Ok so I could have been hammered by my ex husbands 15k tax debt this year, because I was supposed to file injured spouse and didn’t know. I’ve been freaking out that I wouldn’t get my refund. I just got my account transcripts and no hold codes or offset codes, just very basic codes except the 846, because I had path and ordered the account transcript on the 12th. I filed 1/31 and accepted same night, path on the 3rd, able to order return transcripts the 4th.

My question is, even with normal codes, I’m a 0505 process date of 2/20, could my refund still be taken out for his debt? Really need this 6k! Thanks in advance!

If the debt is for a year you were on the return they will probably offset you can file innocent spouse though, it is different from injured. It means you filed with him the debt was there but you had no knowledge of it or he accumulated tax debt without your knowledge, call irs today they are open.

The offset only tells me nontax debts. It’s a tax debt and we weren’t together. I told him he had to change that return to remove me or I’d file fraud papers

I had those codes for 2 weeks, praying they wouldn’t take it. Well guess who’s not getting all there refund? Yep, IRS took there part and sending me the rest.

It didn’t hyphenate, but I put ex-husband. He filed joint back in 2012 when we were already living apart 2 yrs and the year we divorced

                      I was hoping since I had all normal codes, 150, 806, 766 and 768

if you filed joint yes. you could always go back and file the injured spouse though just takes longer
