I got access to my IRS account and it shows no notices were filed and all I have was the 7xx codes and then the 971 code but if you remember from my previous post, the amount on my transcript was about 3k higher than I filed. My IRS transcripts are still not loading because of the maintenance but my IRS account has my refund amount posted on there reflecting the number in my transcript NOT the lower amount I filed through TurboTax with. So I’m guessing and hoping the 971 is a notice that they fixed an error automatically and adjusted the amount. I have a as of date of 2-28 and that’s when the 971 code is dated as well. No bad codes though. Someone want to validate my claim maybe? It’s a thought at least. I’m just stressed one of the bad codes will come next.

Thank you! I’m thinking it’s extra stimmy I never claimed. My kids mom cheated on me and had a child with another man but we didn’t know he wasn’t mine until a year in (yeah sucks but whatever) but I didn’t claim him but I did get ONE stimmy for him. So I’m thinking maybe that’s why? Who knows. I still haven’t gotten a notice and no bad codes still.

@May, I read a lot of articles online. Happened upon this after reading about an irs refund scam. “If you receive a refund to which you’re not entitled, or for an amount that’s more than you expected, don’t cash the check. For a direct deposit that was greater than expected, immediately contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 and your bank or financial institution.

Oddly my balance is $3,600 less than what TT accumulated. Of which I’m assuming is the stimulus. But I suppose my 971 notice will explain that to me.

I’m in same boat my refund is $3k more exactly than what freetaxusa estimated. I checked my transcripts and it shows the computer generated a different higher amount. No bad codes as of date is 2/28 updated to path message on wmr so fingers crossed it is just a letter about the increase! Good luck! Keep us posted

Could be. Just watch your transcripts. Not WMR

I mentioned not sure to you or someone else they adjusted my return last two years always in my favor. I always get letter stating what was changed, but usually don’t get letter for weeks so I’m a little uncertain.

                        Probably right.
