4464c Hell

Here’s my 4464c saga:

1/30 Filed electronically & return accepted same day
2/10 Receive 4464c letter – instructs me to call in 60 days if no
refund or further letters received.
3/16 Receive CP05 letter (same contents as 4464c – instructs me
to call in 45 days if no refund or further letters received.
5/01 After 45 days are up I call the IRS, representative tells me
that he will submit a referral and if I do not hear anything
back from them (receive a refund or another review letter), that
I should call them again in 30 days.

Are we seeing a pattern here? 60 days/45 days/30 days. It has been 105 days since my return was accepted. Each time I call it has always been over an hour wait. Oh, and the # they list on the letters to call- is useless as it basically circle jerks you through a number of prompts and eventually tells you that “due to the unusual # of calls they are unable to assist you and to call them back on another day”, you then get hung up on. So I call the Tax Advocate, who will not help other than to transfer you to an agent. You will be on hold for at least an hour before the agent picks up.

My return is simple, all it consists of is my W2, I only have the standard deduction. Same address for 16 years, same job for almost the same amount of time and my refund is to be direct deposited to my checking account. I am really disgusted by the mistreatment by the IRS. If I was a criminal or an illegal alien they would have no problem sending me a refund. I would love to have a Congressional hearing on this scam they are running. Thieves.

4/2/15 – Return accepted by IRS
4/28/15 – Review letter 4464C received (wait 60 days)
7/2/15 – (65 days later) “Where’s my refund” website says it’s “still being processed.” The phone number on the 4464C form gets me an automated system that says the same thing as the WMR website.
It is my opinion that the IRS is either corrupt or incompetent. I have decided that, as of my first paycheck in July, I am going to claim the maximum number of dependences allowed by law for me. I will never again allow these corrupt/clueless people to hold any additional monies other than what I owe. I would rather owe the IRS a little on April 15 than suffer the BS that they are putting us all through now.
