If wage data processed by SSA is less than the amount reported to IRS, we assume that the processed earnings are incorrect. SSA sends a notice and questionnaire, asking the employer to explain and resolve the differences. If we do not receive a response after 45 days, we send the employer a second notice. If the employer still does not respond, we refer the case to IRS for investigation. for example SSA has $30, 933 listed, and IRS has listed $30,977 our actual 45 & 65 day’s delay codes on our transcripts I am assuming.

Check your amounts from each and make sure they match, if they don’t match contact IRS and explain why you believe it’s different like you used your last paystub or something

1541. 570. Still stuck. On hold with irs again. I know it’s w2 related, as my employer decided to not send me a w2 this year. I had to guess on amounts

Your taxes are filed and now you’re sitting back waiting for that refund check to hit your account – or trying not to think about that big check you had to write. Then you realize you messed up.

Maybe it was a simple mistake: you made a typo or a math error or forgot to report some income. Maybe you receive a corrected 1099 in the mail after filing your return. Either way, the tax return you just filed is wrong. What happens now? Will you get audited?

If the error relates to a form such as a W-2 or 1099, you will probably receive a Notice CP2000. This means that the income reported to the IRS does not match the information you reported on your tax return. The IRS will generally recalculate the amount of tax you owe and send you a bill for the difference

                          Where is that info from?

I’ve seen alot of people with 1541 automatically update without waiting.

Typically the IRS issues a refund or corrects the wages and gets any over payment next year.

What happens when employer’s reported wages and SSA match, but wages were over -reported on return? This is my situation.

I checked hubby’s w-2 and his SSA and they matched. So I don’t know what the hold up is on my end. Unless his employer hasn’t released the W-3 to the IRS yet. At this point I just want a different code then 154. At least then I’d have an idea of what’s going on. 😩
