      I have seen where many people who have had the 9001 have been told the same thing I was which was to wait for a letter but then they have been told other various things as well. I have only called the one time and gotten the wait for letter response. My question is has anyone with the 9001 been told to wait for a letter but then WMR changed before ever receiving one? I get that the people at IRS are reading from manuals but it seems the manual for this code provides several different responses.

          9001 is just a generic code. If you call in it will trigger the ID verify 4883c letter. I’ve learned over the past 6 years that the more proactive you try be about your refund will only result in delay after delay.
