Hi everyone, I checked before I posted this and did not see any discussion for people who are getting or have gotten a letter stating a review is being conducted on their tax return. Has anyone received this letter and does it take a long time to get everyting in that is needed and have the IRS review it so you can get a refund? This is the first time this has happened to me so I don’t know what to expect. I still haven’t received the letter.
I had a dd date set for 2/7 and was accepted on 1/18 now there is no dd date for my refund.

It will not take a long time if you make sure that you get all information in as soon as possible. It is a hard process. You make sure that your information is overnight mail. Be prepared to dig up a lot of stuff.

I actually got this letter on Feb. 14th. They said they didn’t need any information from us or anything but basically he was being reviewed because they want to review it for the income we reported on the return.

I’m guessing because he didn’t file last year (He didn’t have a job or unemployment or anything) is why it’s being reviewed.

We filed onm 01/18/12 and got accepted on 01/19/12 and now are being told to wait 60 day for our refund.

I recieved that same letter of review. They don’t need any info, but tell me it maybe 60 days before I get my refund. I find it odd that everyone whom filed that 1 st week in jan are being reviewed! I filed and was accepted on jan 19 th! Has anyone heard anything new?

I’m a Code 9001 1-30 filer. Told Sunday the letter was on the way but not here yet.
My return was a simple Single this year with only the college credit and back taxes. Other years (except last, when I was audited and they forgot to clear me) it was HOH w/EIC. It’s nuts – I am SO disgusted!

I had called and asked about my refund in April and the rep told me that my return was going into examination and that I should receive a letter by May 7th requesting more info. Well the letter came exactly on May 7th requesting info and I actually didn’t send back the info til the 1st of June because the info they asked for I actually had to wait for it to be mailed out to me regarding my infant child. I called irs and asked the rep will my info be accepted because my child is still young so there wasn’t a lot of options, he told me exactly what to request and mail to them and assured me that it’s all that needed for a child that young. I understood completely why the irs is being so cautious now and this is my first child so
New to claiming credits so I understand perfectly why they would want more info and that’s absolutely finbitty I kond of want my money now :/ so now I’m waiting for some kind of response, I’ve realized their responses take at least a month and I did add tracking so I know exactly what date they received it. It’s just waiting to see how long it sits on someone’s desk now :(
