Injured Spouse

After months of different answers and different dates, even different amounts. I was told my “issue date” was July 9. My question is this- is the issue date the same as the date the IRS MAILS the check

    • Looking at mine from last year, my refund issued date was 8/18, the check was mailed 8/21. So, to answer your question, no but the check should be issued within a few days off that date, in my experience. If you haven’t, I’d recommend that you check your transcripts because it could show your cycle date and give you more information. It’s crazy…[Read more]

    • Ive been through something similar, they gave me the same date but told me 4 to 6 weeks to recieve it but that they mailed me a letter ast of that day too but still havent recieved it. I hope we both get it soon

Called the IRS this morning and they said that my refund was pending and it should be released in 2 weeks so that is great news!

    • That’s awesome, I’m happy for anyone that makes it through this awful process! How long has it been for you? When did they receive your form?

    • They received and accepted my IS on 3/12. Been a journey, but I am glad it is coming to an end. Hopefully. WMR hasn’t updated yet and probably won’t. I’m going to call again on Monday if I haven’t gotten my mailed transcripts or a refund day yet. It should be posted in their system by then.

I wanted to create an account to tell my journey with IS so far. I e-filed my return on 1/29 and it was accepted 1/30. 2/22 I got a notice that my return was being offset on WMR. 2/27 I sent in my IS form and it was received and accepted on 3/12. I called the IRS on 4/30 to check the status of my IS and the lady said that she was putting in a 30…[Read more]

    • Wow, what an awful experience. If the IRS was a company I did business with, I would switched companies a long time ago! Lol! We all need to compile all of our stories in to a pdf and each of us should send it to our state representitives.

I called last week, lady told me that my injured spouse was completely done, I was just waiting for my check which could take anothe 2 to 4 weeks. She said that if I don’t receive it by the end of July to call back. I don’t know if it’s true but she said that they have very old systems and it takes it like 2 weeks after they put in a reque…[Read more]

So I spoke with a lovely agent yesterday after about a 25 minute wait on hold. They had indeed received my form and it was already processed last week! Then I checked my transcript again today and I see that it’s updated. I now have a code 971 and 766 (With a 290-additional tax assessed $0 thrown in for extra confusion.) So I think I’m just…[Read more]

Good afternoon. I filed my taxes online in early February, and sent the Injured Spouse form in on 2/15. On 3/12 I received my paperwork back in the mail, asking for signatures on my full tax return, in spite of the fact that I had filed electronically previously. I sent the signed paperwork back in on 3/12. Toward the end of March, the WMR site…[Read more]

    • You should call this number, the wait time is not as bad as calling the main number. 1-800-829-0582 ext 652, it was about 20-25 minute wait. Not terrible. Also, if you are able to, view your transcript online, it will show you the codes, meaning what status your return is on now. The WMR does not necessarily update on time.

Hi, New here and 1st year I filed IS. I filed 2/28, and filed the IS form with my 1040 but unknowingly did not write Injured Spouse in the top left corner of my 1040 (simple instruction that I missed) Then I forgot to include my EIC schedule, so that put my return on hold. Now that all forms are in good order (as of 6/6/18) my IS is being…[Read more]

My wait is finally over. This Forum has been extremely helpfuland this will be my first post ever but I thought I might give some hope. I initially e- filed and tax return accepted on 3/30. Got the notice in the mail that my tax was offset due to spouse on 4/6. I mailed my injured spouse form via first class mail same day and IRS received on 4/9.…[Read more]

I finally have an update. My check was mailed yesterday. I filed 2/10. I had to have a manual refund because of tax debt but yay after all this time my end is finally in sight.

Hi all, So glad I found this site and know that I’m not out here alone!
After days and days of continued checking the app to see where my taxes are I finally requested my transcript to see if that would tell me something.
    This is what I have:
Code 150 Tax returned filed 5-14-18
    Code 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding 4-15-18
    Code 570 Additional account…[Read more]

    • Your 570 code means someone from injured spouse has started working on it but as for how long it could take is really just a guessing game. I filed 2/10 and mine was on code 570 since like 2 weeks after i filed and im just now getting mine it was mailed yesterday.

    Hello,

I just checked my transcript online today and I have this information. Would anyone be able to explain what does it men? This is my first time filing an injured spouse claim.

    150 Tax return filed 20181005 03-26-2018 $0.00
    76221-453-93539-8
    806 W-2 or 1099 withholding 04-15-2018 -$746.00
766 Credit to your account 04-15-2018…[Read more]

    • From what i understand is that 290 code means they started working your injure spouse claim and 971 is just a notice letting you know that it was recieved and someone is working it

    • So at this point once your transcript updates again this friday you shoukd see an additional 846 code with a date and thats the date they will mail your check

  • Super mad posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 1 month, 3 weeks ago

I finally have code 846!! It says refund issued 6/29 does that mean I’ll get a paper check or direct deposit?

  • Jennifer posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 1 month, 3 weeks ago

How long does it normally take to receive a refund after a manual refund request was entered? I filed 2/10 and was told that a manual refund was requested on 6/13. Tired of waiting and waiting.

Does anyone know if there’s a date by which the IRS must process your return? Im at 20 weeks total now, and 2 weeks into my 30 day referral and still no progress has been made. The rep I spoke with today advised getting a TA -but the TA told me they told me they can’t help until my 30 day referral is up.

    • Theres no time limit but have you tried talking to someone in the injured spouse dept? There isnt an extention but the rep should transfer you and if they wont request a supervisor.

Hello New Friends. Im new to the Injured spouse world. I was wondering what I should be doing to track my IS form? I mailed the form about 2 months after I filed my taxes electronically. Today is week 9 of waiting. Everything I have read said about 8 weeks but I know from experience the IRS works on their own time. So Im wondering what I can do to…[Read more]

I was wondering that too. I know if u have a credit card and all you can check you records for the code it says on here but i dont have any of that

  • TM posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 2 months ago

I finally got an 846 code for 6/20. I did file IS electronically with return, but I check our transcript and there is no code for it. Even though I received a 846 code, will the refund be in my name only (I did not check the box to send refund check in both name)? Because my checking account is in my name only.

  • Rob22 posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 2 months ago

Filed IS and I just received an Refund date of 6/22 and WMR is now saying return received and is still being processed. Does anyone know if that’s good news or more waiting?

    • If you have a refund date of 6/22 then it will be a check should be mailed today. Sometimes wmr never updates.

Please help. We filed injured spouse back in February, it was received and case started in March. Beginning of May I got a referral, on June 6th, called and rep actually finished the case with me on the phone, said everything was good and expect check within 3-4 weeks, then I called today just to make sure it was still a go. I was told on June…[Read more]
