            I filed 1/24, accepted 1/25, received my letter on 2/25, faxed the forms in the same day. Called back on 2/27 and was told it had already been updated and my account had been notated. I was also told that since it had been updated and already notated that I should expect a DDD at any time and it would definitely not be the 6 weeks they state it will take. I called back today to see if they could tell me anything else bc I know it hasn’t been processed as I cannot order my transcripts using this year’s info (my filing status changed from last year) and she said there was nothing else being sent out or any codes on my account and that all is well and to just give it time.

            At this point, I am wondering if I should get a tax advocate. I have disconnect notices and am starting to lose faith that it will be processed in the next week or two. I cannot wait much longer. I looked at previous tax years on this forum and others to see what their experiences were and most got their DDD within 2-3 weeks of faxing in the forms. However, there were a select few whose returns were held up for months. I think I will wait for Saturday’s update and if I don’t receive a DDD at that point, then I will get an advocate. I just see so many differing opinions on tax advocates and how it’s helped some while slowing down others, so I am wary! What are y’all’s opinion?

              @Courtney S

              When I got my letter it had the fax number when I called the agent told me that I needed to wait to get my letter to get the fax number. I think they may be different depending on your region.

                I’m in the same boat. I filed 2/2 and I called in 2/22 to see what was going on. They informed me after 3 reps that it appeared my return was in the ERS department. 2/25 I called back and sure enough a letter had been mailed.

                I’m trying to be patient. When you faxed your documents in did you need the letter to do so? I’m trying to get reprints I’d my 1095 as I don’t recall receiving them from any of my 2 employers.

                  I got a return for tax year 2016 (filed early 2017) where this happened. After faxing the forms back in late Feb, I received my refund March 29th. Basically, once the forms are faxed in, the count kind of starts over as if you just filed. Not sure what will happen if you owe since I usually get a return, but I assume you will just deal with it as if it were a normal filing, except now you are a month later (but still within deadline).

                  Good luck!
