The day I filed or an additional 6-8 weeks on top of the 21 days?

Has anyone been told 6-8 more weeks for processing but seen movement earlier.

      Filed/Accepted- 1/24
Lost Bars and TT152 on 2/6
Called on Tuesday and they said my return wasn’t “processed properly”, but wouldn’t tell me how. Just I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks and then an extra 9 weeks. Not worried about the 9 because I know that is just what they tell us, but I wasn’t sure about the 6 to 8.

As of today NO BARS AND NO TT153

      Thanks

I know many people are being told this sort of thing, but then the rep will say ” we have to tell you this”. They are saying this to cover their own as@.

They have no idea if the problem will take a few days or not and they think this answer will keep you from calling back for a while.

Idk your financial situation, but just in case you didn’t know you request an “expedited refund” if you have some sort of financial hardship.

I’d contact a TA (if need be). Have TA check and see if you have no issues with return and they are just holding it I would request they expedite it.

People are being told 9 weeks from the Irs then after getting the TA they see their money within a week or two.

Now, the only thing about an expedited refund is that the IRS has the option to just release enough funds to cover the hardship and the remaining balance comes later. However, they also can just give you the whole refund. They usually hold back things like education credit or eic IF they are in question.

They are pretty quick to release the actual overpayment amount though.

              Good Luck
