I guess the best thing for me to do is to call the IRS Monday and make sure everything is ok cause I did have to do the id verify for my state so better to call and be safe

            Correction to below.

“Then back to 1 BAR on 2/23”

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Just thought I would chime in and say….. honestly I don’t think there is 1 “cookie cutter” answer or resolution for ppl with codes – specifically the 9001. I have read so many different scenarios and different outcomes, just as a guide to see what may happen to me. I contacted my preparer and told him about my 9001 code and he said don’t worry, still processing. A week after having the 9001 code, this morning I woke up and have my 1 bar back. Still processing. No letter. No ID verify. I was hoping for a DD Date but at least it looks like I am still processing. Waiting it out, because I truly think everyone’s case is different.

              Filed 1/28 with credits.

              Went to Path
              Then to 1 bar
              Then to STILL PROCESSING
              Then to 9001
Then back to 9001 on 2/23

                No change in mine.

                *Filed 17th
                *Accepted 28th
                *One bar until 2/6
                *2/6 went to 9001
*Letter received and called to ID VERIFY 2/17.
IRS guy said it would continue to process and closed the ID verify.
*Called 2/20 and confirmed it was actually back in processing.
                *No update still.

Does having a 9001 always mean you need to verify your identity? When I looked it up it just said it was a system error code and i filed by TT 2/7 but I also mailed last year’s in mid January (waited to file last year until my student loans were out of default) but the ones I mailed weren’t showing in the system yet and now it shows the 9001 along with this year’s so I just assumed having 2 tax returns in the system is what caused the system error

Did you verify online or actually speak to the IRS? From what I’m seeing and from personal experience those of us who actually called and spoke to someone to verify have updated to DDD in a very short time.

                    I filed 1/20
                    Accepted 1/22
Went from one bar to 9001 a few days later

Got verify letter on 2/19 and verified same day, updated overnight night to DDD 2/27
