I had it – called the IRS and lady told me that my return was being reviewed, but wouldnt say why or what was wrong) My returns have always been simple-no delays of any kind and nothing complicated with my return so I was baffled. She proceeded to tell me that I would have my return within 60 days from the date that I called (yesterday) which really made NO sense because what if I would have called 2 weeks ago? Would I only have 6 weeks left to wait for my already delayed refund, instead of 8 weeks as she was saying?)She couldnt give me an answer to that! I asked her again what the problem was holding it up and offered to verify anything she needed me to but she just kept repeating “60 days from todays date-its under review. I finally called a tax advocate today and the tax advocate said that since I had 1 job in one state, and then moved and got 2 new jobs in another state, the 3 jobs in 2015 basically tripled the wait time/confusion as employers had several weeks still and 2 of my 3 employers had not turned in their copy of my w-2 to the irs and they were just waiting on those to verify my numbers. They stated that rather than wait, I could gather all of my paystubs from those 2 employers (but NOT my copy of my w-2 from employers because according to them, too many people alter these but not pay stubs?)and send them in or I could get each of the employers that they didn’t have verification from to provide a letter to the IRS on company letterhead with the total amount of my wages earned, taxes paid etc- basically everything on my w-2 and a phone number of the issuing department of that company for verification. Still doesn’t make any sense to me but the advocate did say that they would be able to assist me and I would have to wait 60 days like the original lady said and she actually apologized profusely for the other lady not giving me more clear answers. She at least sounded like she was truly sorry and was going to basically “fix it” for me. Hope this helps someone!
