No change here…SSA still hasn’t updated my “missing” w2. Stopped and talked to my former employer and she flat out refuses to do anything until the IRS contacts her personally. Called my local SSA office and was told I can bring in my w2 but then they have to start their own investigation. Called my local TA office and got the answering service so I left a message and have to wait 7-10 days for them to call me back….

@JB
I am waiting on my check from Colorado. Mailed 3/5. My wages on SSA only has my selfemployment…IRS says they now have my missing w2 info from employer. -

March 6, 2020 at 9:01 pm #4389845Gofigure
Under EARNINGS …it’ll show u your earnings for all years all the way back decades
Mysocial security is the area in the site -
March 6, 2020 at 9:00 pm #4389844
@JB okay as soon as you log in onto to website you’ll see last reported earnings and it should equal out to your tax return. If you see it reported then that’s a step towards your refund being processed and you should have a date soon.
-
March 6, 2020 at 8:55 pm #4389843
@JB hold on….let me look

-
March 6, 2020 at 8:26 pm #4389830
@JB you will get an update next Saturday then. Have you checked ssa?
-
March 6, 2020 at 8:19 pm #4389825JB
Under review until 3/16 because the clowns at the irs cant verify w2s. Cant get an advocate cuz they hang up on you during intake… SO frustrated. they should start paying me interest

@WiZzZ Just a review code. Your just waiting on code 571 a release code
-
March 2, 2020 at 9:53 pm #4387661WiZzZ
&& what if on your transcripts, the final code is 570- not 971. 971 is actually before the code 570.
-
March 2, 2020 at 8:28 pm #4387624Angie
I have a 971 code and stated I will receive letter 3-09. Called IRS and they stated it was several things that may need to be corrected but he didn’t know. Does anyone know how long it will take them to correct that
-
February 28, 2020 at 5:03 pm #4385716Gofigure
I think, when 971 and u ordered a transcript or u set up an online it’s account it could be a letter for that. It’s a guess
-
February 28, 2020 at 4:58 pm #4385710LolaR
971 means Notice Issued- your getting mailed a letter.
-
February 28, 2020 at 3:29 pm #4385633Annoyed
@Lovebunny
It’s says 971 3/16- noticed issued. I called IRS and they said nothing has been sent. They have literally no answers!!! -
February 28, 2020 at 3:18 pm #4385626Ssharp
I also have 570 and 971. Future date of 3/9. Cycle code 20200795 with 0.00. No updates on WMR except that my refund is processing
-
February 28, 2020 at 11:44 am #4385465Lovebunny
I think that’s the code for something being mailed. I’m not sure.
-
February 28, 2020 at 11:35 am #4385455Annoyed
I noticed a 971 code on my transcript this morning. Anyone have any idea what it means!?
-
February 28, 2020 at 7:55 am #4385222LolaR
Ugh, we got two 570 codes and now after last nights update, we have TWO 971 codes.🙄🙄 another October tax refund for us!
-
February 27, 2020 at 10:24 pm #4385000Tracy
I was told today by the IRS that my income with Social Security does not match my return. They are missing an employer. Second year in a row. Not my fault again, but I have to wait. The 03-09 date by the 971 is the date they expect me to have the letter and then they get 45 days.
-
February 24, 2020 at 2:49 pm #4373373Princess Mommy
I filed on 1/27
Accepted on 1/27Updated to a 570 and then a 971 code.
Today I called the IRS to see what I could find out and I was told that they can’t verify income so they and asking for me time for further review.
570- Additional Account Action Pending
971- Notice Issued -
February 22, 2020 at 10:09 pm #4369202Regina
Does anyone have an update or a DDD? Mine says codes 570 & 971 and processing date of 3/2/2020. No bars when I check WMR but says still processing. Sincerely hoping this “freeze” is just due to the EIC being held.
-
February 22, 2020 at 6:51 pm #4369001Stefanie
Sooo, I checked my transcript yesterday and I have code 570 and 971 listed. Has anyone had a resolution since this happened to them? I’m freaking out.
-
February 22, 2020 at 5:14 pm #4368882Shelby
@reneecj
So I have the same exact cycle number as you and I have a 971 and 570
Did you get your return yet?!
-
February 22, 2020 at 1:51 pm #4368567Mari
I have both 971 and 570 I am assuming the 570 is due to me collecting unemployment and not have taxes taken from themselves hoping they adjust it soon.
-
February 22, 2020 at 2:16 am #4367022Phill
I got a 570 account pending and a 971 notice issued. I called one fuy told me its for my kids im claiming and another told me its for someone to do check on everything manually
-
February 21, 2020 at 11:11 am #4364984
Has anyone had the 971 code on transcripts and updated to 846 before getting the letter in the mail? Updated last week to 570, then this morning to 971 with a date of 3/9/202. Is that the date that the letter is going to be sent? Is it possible to update to 846 before then? What are your thoughts??
-
February 21, 2020 at 10:38 am #4364883Nikki
So I just checked my transcripts and I have an 846 DDD of 02/26/2020 the website still says my refund is being processed so everyone go check your transcripts on line if you can you might be surprised to find that 846 good luck everyone. I did have an 971 before the 846 im thinking it’s because I crated an omline account to view my transcripts online I got the letter thusday. Stay positive ❤
-
February 20, 2020 at 8:15 pm #4363183Reneecj
I have the code 971 and received my letter today. It just said that my eitc was approved after a previous denial 😁
-
February 20, 2020 at 10:34 am #4361928Renee
@ Stressed out2019 I have the 971 code on my transcript but I think has to do with the 8862 form I had to file with my return this year. The 424 is a examination of your return. Hopefully all is well that its just a small mistake. You will receive a notice letting you know if they need any information from you.
-
February 20, 2020 at 9:53 am #4361839Stressed out2019
Did anyone receive the 971 with the 424 code?
-
February 20, 2020 at 9:28 am #4361789Renee
@Misha That is what you will receive, just something letting you know a account was created.
-
February 20, 2020 at 8:27 am #4361680Misha
I also received a 971 notice issued on my transcript as of yesterday and it is blank. But I registered for the online acct yesterday too so that may be it.
-
February 20, 2020 at 7:48 am #4361599Renee
@Endia Rhodea That is what I was hoping for. I know it says my notice will be mailed 2/24 so that is probably what I will get also. It didn’t say anything about an extra wait time or anything did it?

February 15, 2020 at 2:22 pm #4351873Kate
Yesterday my transcripts updated with codes 806, 766 and 971 (no 570). Today I updated to the PATH. I’m hoping the “971 notice issued” is nothing big but I’m anxiously waiting.
-
February 15, 2020 at 12:36 pm #4351762
I’ve got the 570 and 971 with a 2/17/20 date.
-
February 15, 2020 at 9:42 am #4351496Renee
@Endia I filed 2/3 and got accepted 2/4. My cycle date is 20200705 and a processing date of 3/2. Which just updated yesterday. My transcripts are complete without the 846. I am thinking this coming Friday they should show a ddd. WMR updated this morning to the Path message for me also. So I have my fingers crossed for a ddd by next Friday.
-
February 14, 2020 at 11:56 pm #4350802Nikki
Did you have any eic credits I also have just code 971 the rest of the code’s are normal refund and eic codes. The 971 has a future date of 02/24/20 it says notice sent I also created an account to view my transcripts online I hope they just sent a letter pertaining to that I filled with both credits I got path message on 02/08/20 I’m just a bit worried hoping everything is okay ill post if I get any updates. -
February 14, 2020 at 11:37 pm #4350787Endia
@Renee Mine updated too today! I can’t view them, but my address updated! When did you get accepted?? And is your transcript complete?
-
February 14, 2020 at 10:23 pm #4350714Jackie6
@Alexis I had a 971 code. Got a letter in the mail regarding me creating an account for transcripts. I’m assuming that’s what the 971 was for because I updated today and have a DDD of 2/20/20
-
February 14, 2020 at 7:48 pm #4350589Renee
@ Endia Rhodea I haven’t heard anything different but I looked at my transcripts today and it has the e.i.c on it with the refund amount. So I believe it’s just a notice coming saying we are recertified to file the e.i.c.
-
February 14, 2020 at 5:45 pm #4350446Alexis baber
I finally got my transcripts last Friday and it showed 570 with a date of 2/24 and I’m a weekly so today it updated to 971 with a date of 3/02 but all of my transcripts are done and the credit amount is my refund amount so I’m hoping that the 971 is because I created a account online to see my transcripts can anyone help us with these codes
-
February 14, 2020 at 12:42 pm #4350093Jackie
@Renee mine is 20200605 and my processing date was 2/17/20 then changed to 2/24/20.

February 12, 2020 at 11:07 pm #4348004
Not yet. Just the letter stating I opened an account with the IRS to view my transcripts. My date next to the 570/971 code says 02/24/2020
-
February 12, 2020 at 10:39 pm #4347998Jessica
Hey Everyone,
Did anyone get an update? I checked my transcript account today for the first time and I see code 971 as well. I do owe the IRS but I have an installment agreement in place “although Im sure they will take their portion that is owed” The code 971 shows a date of 2/17 notice issued. No notice has came yet. Has anyone recieved a letter regarding code 971?
-
February 12, 2020 at 4:27 pm #4347731
So I came home to a letter from the IRS after posting today. It was letting me know what I needed going forward to access my account online. I think we are all a bit too worried and this is a notification of online access and a PATH hold .
-
February 12, 2020 at 1:12 pm #4347517
Seems like there are quite a few of us with this. In going through various threads I see many people who post it’s because of PATH act. Sure hope so. Anyone hear anything different? I was accepted 1-28. Originally looked like my process date was 2-17 but now shows 2-24 with 605 cycle. Last year was about the same was accepted 1-29 and got my refund 2-22. SO hoping I get my refund on 2-21 based on previous years. The 971 and 570 threw me for a bit this morning but now seeing so many others I think its just the PATH hold I dont have any offsets.
My previous post was a quote from a few days ago was wondering if there was an update to it since they showed a 2-12 ddd
-
February 12, 2020 at 12:05 pm #4347430Jackie
@anniee75 when were you accepted? I was accepted 1/21/20. I just checked and still have codes 570 and 971.
-
February 12, 2020 at 12:03 pm #4347428Jessica Murray
So do I have a 570 code because I’m a Pather? The processing date is 2/24 and that’s the processing date of my return as well. I’m thinking the 570 is the hold until they release path funds or at least I hope so…
-
February 12, 2020 at 11:40 am #4347368
I just checked my transcripts and the 971 and 570 code have been cleared. 846 code refund will be issued on 2/12/20 so everything looks like it worked itself out. I’ll wait to see when my deposit hits to know for sure
I am curious is there an update?
-
February 12, 2020 at 11:06 am #4347348Jackie
@kimmied Same here codes 570 and 971. I created an account 2/4/20 so I am thinking the 971 is the letter in regards to that. I did go back and look at my taxes and the $385 is the difference with my mortgage info. Hopefully we hear something Friday.
-
February 12, 2020 at 10:41 am #4347318Endia Rhodea
@Renee did you hear anything else? I had to file form 8862 and I have the same code?
-
February 12, 2020 at 9:21 am #4347176
@kimmied I have the same codes, and also received the letter about opening an online account which I’m hoping is the reason for the 971 code. My numbers match what is in my Return as of today so not sure what is going on.
-
February 12, 2020 at 8:52 am #4347128kimmied
I have 570 and 971 on my transcript. I didn’t get EIC but I did get CTC. I see a difference in what I thought I was getting back of almost $200 more. I was paying the First Time Homebuyers credit back and I guess I didn’t owe anymore money. Could this be the cause for the hold up? If so, how long will it take to release my money? I did get a letter in the mail yesterday but it was about me registering online to see my transcript. Could that be the notice? I also don’t have the credit to your account code that I’ve seen on most TC.
-
February 10, 2020 at 5:53 am #4344360Target
@Ron, I wouldn’t worry too much about the .02. I have almost 9k coming, trust me, I understand the concern. But the IRS will fix any blunder on their part, granted it may take them a yr to find/correct it. If you must ammend, it is recommended wait, do it after refund sent. A bit of my non solicited advice, don’t make grand (no pun ), plans regarding a refund arrival /date. Even if the monies there prior ie taking out a loan/using money saved. Just isn’t smart to potentially put yourself in an unnecessary bind. Worked in finance for 6 yrs! Just sharing a bit of my experience.
All the best, and enjoy! “OT” You’ve earned every dime my friend. :)
-
February 9, 2020 at 11:45 pm #4344230Jackie6
@ Dee Dun when were you accepted? I was accepted 1/21 and have codes 570 and 971. My refund amount from TaxAct and what IRS is showing is off my $385. Not sure if I’m getting a CP12 letter or not just read that’s what letter they send out. I also have processing date of 2/24/20 not sure what that means.
-
February 9, 2020 at 8:46 pm #4344148LolaR
@Jackie6 the 971 is probably the letter telling you that they made a change to your tax return. As soon as you get it, take action. If you have to mail a response to them, do it certified and same day if possible. Won’t necessarily speed up the process but it will make your turn around time sooner than later.
@ron in my experience, there is no way to determine what the letter is regarding. Just have to wait and see. It very well could be the .02, it would ridiculous if it is.
-
February 9, 2020 at 8:36 pm #4344144Jackie6
Anyone get a CP12 letter? And does anyone know how long it takes to finish processing your refund once letter received? I have codes 570 and 971.
-
February 9, 2020 at 9:44 am #4343755ron
I Checked on Friday, and the 971 and 570 showed up on my return.
What can I look for to see what this is?
I’m supposed to get a REALLY good return this year.
I got 5700 last year, and 7500 this year.
I didn’t do anything different except work more OT, and it seems to have helped my return.
I’m really concerned about this.
Two years ago we had an offset for my wife’s student loan debt. Thought it was paid off, then last year, they offset us for $65 for her student loan. She checked, and it looks like that paid it all off except $.02 (go figure)
Could it be that they are just calculating the offset of $.02?
I field on 1/27 and I’m kind of freaking out over this- was going to go on a vacation I already booked and need to pay some debts -
February 8, 2020 at 10:24 pm #4343607LolaR
Code 570 does not mean offset, code 898 does. 570 is just a hold on your refund for further processing. 971 does not mean there is a miscellaneous transaction, it means Notice issued..which is a letter they are sending you.
-
February 8, 2020 at 3:29 pm #4343363Dee Dub
@Renee Holland
I had the 971 code due to my medical and dental itemized deduction apparently my numbers were off. But they corrected it and released my refund. Initially my expected refund amount was $220 lower. But they actually ended up giving me the $220 back. So I guess it was just much to do about nothing.
-
February 8, 2020 at 12:36 pm #4343241
I still have the 971 and 570 codes. I called he offset phone number and it says no offset found. I hope it just clears itself. I did notice that on one of my transcripts it says 2 exemptions claimed, 0 approved. Not sure if this is common until refund approved.
-
February 8, 2020 at 12:23 pm #4343224Renee Holland
Could I have to id verify if it’s just the 971 code on transcripts? I know I had to file the 8862 form when I filed my return this year. And I have seen around on the internet that I could just be receiving a letter pertaining to that saying that I am recertified to claim the e.i.c.
-
February 8, 2020 at 12:18 pm #4343220Renee Holland
@ Dee Dub Did you ever find out why you had those codes? I don’t have the 570 just the 971 code.
-
February 7, 2020 at 8:22 pm #4342513Dee Dub
I just checked my transcripts and the 971 and 570 code have been cleared. 846 code refund will be issued on 2/12/20 so everything looks like it worked itself out. I’ll wait to see when my deposit hits to know for sure.
-
February 7, 2020 at 8:17 pm #4342507Dee Dub
I never received and interest and I don’t owe any other agency that I know of. I’m still waiting for the letter that is dated 2/17/20. Idk why it takes so long for the letter to be sent but we’ll see.
-
February 7, 2020 at 7:57 pm #4342492
I show the same 570 & 971 codes. Account transcript is filled out and the account balance shows the same as on my filed return. So not sure whats going no
-
February 7, 2020 at 2:37 pm #4342115Noblemama
Code 570 means there is a credit hold/additional liability pending. Basically an offset.
-
February 7, 2020 at 2:36 pm #4342109Noblemama
Code 971 means theres a misc transaction on your return. No idea what exactly that means. Codes are listed on the irs website if you do some digging.
-
February 7, 2020 at 12:03 pm #4341895Renee Holland
Anyone know what tax code 971 is on transcripts? No other codes but this one.
-
February 7, 2020 at 9:18 am #4341591LolaR
@Dee Dub. Did you get interest last year on your tax return? If it’s $200 or more, you have to claim that interest on this years return. So basically, they gave interest for waiting so long but you got to pay it back to them.

I was able to see my transcripts today. They are blank with just tax code 971. Nothing else, no cycle date or anything. Does anyone know what this means?

So I have a 971 and 570 code. I spoke to IRS today. They said I would be receiving a CP12 letter. Which is issued to inform the tax payer the irs has made changes to their return.

Thanks Bill. I appreciate the help.
My transcripts also say: Account balance plus accruals (this is not a pay off) there is a minus sign with an amount: ex: -$2,133 and the original refund amount was $2,333 so I’m wondering if my refund was adjusted?
I’m confused with all this.

It could be something small, usually if its a bigger flag they cant fix you would get a take action notice, just stay positive

WMR says: Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.

So someone fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in my name and I’ve been in a battle with my local unemployment office for a while. I’ve had 2 for the past 10 years I left one to go to another and someone was collecting unemployment under my name, now they are trying to make me pay it back.
Is the 570 code most likely the unemployment pay back? They claim I owe them $1100.
