Hello,
Last year our tax refund was $10 more than it was this year, and after they allocated the funds my portion (the injured spouse) was $1400. This year my tax return was only $300!!! Why is there such a descrepency between the two refunds? Everything is the same, and I even claimed my son on my portion, and that is at least $1000 for the child tax credit! Any suggestions? Thanks!!! -

I have been waiting for 16 weeks…no word from IRS…no letters nothing. I have called several times..on June 10th they said the would need an additional 30 days..Called today that date isn’t up until the 13th of July. However, I should know something by then? Yeah like I believe that. Anybody else having this problem.

can someone help my understand, my transcript is showing 766 reversal of refund applied to no irs tax debt with a negative $(whole amount of refund), after the IS claim received. the reversal date was 4-15-2015, and then a 290 additional tax assessed $0.00, the code on the 290 is 20151805, I have no notice issued or anything after that code. does the reversal mean I am getting that amount back? the Wheres my amended refund shows it was completed 4/24/15? im confused

Tomorrow will be 13 weeks for me , my transcript shows they received my injured spouse on 1/27/15 , and I do not see any changes at all on the codes, if they even matter? Is it common for it to take this long? Where’s my refund also shows the offset only but no other information. My husband has past due child support and we both worked so I’m even wondering if I’m getting anything back at all.

Wednesday makes week 9 and still stuck at 570 code and still no change on WMR I efiled return with IS form Feb 25 and it was accepted that day feeling really frustrated seeing people who filed the same day as me and some after and they got 846 codes with dd date called two weeks ago and was told they have 14 weeks to process it! The offset is my husbands I’m ready to be legally separated just so I don’t have to go through this again. This is my second year filing IS last year I didn’t do dd and got my refund in the mail one day before the 11th week…..IRS seems to be taking their sweet time this year!

My battle is over! IRS check arrived today! 86 days after e-filing. I don’t think my situation was common (I really hope not) as we e-filed the Injured Spouse form with our taxes, and had to open a claim with both federal and state to re-process our papers to get my refund. If that had not happened, I would have gotten my money the last week of March.
Really hope the best for all of you!

So for the last 3 Friday’s I’ve checked my transcripts, and the date at the top has shown April 27th, then on Monday it reverts back to March 23rd. So today I called since yesterday was 8 weeks, and was told there was a back log, and basically wait another 30 days. I was like WHAT, it is being reviewed, but that was all she could say.
Any thoughts or insights?
-
Jamie
I finally got my 846 code today YAY! Says Refund date May 11th, will it be that long or will I get it sooner? So excited lol!! Filed on 2-19 with the injured spouse form since I knew there was a problem going in.
-
ALJ
Finally after 10 weeks of back and forths my refund issued code 846 displayed on my transcript this morning. My expected refund date is May 11, 2015. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.
Brief summary
IS filled with an amended return after offset and received by IRS on Feb 17. Amendment processed on April 6. Reversal codes processed on April 13 and 20. Refund issued code (today) with an expected deposit/ paper check dated of May 11, 2015.
Wow – This tax season was rough but I will be prepared next year.
If you owe student loans please call 1-800-304-3107 or your student loan organizations before you file next year.

@Carmelia, We have the the exact same codes and dates as you! We are hoping to get our refund soon, but nothing yet!
-
Tanya V
Well we received an unexpected surprise today – a portion of my state refund came! We filed 1/28, it was all taken mid-March (even with the IS form filed) We filed a claim to have our state (MN) re-process our information March 25, and today we received most of it back! No news on IRS check that was “mailed Monday” yet. Hopefully tomorrow!
-
Carmelia
Opinions please.. I got my 846 code on Friday with a date of may 4. WMR still says it’s processing and my cycle code is 20151505. From the things I’ve read, I’ve got hope of a DD tomorrow. What does everyone think, from their experience, that I will have good news on the morning??!

Press 1, 2, 1, 4, 2, enter your ss#, press 1 when it prompts you, then 1 again to confirm ss#, then press nothing and it will transfer you. It’ll ask if you agree with the amount owed, press 1 – DON’T. You should hear hold music, and if the auto-voice comes back with “We’re sorry…” hang up and try again. We usually do this a few times before we get through, though we are generally calling between 8am – 10am. If you get through, it’ll start rambling on automated information, like filing forms, etc tax topics – that’s good, because you got through! Hold time is usually a half hour, though a few times it was around 1 hour. Good luck. -

Tomorrow makes 8 weeks….my transcript is still the 570 code…wmr is still saying processing :-( so relay for this to be over…filed everything February 25
-
Carmelia
Tanya V, what number did you call??
-
Tanya V
My cycle code is 20151501 – which I thought meant this week but new posted forums say I should have gotten it last week (April 17). I called the IRS today and found out they mailed a paper check yesterday for whatever reason (she couldn’t see why it changed from DD, and the six people we spoke to from March 25 to today all said it would still be DD.) So I’ll just be watching the mail now. Hopefully your cycle code is for tomorrow.
-
Carmelia
Tanya V, is your cycle code 20151505? That’s mine and I was hoping it meant tomorrow lol
-
Tanya V
I’ve read that the date by the 846 is the date you should have you money by, but it usually comes sooner (at least for DD.) My cycle date is set for this coming Wednesday so we’ll see, otherwise my worst-case scenario date is May 4.
-
Carmelia
Had anyone received a 846 refund date and received their refund earlier then that date?? After 13 weeks I finally received an 846 code but the date is for mid-May!!! Any hope? Or is the reality that I will have indeed waited 4 months by the time I get my refund?
-
Tanya V
Nevermind, I see your previous post says efile. You won’t see anything on your transcript.
-
Tanya V
Carmelia
Did you efile your IS form with your taxes or did you send it in via paper? Efile won’t show anything on your transcript, paper will give you a code 971 IS form received. -
Carmelia
My transcript doesn’t have anything on it regarding my injured spouse form. I have seen other people put things up regarding their transcripts and there is a specific “injured spouse form received” date… Does this mean my tax representative did mine wrong and my taxes will go to my husband’s debt now??!! It should have been filed with my taxes the same day I filed ( 2\14)
-
Tanya V
@ Carmelia
It never hurts to call and see what’s up. Mine took forever to update past code 570, roughly 2 months. Sometimes there’s an error or something silly on the account and getting a rep to look at it can help move it along.@ Chrissy
Your refund was offset (sent to pay a debt). It shows that the injured spouse form was received, so now you’re waiting for someone to re-open your case and do it again, to see what money, if any, should go to you (or your spouse). It could be another 8-11 weeks from the date the IRS accepted your IS form (general guideline). You should start to see more codes as the weeks pass (generally IS filers transcript update mid-Friday mornings). You’ll be looking for a code that says it’s a reversal of refund applied to non-irs debt (that *should* be the amount of money you’ll get back) and then you’ll have to wait for another 846 (release code) to appear. Good luck!@ V Hart
Any news?! I’m so eager to hear that your refund was deposited today! I was super hopeful mine would magically appear today, as the last time it was released on Friday, deposited the following Wednesday (incorrectly offset, though) but my cycle date is next week so HOPEFULLY :D -

I filled my taxes electronically with the IS form on Feb 14. According to my transcripts it was accepted on March 16, and nothing had changed since then… Should I be calling or is it normal that I’m still waiting for any type of movement??! This is the longest I have ever waited and not my first year filling an IS…
-

V Hart:
Yay! A date!
Mine has yet to do anything – hasn’t changed since I first started using WMR beginning of Feb. -
V Hart
WMR updated with a date of April 15th! Yay!
-
V Hart
Mine is 20151405 which is April 16th I believe…
-
Tanya V
Updated today with an 846 with cycle code for 20151501 – what I can find online says it should be DD by April 23. Finger’s crossed – again :)
-
ALJ
@V Hart- Great news.
So my transcripts updated and I finally received a reversal code. I am still waiting for the other student loan offset to come back but i am glad that I am seeing some movement. Maybe next week I will have the 846 code (Next week is 8 weeks for me) and my tax advocate stated that they will be mailing my check in 2 weeks. Finally – I will keep you all posted.
-
MJB
So I have been following this forum for some time now…I had to file IS, which was received on 2/26. This information at the top is dated March 23rd. I checked it yesterday, and it updated to April 27th. Initially was wondering how it could update into the future, then I checked it this morning and it is back to the March 23rd date. 8 weeks will be April 23rd, so wondering if anyone else has had an updated like that revert back?
Thanks

V Hart:
That is good news! When we got our 846 codes, the account balance went to $0 too – and it’s back in the negative now that we’re waiting for the funds to be released again. What’s your new cycle code? Maybe that’ll help figure out when you should see your $$$
:) -
V Hart
@Tanya V- Yes! I have a code 290- $0 and a code 846- $-XXXX.XX (entire refund amount), my account balance also says $0 now…not sure if this means I get my entire refund amount and when I should expect my money?
-
Tanya V
No update on my transcript today, so my husband and I both called the irs again. Roughly 20 min hold each, so not bad. My lady said I should get the refund within 3-4 weeks, and if not gotten by the first week of may, to call back. I should also be receiving a notice soon of the new adjusted refund. Husbands rep said that our claim is almost done and we should get the refund very soon, but couldn’t provide an actual date.
Anyone else get any (good) news? V Hart – anything?
-
ALJ
All,
Woke up this morning and attempted to get on my transcripts. Haha to my surprise the system was down. I will try to get on there this afternoon. Praying for an update.
Will let you know tonight.
-
Tanya V
@V Hart
That’s sorta good news :) I hope you see some money soon! -
V Hart
So… I finally gave up because it’s still stuck on code 570 and I called the tax advocate and told them my college classes will drop me if I don’t pay…they took a look into my account and told me that my refund has been adjusted as of April 2nd and it may take 2-3 weeks to process but my battle should be over real soon and if I don’t have the money by the 13th to call them back. A tax advocate will be in touch with me in a few days.

2nd time around
This year we filed again thinking since I was enrolled in a rehab program for my student loan we wouldn’t be offset but we were. efiled on 1/30 refund date was set for 2/19 when it wasn’t deposited we filed Injured Spouse form. It was received 3/3/15 code 971. 766 code was posted about two weeks later with a 4/15 date. I continued to check every week and received a 971 code for notice issued around 3/19. The next Tuesday received the letter. checked following week and there was a 846 code for refund with date of 4/13 cycle 20151205. I got my check in the mail yesterday! Much faster this year but we are now on the west coast and form was sent to the California branch. Not sure if the speed was due to that or the fact that it was our second time and I was enrolled in the rehab program for my loan. Hope everyones progress is as smooth as mine was this year and for those waiting forever maybe next year will be better.
-
2nd time around
Last year our taxes were offset for my student loans that I did not know were defaulted because we moved and never received notices. Anyway, after the IRS site said refund deposited 2/12/14 we called our bank to check on our deposit and nothing. Finally was informed of offset, sent in Inured Spouse form mid March and after the 8 weeks we called and they said they were behind and we should contact an advocate. Didn’t receive our refund until mid July, it was the full amount but it took forever! Sidenote we sent it to the Kansas branch as we were living down south.
-
Tanya V
Wow, more odd news on my transcript. It appears to have updated this morning, with another reversal of refund, additional tax assessed, and another notice sent. New cycle date, appears to be April 13 now instead of April 9. I’m happy that I should be getting money back, but I really have no idea what’s going on or how much longer it’ll take.
@ALJ
It updated Saturday morning, which I thought was odd. And now it updated again Tuesday morning.@stacey
Congrats!.. kind of :) Sorry they forgot to finish your refund but awesome that you’ll be getting it back soon! -
stacey
If you still have a 570 code call he irs. I filed on 1/29 and still 570 code so I finally got through today and the irs rep said the form was recieved and couldnt understand why the money hasnt been released. Transferred me to the IS department and the person who worked my case just never entered the codes to release our refund!!!! So she reviewed everything with me and released it herself. Thank god I called! BTW they were all very nice!
-
ALJ
Congratulations @ Tanya V.
Did you new codes happen last night on Thursday night? I am hoping that they update mine next week b/c we need the money.

Just a heads up guys. I have the cycle code of 20150605 and just got my 846 today. We filed on February 4 and got an 846 with a date of 4/20. I hope this helps. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.
-
Tanya V
I had three transcript updates since yesterday morning:
766 Reversal of refund applied to 04-15-2015 -$HIDDEN
non-IRS debt
290 Additional tax assessed 20151401 04-27-2015 $0.00
08254-492-05319-5
971 Notice issued 04-27-2015 $0.00These appeared overnight, after the two 898 codes. I’m hoping I’ll see the money soon.
-
ALJ
Well I am still waiting for my refund as well. The IRS received it on 2/17/15 and according to my tax advocate (yes I called to get one) it should be sent to me within the next 2 weeks. I will keep you updated but I have not had any movement on my transcripts for 2 weeks. The last codes that I received were 971- Notice Issued – 4/6/2015 and 971- Injured Spouse Received – 2/17/15. At least I know that I am getting something back – they kept his portion for his student loans but it just seems unfair that they can take it the same day that you are supposed to get it but I have to wait 8 or more weeks to get the money back.
Maybe next week I will have anupdate for you all.

@Tanya V- I have no clue, they sent me to the IRS even after I complained about not being able to pay for college and being dropped.
Anyways, after speaking to her she gave me the regular speech on it takes 11 weeks, blah blah blah, she said they didn’t get it till the 5th of feb, that’s the third date I’ve heard. She said that it can take till April 17th and people have been working on it. They worked on it yesterday.
How hard is it to see I made 100% of the income?
There has been zero update on my transcripts.
-

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP- what does this mean?
766- reversal of refund applied to non-irs debt (4/15/2015) -$0.000
290- additional tax assessed, $0.00 -
Tanya V
@V Hart
I’m really sorry to hear that. Any chance a tax advocate might be able to help? -
V Hart
This is so freakin irritating, I am about to be dropped from my college classes due to inability to pay for this semester!
I filed January 29th and was accepted the same day.
Still stuck at code 570.
My husband has to pay for his classes by May 26th or he will be dropped.
We have five kids so it’s not that easy to just give money to colleges.
-
Tanya V
Still no news. I called the IRS today, as instructed to do last Friday – and they couldn’t provide me any information besides that the claim to get my portion of injured spouse that they incorrectly offset is pending. We both waited well over an hour on the phone, my husband was told it should be reviewed and reprocessed soon, and mine said it could take 3-4 weeks. Funny how you could issue and release the refund last Wednesday and the debt was taken immediately, but giving back my portion due to IRS error is taking more than a week! /Rant
If it helps:
Efiled w/ IS form 1/28 (accepted too)
Transcript updated 3/20 w/ both 846 codes
Both Fed refunds taken 3/25
File claim to get my portion back 3/27
Transcript did not update anything this Friday, here’s to hoping for news next Friday. Best of luck to everyone else waiting for their $$$ :) -

HELP!!
So i have been following this page for some time now, it has been one of the only thing to keep me sane during this whole ordeal! So far i have had the reversal code of 766 with our entire refund amount beside it and the 290 code with 0.00 beside of that. NO 846 code yet !! My cycle codes have changed to 20151105 and the dates for the 290 and 766 codes have 4/6/2015 beside them as well. My IS form was originally received on 2/12. The offset is mine for defaulted student loans. i did not work any last year and the entire income was that of my husbands. So with all that being said can someone give me some insight i have seen other people with the same codes and cycle dates receiving refunds. Up until yesterday every time i have called in to the irs i have gotten nothing we have all we need nothing is wrong just wait blah blah blah! I called yesterday and all of a sudden this not so pleasant or knowledgeable lady says that there is a 4 week hold on my account until April 17th. when i asked her why she said that’s just what the computer does and that my claim was completed therefore there was no “real” person to speak to as that there is no one handling my claim anymore. So i called back today spoke with a mr coleman and he said there was a split refund he could see but it was still my entire amount. he wasn’t able to explain any further what that meant only that i should possibly call the bureau of fiscal services. So I asked about a tax advocate and he told to contact one. So i did… never got to speak to an advocate per say but was told that there was “RO” on my account which meant rolling???? was told to call back next friday of there had been no change that means it may be unpostable?? I know this is long but someone PLEASE HELP!! Does this sound familiar to anyone or has it happened to anyone else?? Im trying to be patient but getting the runaround is getting old very quick! -
Tina
@ Jamie
You can call (800)829-0582 ext. 652. That is the number I just called and you have to hold for awhile (15-30 minutes) but you should be able to talk to a person that way.

FOLLOW UP:
I figured out how to get our transcripts and it says Return due date April 15th and Processed date March 16th. Does this mean I’m getting my return on the 15th?? -
Jamie
We submitted our taxes on 2/18 with the injured spouse, I have tried calling the IRS many times to see if they have a date for our return and when I get to the point where it says hold to speak with someone it tells me based on the call volume that there isn’t anyone who can speak with me and to try again later, what am I doing wrong?? Can someone please let me know which number is best to call and what numbers to push to get someone? lol. Also with submitting them on 2/18 how much longer do you think we’ll have to wait? thanks so much!!
-
stacey
When should I call the tax advocate helpline? I have been trying to reach a person for days and every time I call it says the call volume is too large and they cant accept my call at this time and to call back at another time.
-
@Tatiana Kimberley
If you sent the first two copies of your 1040, then you did file a duplicate return. When you send the IS form in you are only suppose to attach your W-4 and or 1099 forms to it, not any part of your 1040 return. I would give them a call. Explain what happened and ask what, if anything you need to send them.
-

Just wanted to post an update… Great news, I got my refund check in the mail today!!!! I filed my original return on Jan 28th excepted same date. Original refund was supposed to be dd on Feb 3rd, but my husband had a debt that took all of it. Files IS form and it was received on Feb 9th. Last week I was told my check would be ailed on Friday March 27th. Got it today on March 31rst……Good luck everyone…
-
Tatiana Kimberley
Hoping someone can help me out!!!!! I filed my IS form by regular mail and now my 2014 transcript is not showing up, the prior years have a little star next to them but on my return transcript for 2014 I just got a new code that says “duplicate return filed”. I’m a little confused because I didn’t submit a duplicate just the IS form and I believe what they asked for was the first 2 pages of my 1040. Has this happened to anyone else? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!
-
Gayle
Just a final update ..I received my check in the mail yesterday, which is exactly 7 weeks from the date my IS form was received by the IRS. All of my transcript info is listed below in a post from 3/23, in case it helps anyone. Good luck to everyone still waiting on their $$.
-

@Jamon April 2, will be two months since they received your IS form, which means at least eight weeks. They have eight weeks to process the form once it is received, when you mail it in. I would call if you don’t get an update to your transcripts by Friday. I mail my form in every year and have had it take anywhere from 4 1/2 weeks to 11 weeks to get my refund. The 11 week timeframe was when the person working on my form just neglected to release the refund, they didn’t finish the process, so you really should call soon.
-
Jamon
So I efiled and found out my wife’s student loans were gonna offset our refund. She made no income this year so I filed an injured spouse forum through the mail. My transcripts show up with a 971 Injured Spouse received on 2/2. This has been the only activity on my transcripts in two months. Is this normal? Also, why is it that other people are getting it before me if they have received dates later than me? Does anyone know the order method? Should I be worried that I did something wrong when filling the form out? Thanks in advance.

@V Hart
I hope you get good news soon! -
V Hart
@Tanya V- Nevermind I see where you made most of the money. That is horrible they took your taxes.. I don’t think they should be able to do that at all.
I received 100% of my State Taxes because I made 100% of the money, I was hoping the same was true with the Federal Taxes. Still waiting though.
-
V Hart
@Tanya V- So, did you and your husband both have income?
-
Tanya V
Woke up to some icky news this morning. Both the 846 amounts that posted last Friday were updated today to be towards the offset. With losing all of my state refund, I didn’t let this one slide. My husband and I both spent over 2 hours each on the phones, calling the IRS, Dept of Edu, and the debt collector. FINALLY got to a gentleman who told us that the larger of the two 846 amounts was supposed to be refunded to me on March 25 – but both actually posted to the Dept. of Edu as payments. He was rather upset at their mistake and now has to re-open and process our taxes to get us our refund. Maximum of a 3 week wait, but heck, I’ll take that for a few grand back. Also found out I can file a claim to get half of my state refund back too, since we’re a non-community state and the only debt is for my husband. So, good news kinda.
Best wishes to all others waiting for update. My WMR has not updated once since losing all bars beginning of Feb.
-
V Hart
So, I received a paper from Turbo Tax stating that they did not have enough funds to cover my charges for tax preparation so I need to pay them before April 3rd. It said that I had an offset and after the taxes were applied to it there just wasn’t enough to cover it.
I then called the irs because I do not live in a community property state, my husband did not earn any of the income and they told me that it was sent to the IS department and at someones desk t be worked on.
Still a code 570.

@pam
@tinaafter my 766 reversal refund code my account balance came back with a (-)X,XXX and after they entered the 846 refund issue code it went back to 0.00. SO it is my understanding that your refund was approved and it is what they owe you, or need to release to you. Once you get the 846 code it will go back to 0.
-
Tina
@ Pam
I just looked that up and by the account balance it has a (-) sign and then what my return should have been. But I am sure she is exactly right. They already got my payment for his student loans on his account. So they will have to get that money back from them. I am really hoping that next week I get the code to where they will send the check the next week. But when all of this first started and I called his student loan place they told me that once they were informed that they would have 3 weeks to send the check out. I thought they meant that when they got the info that I was supposed to get it that the student loan place would send the check out to me. But the next time they said that the check would be coming from the IRS. So, I may still have a 3-4 week wait. I checked myeddebt.com and it still shows the payment from my taxes, but does not show them sending it back to the IRS yet. I hope all of that makes sense and I will check the student loan stuff again tonight when I get off work. Good luck to everyone waiting for good news today!

Pam
@Amy,
Oops sorry Amy! Reading too many posts.
TY for info. I am glad to hear that it’s been processed and will EVENTUALLY be on its way. Have a great day! -
Anonymous
@Pam- I am not Tina, but my tax advocate said that the reason it is not issued the same day is if the debt was already intercepted. It was in my case so they had to get that money back first before it could be issued as a refund. I had that negative amount for a week. Today I updated to the refund issued.
-
Pam
I just got the same codes as you today. Up in the top left corner is says “account balance” with a -$0000.00 amount. Does yours say the same? Do you know if that means that that amount is what’s definitely going to be issued soon? Not sure why it wasn’t issued same day as most other peoples were.

I did get some of my other codes today when I checked. I got the 766 reversal of refund with the date of 4-15-15, the 290 additional tax assessed and 2nd 971 notice issued dated 04-13-15.
-
ALJ
Well I did not have a reversal code as of 6:45 AM this morning but my amended return has been adjusted and I was told that the notice issued – just a letter telling me hey now you owe us money but she stated that my injured spouse should be completed within the next 2 weeks (8 week countdown from Feb 17). Anyway I am still waiting just don’t understand why it takes so long to determine who paid what -credits etc…
Maybe next week I will have the reversal code and refund issued statement.

@ALJ
Thank you, I have been reading this page almost every day to see how fast it is going but wasn’t sure if it was from the date you sent it or they posted that they received it. I just looked at my transcript this week. Let us know if it updates. I will check on Friday and post again.
-
stacey
Well still nothing. I know when I filed the IS form that it would take 8 to 11 weeks but now that people are slowly getting their money I am getting annoyed. Filed the 29th and accepted the day after. I efiled the IS form with my return. Bars left mid February. I have been stuck with a 570 code for weeks now!! What number can I call to check on this?
-
ALJ
I was told to count 6 – 8 weeks from when they received your injured spouse form. The IRS received my Injured Spouse on Feb. 17 and my transcripts show the 971 code received 2-17-2015. I am now on my fifth week so hopefully I will see code 766 – reversal of refund applied to non-irs debt and code 846 – refund issued on my transcripts this Friday March 27, 2015.
I will let you know on Friday if there was any movement on my account.

Tina
This is my first year filing the IS form because our refund was offset for my husband’s student loans. All of the income was mine. I efiled the 10th or 11th of Feb. When I realized there was going to be an offset I mailed the IS form on Feb13th. My transcript says that the IS claim was received 3-12-15 with the 971 code. So my questions are: Is that the date that I count 6-8 weeks from? Or how long should I expect it to take to see my refund from there? And has anyone received theirs faster than the 6 weeks from the claim received date? Sorry I am so confused, I have tried figuring this out but this is rough with it being the first time to do this.

I finally have a date for when my refund will be sent! I discovered this forum this year and am glad I stumbled upon it. Good luck to those still waiting on their refunds and just in case it helps anyone, I am posting my info below …
I live in Texas and have been filing IS for the last 4 years. The first year I filed the form via mail , the next two I efiled with my return and this year via priority mail separate from my return. Prior to this year I have received my refund anywhere from 9-11 weeks after filing. Last year a “1800# Irs rep” told me it took longer when you file with your return because it has to be sent to a separate department for processing so I mailed it the day after I efiled my return.
Efiled return – 2/5 via TAXACT; return accepted 2/6
IS form mailed priority mail @ post office 2/6

@Jeff, I’m certainly not an expert on this since this is my first time filing the IS. But if yours goes like mine you should receive your 846 refund update on your transcript next Friday morning. Then you can call and they will tell you the date the check will be mailed. Hopefully your wait will soon be over…Good luck…
-
Jeff
I efiled my return and then found out the after i was supposed to get my refund that it was offset so i filed out an IS form and mailed it in it was received on feb 11. so it the 21 of march and as of yesterday i got the 766 code for reversal of non irs debt so now i guess it still the waiting game on when they will let me know when they will release the money

I am just posting my experience with filing an IS for the first time. I first filed on Jan 28th and was accepted that day. My original refund was supposed to be deposited on Feb.3. Instead they took it all for my husband’s debt. I faxed my IS form on Feb.2. I called the IRS and was told that you couldn’t fax the IS so I sent in another one by mail. After I waited about 3 weeks my transcript updated to IS form received on Feb 2. The following week it updated again to IS form received on Feb 9. So I found out that they had indeed received my faxed IS form on Feb. 2nd. That day I called the IRS to find out if sending the second form would put my refund behind any , I was told no at the time. This was not true. First lesson, you can indeed fax an IS form. At this time the WMR was saying that my refund had been applied to a non IRS debt. I checked my transcript on March 13th and it had updated to 766 reversal. Then I checked again on March 20th and got my 846 refund code with an as of date of April 6th. I called the IRS ad they told me that a check would be sent out on March 27th. I just checked WMR and it had updated to your refund is being processed with the original amount of my refund. So I am very happy. I was the only one who worked because my husband is disabled, so I get it all back…. Just wanted to let everyone who is waiting for news on their refunds know how it went for me so far. My fingers are crossed that my check comes to me rather swiftly…LOL, just glad hat this wait is almost over.. Good luck to everyone else out there.

@Jeff
I’m not exactly sure what 290 means but it seems to be a normal thing for IS filers to get. 971 means you’ll get something in mail – possibly – which might request additional information or to inform you that they’ll be an offset. 570 means that they are processing your return – usually the IS form gives you the 570. I’ve seen that this code can pop up for so many reasons, sometimes at times where nothing special is really happening. Did you eFile you return/IS or did you mail them? -
Jeff
I got the 290 additional tax assessed code with a cycle date of 20151105 with 0.00 what dose that mean anyone know? Also i got a 971 Notice issued what will this notice talk about? I still have no 570 code. Do i have to have the 570 code to get my refund?
-
V Hart
Congrats @Tanya V.. I did not get my codes at all.. It’s still a 570 for me…UGH so frustrating. I did get my state taxes and I received all of them because this is a non-community state…so I’m hoping for the same as far as federal and wish this would just hurry up.
-
Tanya V
@Mellisa
Yes, all three codes (270, 846, 846) came today. I’ve been at a standstill with the 570 since beginning of Feb.@Gayle
I have no idea. I think the date is when we should have it by? -

Tanya, I got the same thing on mine, but the last update on the page is this:
290 Additional tax assessed 20151105 04-06-2015 $0.00And there is no 846 Refund issued at this time. Did both of those codes, 290 and 846 come for you at the same time, or were they different days? Thanks!
-
Gayle
@tanyav
I have the same date as you do for my refund issue date. Do you know if that’s when they will physically send the check or is it possible they’ll send it before? -

@ashley
It is! I don’t live in a community property state either. I wasn’t given any explanation, just that I could file a claim to have the IS dept of the state recheck our return. I’m hoping they can give me something. We both made income last year – I made way more than him, since I worked the full year vs him working around half year. -
ashley
@Tanya V
That is really scary! My husband made all of the income this year, and 3k of the return went towards my student loans, we don’t live in a cps so I have been assuming we would get back some if not all of the return. I REALLY hope this doesn’t happen, was there an explanation given at all as to why they took all of it? Did you both make income this year?
-
Tanya V
@ALJ
Not sure. I called to ask about it, and the rep couldn’t tell me why. I explained our situation so she put in a claim for the actual IS dept of our state to re-check our return. I thought I’d at least get my portion back.. isn’t that the point of filing IS?! I hope your wait isn’t too much longer.@Carmelia
Looks like your IS is still processing – that’s what the 570 code means. All the other codes are normal. The processing date and the cycle code don’t really mean much when you file IS (at least from what information I can find) but generally those are the dates you should expect your refund to be done. Right now you’re waiting for a 971 (if you mailed in your IS form) or an 846 (refund issued) code. I think there is another one for what portion your offset will be.. but I don’t recall what that one is. Check you transcript online mid-late morning on Fridays, as that’s when it appears that our transcripts are updated.
@Chris
I have no idea – hopefully someone else here has some knowledge of that issue?
@Brook
What codes are on your transcript? They mean something, but it’s not always the same as what another person’s means, even with the same codes. They can give you an idea of what’s going on. -
Carmelia
Someone please tell me what all this means??!!!

My story
So we efiled with Jackson Hewitt – accepted same day 1/28/2015. Went home realized all income was not accounted for so we had to amend return(which I had to mail in). We had a DDD of 2/11/15 but I was shocked (nice word) to find out that all of our refund would be sent to my husband’s student loans. So instead of just filing an amended return (which caused us to owe money back to the IRS) I also had to file the injured spouse.
I am being patient but it has been 8 weeks since we Efiled and 5 weeks since the IRS in California received my Injured spouse claim and amended return. I called the other day and I was told that it would take 12 – 16 weeks (LOL) before all of my paperwork is processed but I called back and a different representative told me 6 – 8 weeks. We will see who is telling the truth but I am praying that we will see a paper check in 3 weeks.
I live in Ohio – not a community property state so hoping that they only keep his “portion” to pay back on his loans.
Tanya, why did they keep some of the return if the loans are you husbands?
-
Tanya V
Bummer :(
I received a letter today that even with the IS filed, that they will be taking the entire state refund towards my husband’s student debt. I was so excited last week when it updated online and said we were going to be issued our entire amount, because I spoke with the state at the beginning of the month and they said it was taking longer because we filed IS and that they were processing how much, if any, to take out for his debt. :/ I guess that’s just under $3K less that we have to pay back now, but I wouldn’t have paid someone $300 to file for me if all my refunds would be taken anyway. Praying for good news tomorrow – and for all of you! -
Chris
My transcript updated to code 976 – duplicate filed Last week. Did anyone get this code before getting the 846 refund code or should I be worried? My as of date updated to march 30th also but my cycle code stayed the same 20150405…. At least something has changed but not sure what it means help!!!

DD was in our account late last night. I think this was the quickest ever, usually we stretch into the 11 or 12 week range.
Good luck to the rest of you. Hopefully you all will have good news on your transcripts this Friday. -
Brook
This is my first year filing IS and I’m completely confused by what all the codes mean. If it wasn’t for this page I never woulda had a clue what was going on with our refund. Can someone please help me understand.
-
Tanya V
@stacey
I have all the same stuff as you, except I filed/accepted 1/28. From what I could find, you’ll only see the 971 (IS form received) if you paper mailed it. Best wishes for an update for you Friday morning – it’s been a long wait!@V Hart
I live in a non-community state too. When I called my state regarding my refund, I was told that it was just being held up by the IS form (it said it would be done by 3/4, but then changed that day to still processing with no date). We have been in contact with my husband’s student federal debt and they say they aren’t going to take any money, since we’ve been paying. Maybe that’s why our full state refund is expected? We’ll see soon, or at least by the 27, I hope. Good luck to you! I hope we all get good news soon :) -
V Hart
Hey @Tanya V- I too got my full amount from state and my wages is now showing on mine too, but no change in the code 570 on my transcripts ugh. You mentioned that you got your full amount from state, this is my first year filing IS… I was curious, since I live in a non-community state, and 100% of the income was mine, am I most likely to get back 100% of the refund?
-
stacey
Filed 1/29 and accepted the next day. Shortly after bars left in WMR. I am STILL showing 570 – additonal information pending 2/23/2015. Is this my IS form pending? Should I be calling the IRS? I know a few people said that they seen their IS form was accepted. I do not see anything except the the normal two codes then the 570.
-
Tanya V
My state refund updated today that it was completed with the full amount still listed – said direct deposit by 3/27. I also noticed my IRS transcript Wages is now available – is this good news? Should I get excited for possibly 846 code this Friday?
Still no changes on account transcript in regards to codes or cycle date.
-
Cathy
Anyone with a cycle date of 20150605 received anything? My transcript has not updated for at least 3 weeks and I’m getting frustrated. I know this process takes forever, but that doesn’t stop the frustration. This is my 5th year filing IS and you would think they would have something in place for this. I guess that’s just thinking logical and when it comes to the IRS there is nothing logical….
-
Gayle
@mariah
Yes, that amount is what you will be getting back, I have been filing IS for a few years now and looked back at my other transcripts and once they are done processing , you’ll see two refunds issued, one with that $ amount and the other that says refund issued to the non-irs debt.
-
Mariah
Finally some movement on my transcript… it says “Reversal of Refund Applied to Non-IRS Debt” and then it has a (small) dollar amount beside it. Is THIS all I am getting back?
-
Veronica Hart
This is so freaking irritating! I NEED that money!
-

WMR updated overnight to show a DDD of 3/18. 6 weeks + 1 day from my E-file date. May be the shortest processing time yet.
-
Tanya V
They say we should update every Friday morning. Some sites say IRS updates during the night, except Sunday and Monday night.
-
rick
how often are transcripts updated. thanks
-
Gayle
Dewayne,
I also have the 290 with the same cycle date. I called the 1-800.. ext.652 today and was told my IS would be completed next week and refund issued the following week. He said to allow 2 wks for the check to come, so… 3-4 wks before ck is received. Not sure how accurate this is but that would be 8 weeks from when my IS form was received. -
Dewayne
I went from a 971 and am now at a code 290, with a cycle of 20151005 and $0.00.
Does anyone know what this means?
-
Tanya V
I don’t think I’ll ever file early again. No changes for me. 20150505 02-23-2015 and 570 – STILL.
Congrats to those who had an update today! It shows progress and hope for the rest of us. Efiled 1/28 H&R, accepted the same day (IRS confirmed it was accepted 1/28 too, and that they have my IS) but nothing else. Same for state. :/ Maybe next week.
-
Chris
Ok so my transcript updated this morning to code 976 – duplicate filed? Did anyone get this code before getting the new refund code or should I be worried? My as of date updated to march 30th also but my cycle code stayed the same 20150405…. I’m excited that something has changed but not sure what it means help!!!

UPDATE FINALLY: Filed 1/29 and accepted the same day via TurboTax. cycle code was 20150505 and code 570 for what seemed like forever…..until this morning! Now I have a code 846 (Refund issued 03-30-15) and a new cycle code of 20151005! Booyachasha! It’s about time something gave. Hope everyone else sees changes soon.
PS. Still no change tho on WMR by the way
-
Anonymous
Finally! Our 846 code, with a date of 3/30/15. WMR still hasn’t changed.
E-filed thru TurboTax on 2/3. Cycle date has been 2015050 w/ a date of 2/23/15 the entire time.
Now to wait and see when it actually hits our account. -
Anonymous
We got our 846!! No change on WMR, but it has a date of 3/30. BUT, now I have a new question, there are two 846 codes on the transcript. Is one going to us and the other to my husband’s student loans, and if so is there any way to tell which is which?
-
Anonymous
Ack! I’m losing my patience! First time I’ve filed IS this year. Transcript updated 2/20 that IS claim was received 2/4. No updates since. I have high hopes for an update tomorrow of any kind. I owe to state & I’m depending on receiving federal refund in time to pay the state out of it. *Crossing Fingers*
-
V Hart
Idk if you all are noticing a trend, but most of us filed on or around 1/29 and have a cycle date of 20150505 and DDD of 2/23. None of us have seen and update and we are all frozen on code 570…..
Please tell me that you all are seeing this too? I feel like our taxes are stuck and our IS forms are stuck and held.
People after us are getting their returns.
This is also my first year filing and it’s been HELL and a nightmare. I always file the first day I can file…. ugh maybe the couples credit isn’t worth it and I’ll file separated next year…better to have less money than go through this torture.

Received an update from the IRS today. since my transcript has not shown any movement. I spoke with a very nice lady – one who could finally help! She looked up my account and told me that the IRS received my IS form on 02/05, even though I filed, what I thought with my tax return on 01/31. Apparently, my software provider sent this form separately from my tax return. She said since the IS form was received separately, it would take approximately 8 weeks from the date they receive it to process my return. She said a letter was sent to me on the 9th of March. The letter was probably in regards to an offset (which I already knew). In all, that I should receive the remaining amount of my refund by 04/02. It could be sooner (sure hope so).
Today, my transcript is showing cycle 20150505 still, and the 570. No updates to my transcript as of yet. At least I know that things are moving.
-
Deveney
Just an overall, update….
The debt is mine, Student Loans, I did not work this year, my husband made all of the money.
We do not live in a community property state.
I am not sure if that is the reason our refund came quicker than other participants.
I did notice a trend on some facebook posts that IS transcripts are normally updates on Fridays… I don’t know if that is actually true, but it seems most I see/talk to on facebook, had an update on transcripts fridays.I am REALLY hoping that other participants start seeing forward movement in their refunds.
Keep the Faith!
-

@Jared
My WMR did update, Sunday overnight, I saw Monday morning, 3/10, that my deposit was scheduled for 3/11, and that if I hadn’t received it by 3/16 to contact the IRS. -

This is our first year filing IS and what a pain it has been! We e-filed via Turbo Tax on 1/30 and have a cycle code of 20150505 and processing date of 02/23/2015. I was able to confirm that they had recived our IS form and that it was in the IS department, but was unable to get any additional information and they told us not to call back before 4/27. There have been no changes on our transcript and we lost the bar on WMR weeks ago. I’m not a particularly patient person and this is driving me mad. Hope we start seeing some changes soon as it seems like there have been some refunds coming to those with 02/23/2015 processing dates, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll see some change soon. I know this is just a rant, but it seems like there are a lot of us in the same slow-moving boat!
-
Tanya V
@Deveney – Congrats!!
I have practically the same everything as you,. except I efiled 1/28.
Any news from you V Hart? We had similar situations too.

Just an update, eFiled with IS through Turbo Tax on 1/29, accepted the same day. cycle code 20150505.
Stuck on 570 with processing date of 2-23 FOREVER… Last Friday, Transcripts updated with my 846 code with a new code of 20150905.
Today My refund was deposited into my bank.
This was only my 2nd year filing IS, last year was paper, did not realize there was an offset until after processing it took 11 weeks.
This year 5 1/2 weeks.
I hope everyone else gets 846’s soon, the first round is on me….. Cheers! -
LMC
Sharon, no, my transcript does not show code 971. I’m just stuck at the 570. It shows it was to be processed on 3-02-2015. A relative of mine (who efiled thru turbotax also) is stuck at code 570 as well and it shows hers was to be processed on 2-23-2015. So far, nothing seems to be happening as far as processing goes.
-
Tanya V
I’ve read that it won’t show the 971 IS form code on your transcript unless you mailed it in after you filed.
-
sharon
Lmc, I am with you, I filed though turbo tax and efiled my IS as well through them. On my transcript it is not even showing the IS form. Is yours?
-

I talked to a person yesterday and i was told that i have to wait 45 days from the date they received my IS form which will be the end of this month. I maid it to Kansas City so i guess like everyone else i have to wait

Just so everyone knows I had a 846 .cycle code was last thursday. I got a letterrible monday saying I will get the money in a few weeks. It was supossed to be DD in bank but we received a check in the mail today. WMR never updated either. Just thought I would let everyone know
-
LMC
Like most of you, I am stuck with the 570 code. I efiled thru turbotax on 1/29 and included the IS form. This is my 6th year having to file the IS form but my 1st year efiling it. With mailing it in, it always took 5 weeks to get a DD. 5 weeks has come and gone and I don’t think I will ever efile it again. I don’t understand the order in which the IRS processes these forms as others who filed after me have already received their refund.
-
miss a
i had to let you all know my story with this I.S form i found out they took my money the day i was going to get my dd so i mailed it in to my local irs office (on 2/4)which they say online so my local IRS office is in Memphis Tennessee I’ve waited two weeks called the phone number they said they have not received it yet so I waited another week called again they still haven’t received it started checking my transcript nothing I decided to go to my local IRS office waiting in line for 4 hours only for them to tell me we do not receive mail at this location we do not process mail here if we have gotten your papers we would have sent it to Kansas City omg so yesterday I called and asked them have they received it again she said no I told her about the situation and then she said well you could send another paper in butt I can’t tell you what to do so i said i am going to send another overnight fedex she gave me the address mailed and I tracked it they got it today at 11 o’clock now ill see if anythung changes

It took a week to get the letter. I’m getting super impatient for sure. I don’t understand why they won’t let go of the money if everything is done. Makes no sense. WMR still hasn’t updated for me either. I guess I’ll just wake up checking everything every morning until I get it. :-(

@Christy so I filled on 2/6 got a 846 on Fri 3/6 with a date of 3/23 next to it I checked wmr it’s says still processing no ddd yet I hope I don’t get a letter stating it’s gonna take a couple more weeks I really need the money as I bet u do to I don’t understand stand it’s done so just give us are money

Last Tuesday I looked at my transcripts and had a cycle date of 20150805 with code 846. Still no money. Today I received a letter in the mail saying everything has been approved but we will not get our money for a few more weeks. Has anyone else got this?

Reading some of the past few comments, I think I got overly excited :(. I filed 1/29 and just check WMR and transcripts….no change on either…..still same ole crap..570, 20150505, processing….ugh

Just so people know there is hope.
E-filed my IS claim with my return on 2/2.
My transcript has a cycle of 20150905 with an 846 refund issued code.
WMR updated today stating my refund should be deposited 3/11.
Just some background on my WMR status. It had changed a few weeks ago from showing the status bar to just having a statement that I would be notified when the refund was sent.
Today I have the status bar back showing approved and giving me the refund date.

I spoke with some guy yesterday from the IRS, he told me that my taxes were accepted on the 29th of January as well as the IS. That’s the day we filed our taxes and submitted the IS. The rude lady before that told us it was accepted the 2nd. So we will see our taxes from the 13th-20th sometime.
I don’t live in a community state, so I’m assuming I get all of my taxes back. I made 100% of the income.

I don’t understand the method they use to process these forms. I know it depends on who processes your claim, but how do they dole them out to the processors? Is it by state, social security numbers, last names? Is it computerized or do they get the actual forms handed to them? I have nightmares of our form being on the bottom of an in box somewhere, and all the new forms get heaped on top of it.
One would think that it was computerized. And as an agent finished one form, the next form in line would pop up, but I don’t think that’s how it’s done.
I have seen so many people on here that submitted everything after us, and who have already either seen refunds or at least the 846 code.
I looked back 4 years, and every single one of ours was completed on the last possible day in the 11th week time frame. Almost as if they held it to that day.
My return was accepted on Tuesday February 6th. I efiled thru turbo tax, and included the IS form with it. I’m stuck on Cycle date 20150505 and -2/23/2015. -

Hey there fellow IS filers! So my husband filed via turbotax on January 26th and then on February 4th his whole refund(9k) was offset to pay my unpaid student loans(i haven’t worked in 2 years) from before we were even married. So after some research we found out about the injured spouse form so on February 9th he went down to our local IRS office and filled it out without attaching anything(w2…) and turned it in that same day. After 1 week he found out you can check transcripts online and there was nothing on there about the IS form even being received so on February 23 he called and spoke to an IRS agent who said yes it had been received 2/9 and give it 6-8 weeks. Then on 2/27 the transcript finally updated to 971 IS received. On 3/6 the transcript gave code 846 refund issued cycle 20150905 they did keep around 1800$ which i am assuming from what we have read is minus the married tax break but at least we finally know money is coming this way thank God lol. We do live in California a community property state

Nicole- Google IRS transcripts. It will take you to the IRs website to order your transcripts. You can either view them online or have them send you a copy in the mail. If you click view online you can either view them as a guest or create a username so that you can sign in to check your transcripts. In order to create an account it will ask you some questions to verify your identity.

Hi there – my husband and I files Injured Spouse and it was accepted on 2/6/15. I keep seeing people looking at “transcripts” but not sure how to do that – can anyone give advise please? Would like to know whats going on with our return since its been a month now.

I filed my IS first week of February. My transcript updated Tuesday 3/3 with code 846 refund issued and a cycle code 20150805. From what I have researched that cycle code was Wednesday or Thursday. But I have no money and WMR still says we have received your refund and are processing it. Anyone know what is happening

This morning when I checked my transcripts at 7am it had changed my as of date from March 9, 2015 to March 23, 2015. Cycle code is still 20150405 and no refund issued either. I checked my transcripts again and my as of date went back to March 9th. What does that mean? I am on hold for a tax advocate.

@Deveney That’s great news! We filed on 01/31, accepted the same day, so hopefully we will hear some good news soon. Checked our transcripts this morning and we are still stuck in that dreaded 201050505 cycle!

Finally got an update this morning on my transcript.
eFiled IS with taxes on 1/29 accepted same day.
stuck with 570 code and date of 2/23…. FOREVER.
FINALLY, This morning I get movement with my 846 code with 3/23 date.
My cycle date changed from 20150505 to 20150905.
Hopefully many more of us that were stuck in the 20150505 cycle date will receive movement today as well. -

Injured spouse completion is still running about 6 to 9 weeks to get it.I called on it recently.Mine was received on the 9th of February.Expected they said between 4/9 and 4/30.There ‘s pretty much nothing else you can do.Problem is with they IRS, they dont care if you owe the debt or not.Ours was set off for back support, but it was not owed cause I had it modified last year.So see they still took it anyway, now I have to suffer for their mistakes and failure to investigate the issues or owed debts.

I was wondering about the tax advocate too… I’ve read other forums where it really helped people to receive their state and/or federal refund a lot faster.
I called the IRS today and fibbed a little to get them to actually check my account. They accepted my return 1/28 as I expected, and apparently my refund has been processed and approved, just waiting on IS to figure out if and what amount they are taking. He said everything looked okay on our account and no notices, but that it could take around 11 weeks from 1/28 – and to call back if no word or deposit by then. So kinda good news.. right?
-

MaryR- When did you mail in your injured spouse form? I spoke to an IRS rep earlier this week about my status as well. My refund was taken on 2/4. He stated once the return was completed and you mailed in the injured spouse claim that they had 8 weeks to process it. I had inquired about a tax advocate. He was trying to convince me not to call them. He said something about they wouldn’t want to work with that deadline, because it would have to be done within a month and probably wouldn’t want to expedite it for just a cycle or two. I haven’t called them, because I wanted to see if my transcripts updated tomorrow. I could have sworn that the admin Stargazer had an injured spouse form and a TA, so I think they do help with injured spouse forms. I don’t know as this is my first year ever having to file as an injured spouse.

My husband and I are in the process of dealing with the IS situation. We are currently facing foreclosure (and our refund will help avoid that). When we called the advocate to inquire about expediting the IS claim due to hardship, she said she had no idea what we were talking about and that she can’t help us. She said “things have changed” and they can’t help us or accept an application due to “external debt”. They’ve already offset our refund. According to another person at IRS, we are eligible for IS, but the advocate says she can’t help us. Anyone else ever in this situation?!

@v Hart
Well that’s some good news! I hope you receive your state refund very soon and I hope the federal as well! -

I haven’t gotten any updates with the codes on my transcript and no update on WMR. Haven’t been able to get help through the IRS. I think I will call the tax advocate line tomorrow again and see if I can say I have a hardship because we do have 5 kids…idk if that matters. I doubt it.
As far as my state return, I am getting it back after emailing the states advocate advising them that I have 5 kids, I need my money and it’s not fair that they are trying to keep my money a bit longer to draw more interest on it. The same day he emailed back advising the funds have been released and will be sent this week. Kansas Dept of Rev. updated their site today and I get my full amount back (offset was applied to that too but the debt is my husbands).
Now, it’s a waiting game with federal and I need it before June.

No news today. Our state refund said ever since 1/28 that it was accepted and being processed, that it should be complete by 3/4 – today it switched messages to just saying processing and to call a number if help was needed. I called and was told the refund was fine, no issues or notices sent, just that it could take up to 90 days (and our state refund usually always takes around 2 months anyway).
Regarding our federal return…
Called the Offset # 800-304-3107 and instead of entering a SS#, we were transferred to a rep who said they have no paperwork or anything from the IRS yet stating an offset or any amounts – NOTHING. If you follow the prompts and enter your SS#, it will generally tell you to call US Dept. ED at 800-621-3115 and we did that – nothing from them either; seems like the IRS might not be working on our return. We even went as far to call the actual debt collection for the fed. student debt – they haven’t heard a peep either.Tried my luck calling the IRS too, again, and had both ladies refuse to look at anything since “it hasn’t been 11 weeks so we are still working on it, no, we can’t look it up and tell you anything yet…” Looks like filing early is biting us in the butt..

I’m frustrated because it isn’t my offset, I expect that they will be giving the entire refund back, if I made 100% of the money? Yes, mine is mostly from our dependents and EIC…and my income. He hasn’t had a job at all this year due to other issues.

So has anyone with a cycle code of 20150605 gotten any kind of update? I’m showing the following codes and dates
150- 3-2-2015
806- 4-15-2015
766- 4-15-2015
768- 4-15-2015
570- 3-2-2015Can anyone shed any light on what might be going on?

No real update on my account except that our IS form was received 2/13. Beyond that nothing on my account. I did speak to a woman at the IRS that told me that if a decision is made that ends in getting some of the offset back the IRS only has a certain amount of time to pay up or they have to pay you interest. We filed our form by mail after e-filing the 1040. For us the amount of time before interest will be due is 56 days if I remember correctly, and I assume they mean only business days and not weekends or holidays ( they have 8 weeks from when the form is received).

@V Hart:
I completely understand your frustration. I finally got through to a lady last week and she absolutely refused to check my return until the 11 week mark. I’ve been looking up things and other forums online a lot, and it seems most people still can’t get an answer after 11weeks – they are told to try again in 30 days – I really hope that isn’t the case. How hard can it be to check for offsets, take whatever money necessary and refund the rest?!I’m stuck on my husband’s federal student loans as an offset, but we set up a payment plan last year and have been paying on time each month. Most of our refund is from having three dependents and my income, as I claim less for taxes on my pay checks.
-

So, I called the IRS like 1000000000 times this week and I kept getting the run around with the stupid robot…and it kept saying they couldn’t handle calls for my tax issue, no matter what I pushed. Ridiculous, really.
Well, I finally called the tax advocate who got me a direct line to an IRS lady, that was very rude, saying they wouldn’t have any information until it hit 11 weeks.
I filed my taxes 1/29… it’s been up for processing since 2/2. I am in Cycle 20150505.
Well, she informed me that right now it says it will be processed on 4/20! What the heckkkkkkk! I have had a code 570 for years now….By the time I get taxes I’ll hit the lotto!
-
Anonymous
@Cathy – when did you file and get accepted? i’m trying to figure out about when I will be assigned to someone.
-
Cathy
So I got sick of getting no answers and called, I went to a totally different area than the IS area and got a super nice lady on the phone. She put me on hold and checked into my return and said it was assigned to someone in the IS department on 02/12/15. So that’s a start…

@Everyone With A Spouse That Has Student Loan Debt
I’ve noticed this is plaguing many of your returns. You should all consider having your spouse consolidate their student loans. That would take them out of default and no longer be an offset. Afterwards you can either get a forbearance or deferment to postpone payments, or even just send them what you can….if you send them even $10 a month….they can’t do anything. It shows you are making some sort of effort. Just a thought.
-
BillsOnTopOfBills
Well that’s always an option but you would be missing out on tax breaks designed for married couples, that being said it is super annoying waiting for a refund your due but ive always heard better late than never. But you really gotta tell your hubby how you feel maybe he can get a job and pay his dues… In my case my wife owes about 60k in student loans but what can you do she looks great in a thong lol
-
Cathy
It’s just not right, I understand they have to make sure we aren’t getting any money someone else is owed but I make 100% of the income for our family. I am honestly thinking of divorcing my H so I don’t have to file IS anymore.

Hey Cathy I too have 20150605 you and I are stuck in the same predicament usually about 12-14 weeks (from date accepted) go by before you get the 870 refund issued code, that being said i expect my refund around April but some years I had to wait till May will see how this year goes

Hey @Chris I seem to have the same information as you with the offset saying it happened on the 16th but it happened on the 4th and i have no update of it even being received yet even though i filed injured spouse as soon as i was notified about the offset which was on the 31st of January. Have you heard anything more or had any luck? this is my first year filing injured spouse beings i didn’t know i had to until after i had already filed.

This is just an update for everyone. My transcript updated a few days ago after I called the IRS and badgered them about it (although they will try to get rid of you by telling you to wait 14 weeks to call, I don’t have time for that we have bills to pay). I got a code 971, IS received 2/18/2015. From what I am seeing here, the IS is updated every Friday on the transcript. The WMR has no update and I don’t expect one since they seem to be so crowded this year. Hopefully I get the refund back soon, or at least I get regular updates.
BTW my “as of” date on the transcript changed, does anyone know what that means?
-
V Hart
Yup, same thing here, Tanya. Exact same code 570, expect date 2/23/2015 and same cycle: 20150505. I filed mine 1/29 and was accepted that day.
It seems that we are all stuck if we’re in that cycle.

I’m still stuck with a 570 code and nothing else. My cycle was 20150505 and that has passed with no new updates. My 570 has 02-23-2015 next to it, but nothing changed this last week. We e-filed everything 1/28 accepted the same day. Hoping other people are having better luck. Before needing to file the IS, I always got my return back within 3 weeks.
-
Chris
As long as the IRS is sticking to the same cycle code format as last year the codes can be broken down using the info below.
The 1st 4 #s = year, next 2 #s = cycle week, last 2#s = day of the week
Cycle weeks begin on Thursdays so the 1st Cycle week started on Thurs. Jan 8th, the 2nd cycle week would be Thurs. Jan. 15th, the 3rd would be Thurs Jan. 22 and so on.
The days of the week are only business days starting with Thursday as the 1st day of the cycle week and ending with Wednesday as the 5th day. The last 2 digits will always be one of the following depending on the day of your deposit.
01 – Thurs02 – Fri
03 – Mon
04 – Tues
05 – Wed
20150405
year – 2015
04 – 4th cycle week (beginning Thurs. Jan. 29th – Fri Jan. 30th – Mon. Feb. 2nd – Tues. Feb 3rd – Wed. Feb 4th)
05 – 5th day of cycle week 4 is Wed. Feb 4
20150405 = 2/4/2015 direct deposit date.
Sorry for this long winded explanation. Hope it helps.

Hey everyone.
I’ve never filed an Injured spouse form before this were. My husband and I were due back several thousand dollars this year. Apparently, it was all kept for a student loan debt that I was unaware of (my parents told me they “handled” it years ago). My husband made every dime of income this year. I haven’t worked since August of 2013.
We filed it through the mail (tracking number confirms delivery on February 8th, 2015).
How long do we have to wait before we hear ANYTHING? I’ve read it’s a minimum of 8 weeks before we can even get an update. How long do these usually take to go through?
Thanks in advance. Good luck to all of you!
-
Will, what if it’s a paper check? Do you know when that will be sent out? My wmr has never updated.

Chaddox, your cycle date is 3-5 for ddd. Mine is the same. WMR updated this morning to say expect the ddd to be sent by 3-4.

Hello all My name is Jeff and this is my first time filling IS. I have been watching my transcript for about a weeks and a half now. and Just yesterday i got that 971 saying they received my IS form. Normally how will it take from being received to refund? And since my wife made no income last year and the debt was in her name should i receive the whole refund?

I have a new cycle days today, 20150805 and all my choices are present including the 846. I have looked everywhere for the breakdown of cycle dates. No luck. Can anyone here break down my cycle date?

Jess – still no acceptance code :-(
My return was offset on the 4th of February. ..transcript lists it as the 16th. Still holding at the offset code!!
-

I have a question, feel I finally have somewhat of good news. I checked my transcript this morning, and I see the 846! But there’s another tc that I’ve not seen. Here’s what shows:
Code Explanation of Transaction Cycle Date Amount
150 Tax Return Filed 20150505 02-23-2015 $x,xxx.00
806 W-2 or 1099 Withholding 04-15-2015 -$x,xxx.00
570 Additional account action pending 02-23-2015 $0.00
290 Additional Tax Assessed 20150805 03-16-2015 $0.00
846 Refund Issued 03-16-2015 $x,xxx.00The 846 is my full amount \. I did file Injured spouse, my spouse had no income, and she had the debt. What is the 290 Code? And am I correct thinking my DDD is 3-5-15? Is this final now?
-
FrustratedHI
I efiled my taxes along with injured spouse form and got accepted on 1/29. I’ve been stuck with a code 570 for weeks now, and when I call, all they tell me is my forms are waiting to be reviewed by the injured spouse department! I’m getting so frustrated seeing others who have filed after me get movement and me nothing! I made all the money last year, and my husband is the one with the debt…. =(
-
I don’t understand how people that filed IS after me is getting their money already. My transcript has not updated in weeks..
-
V Hart
Since I made 100% of the income I was thinking I should receive all of our taxes back? But when I look at the Injured Spouse Form it has #15 Standard Deduction split between the two? Is this going to be an issue?
-

my transcript updated today with injured spouse received 2/9 hoping that’s a sign things will start moving.

Just posting this in case it helps anyone – my transcripts updated this morning. It is my understanding that injured spouse transcripts are updated every Friday morning. I have a refund code now, and I am getting the full amount back with a direct deposit date of March 5th. I e-filed my taxes on 2/2 with my IS form together. This was my first time doing that. Last two years I sent in a paper form separately and it took 3+ months. I will update back here once it actually gets deposited.

Quick question, I have a 898 refund applied to debt and then I have an 846 refund issued both are dated 2/16. Anyone have any clue what that means?

Hey all, I filed Injured spouse this year. Filed 1/28, accepted same day. E-Filed the Injured Spouse form as well through Turbo-Tax. I’ve been able to see my transcripts since 2/6/2014. The only thing showing is
Code Cycle Date Amount
150 Tax Return Filed 20150505 02-23-2015 x,xxx.00
806 W-2 or 1099 Withholding 04-15-2015 -x,xxx.00
570 Additional Account Action Pending 02-23-2015 0.00It has not updated, and the Cycle date has passed, the Date on the transcript has passed, and I have no bars on WMR.
What gives? I’ve never filed this way before. I’m the only one who works in the household, so all income is mine. I have no offsets, only my wife.
Thoughts on if I should be optimistic on getting something happening soon?
-
Deveney
@bltyler1 I have yet to see my transcripts update beyond 570 code with a 2/23 date.
WMR went from one bar to nothing last week or so.
I efiled IS with my return this year. So I’m just in a holding pattern. -

Has ANYONE who has filed injured spouse received a deposit yet? If so, did you mail it in after notice of offset? Did WMR ever update showing refund sent? Did transcript update to refund sent before it was received?
-

@Jessica you have to mail it to whatever irs return service center processes your return. If you efiled with hr block, tax act, etc you can ask them and they will tell you where to mail it. You can also Google it by typing your state and irs return service center. Two addresses will pop up one for making a payment and one without payment. You send it to the non payment center for your state.

@okie…. thank you…. i efiled mine and so far have yet to see to many get theirs yet… but so far it does seem to be going faster…. I am hoping anyways…. April seems so far away….

@Treestone. I mailed it in on 1/16. 4 days after I was accepted they received it on 1/20. It took 43 days in 2013. 63 days in 2014. And this year 36 days if I get check in mail tomorrow, 35 if I get it today. I count from the day they received the IS form not the day I was accepted.

@okie… did you efile your IS or did you mail it in?

Filed 1/11. accepted 1/12. Injured spouse received 1/20. Wmr never updated once. Trans updated 1/30 funds intercepted by non federal debt, trans updated again 2/6 reversal of debt applied to non federal debt, refund issued. cycle code 20150605. Called treasury yesturday check was mailed yesturday 2/23, WMR still has we have received your return and it is being processed. Once they process your return i think they just move on to the next one and update like a week or two later on wmr.

Well, I’m a first year Injured Spouse filer and I’m trying to be patient. :) I’ve always efiled and gotten my federal refund within 2-3 weeks – so being over the 21 day mark and not seeing any progress on my refund is killing me. We filed everything 1/28. I’ve heard rumors that people who filed on my date specifically were caught in a glitch – which I’m hoping isn’t true. I married last year and it’s my husband who has a student debt. Last year (we filed separate) both his federal and state were taken for the debt.
I can access both of our transcripts with the 570 code (new to me). Not sure if this means anything, but:
20150505 cycle date with 02-23-2015 – Could this mean they *might* further process our return this week? My code 570 says the same date – TODAY – 2-23-15. I’m being hopeful that it means something.I lost my bars about two weeks ago. It just has plain text saying it’s processing and will update with a refund date when available. No additional information.
I called the 1-800-829-0582 ext. 652 just now – waited maybe 10 minutes until a very friendly lady came on, and unfortunately told me that I had to wait until the 11 week mark before anyone could look into our return. I tried the 1-800-829-1040 four times, I did the “hold 0” after the first two menus with no luck. After that I tied to get through twice by following prompts – only to get thru the last attempt – and then told to call back due to high call volume.
Anyway, sorry for the long explanation. I wish us all the best! I was really looking forward to paying many bills off (and spoiling the kids) in February but the more and more I look online for helps/answers, the more it seems I shouldn’t get my hopes up until April/May at best.

Chris- Does it show on your transcript that it was received(code 971 i think)? Mine has the 2-16 as well and it happened on the 3rd.
-
Chris
ok I found it! For anyone else wondering…you just go to the IRS webpage and search transcript and follow the link. It is not the same as the “where’s my Refund” link!! It will take you through a process of verifying your identity and setting up a login. You can also continue through as a guest, but having a login will save you time when you look again…and we will all most likely be looking several times before we see what we want to see lol!
So mine only had the offset info, and it showed it as happening on the 16th of Feb. even though we go info that it happened on the 5th. No update yet on the IS form being received. I brought mine into my local office, so I know it was received….just hoping for an update soon!
-
Chris Burrell
Ok this is my first time having to file the injured spouse. Where can you check your transcripts as everyone is talking about? Is it the same “where’s my refund” link as you check your regular return? Please help….I need an update to save my sanity!!
-
Jessica
Does anyone know where you mail the IS form to? Thanks

@mariah
My transcripts updated on Friday to: 971 injured spouse claim received 2/9/15 with a zero amount as well. I think they are processing our forms. The others that saw it last week got an 846 code this week for their direct deposits. I am guessing that on Friday ours will get the 846 code with a dd for march 3rd, but who knows with the IRS.
-

@Mariah
I can’t really answer any of your questions as I am wondering the same things. My 971 says notice sent, there is nothing about anything being received. The refund says it was issued and then the next line shows that it was used to satisfy a debt, but that line shows $0. I do know the entity that was collecting has my entire refund and just don’t think this is correct. I will continue to update everyone. I plan to call the IRS again first thing in the morning. This is incredibly frustrating! -
Mariah
I filed my injured spouse after our return was processed and refund was intercepted. It now shows 971 on 2/06/2015 (received). Does yours say a $$ amount in the column beside that? Just wondering if it is normal for it to say $0.00 beside the 971 code and that means that they are still processing, or if this is the end all that means “you’re out of luck”? Thanks :-)

Andrea
One more question…
I am wondering how they will split our refund. We both get back a portion of earned income credit I know, however the two children we are claiming are mine (not his) and I also get an education credit for being in school. Will they split those up too or do I get all of those credits myself? We are not in a community property state. -

@everyone
We are now able to see that the attorney general account shows that my husbands ex spouse is getting it all!!!!!!! It’s only been 10 days since I filed IS form and the lady at IRS said she wouldn’t be able to tell me anything until it had been two weeks. So what happens now? Is she really getting all the refund? We live in Texas, a community property state, so I am entitled to half. How do they go about getting half, or any at all, back after they have already sent it? She doesn’t physically have it yet, it takes some time for them to send it to her. -
Jinxd
@Tonya
I did file it with my return, the only year I filed my IS separately was the first time and those transcripts have fallen off my history so I can’t see if it shows up that year or not. -
Anonymous
@Tonya I had to mail my form after my refund was intercepted as well. I was told by an IRS rep that if you elected to dd your original refund that they would try that way. As long as the bank doesn’t reject it it should come as a direct deposit. If it rejects it than they will cut you a check.
@Andrea if it is not showing on your transcripts yet it might be that the injured spouse dept has not gotten to your return yet, or because you are weekly they have started processing it but it missed the cutoff for getting updated in their system. Weeklies only update once a week on the transcript website. My transcripts updated on Friday to showing 971 underneath the 898 for non-IRS debt. It says 971 Injured spouse claim received 2/9/2015, which is the date they received it in the mail. So, they had it for a week before it showed on their website. If you are starting to see codes it does mean you are processing, so it should update by next week to at least showing your injured spouse claim form was received. -
My brother filed injured spouse and is waiting for his return so I have been looking up info for him as this is his first time. I have never had to file it so I had to do a lot of research. I am seeing that they only put a code that it has been received if you sent it in after you filed. My brother filed with his return so it does not show. He has not called the IRS because he is expecting to wait 11 weeks as he has been told but now I am seeing that it is going much faster. My neighbor just got her refund this past week and she filed just a few weeks before. She got direct deposit and filed the form with her efile as well. I have been seeing people get DDDs as soon as 3 weeks after they show transcripts.
I hope you all get it sooner rather than later, I myself am in 570 hell even though I did not file IS. I just got froze because I am lucky. :)~
-
Tonya
@Jinxed Did you file your form 8379 with your tax return. I’m just asking, after all this is my first time and I am just finding out info by researching it and calling irs injured spouse department. Maybe everything’s different when you file with your return. In my case the company who placed the offset already has my money there is just a hold on it to see if I filed an injured spouse form. This is probably why I will get a paper check not sure….
-
Tonya
@R4ce I hope the rep that talked to you is right…I really don’t want to have to wait another 3 weeks after I am approved to get a paper check…Fingers crossed….Good luck
-
Andrea
So even though I efiled the form with my regular tax info, it will take longer for the IS form to even show up as received? I file it on 2/9 but I do not see it anywhere on my transcript…is this normal?
-
Anonymous
@Andrea when you log in to your transcripts it will say 971 and injured spouse claim received. It says the date they received it. I think you need 846 for refund issued.
@r4ce @Tonya @jinxd I spoke to irs rep on Thursday to see if they received my form as it was before it was showing on my transcripts. The rep I spoke to said if you elected to dd that they would send it that way. He stated sometimes the bank will reject it as it will come only in injured spouse name. As long as your name is on act it shouldn’t bounce back. If it does you will get paper check. -
jinxd
@Tonya and R4ce, I hope the info about the paper check is incorrect also, past years that I’ve filed IS my refund was always DD’d so hopefully they haven’t changed that.
Where are you seeing IS form info in your transcripts? I was told the IS form doesn’t show and my past transcripts would lead me to believe I was given accurate info. None of them reflect the IS form being filed, just the usual transaction codes (570, only one year with a 971) and then more codes after my 846’s that show how much was paid out to non-tax debts.

Well, today I called the IRS and actually asked for the injured spouse department and was transferred there. I couldn’t believe it.. I did find out some info, but I didn’t really like it. The rep told me that she was one of the reps that actually worked on the injured spouse forms. She told me that the injured spouse refunds were always issued through a paper check and that it could take 3 weeks to be issued after your refund is approved. I also found out that the regular reps couldn’t really tell you if your case is being worked on or not.{Even though I was told by one that they saw mine and it was processing. :( }She was a very friendly and seemed to be a trustworthy rep and she told me that they can only see when your case is complete. She wasn’t trying to push me off the phone and took lots of time explaining things to me, so I do believe her…She even looked over my form and told me that I would be receiving the full refund amount once it was processed….Good luck everyone…

Andrea
This is my first time filing Injured Spouse. Where on my transcripts would it show if the IRS has received my IS form and what codes should I be looking for? I e-filed on Feb. 9 and submitted IS form with initial forms. Any help/advice would be FABULOUS :)

Hey guys. I filed around 1.29 or so this year. Injured spouse. Wmr never showed any bars just that dreaded further processing nonsense. My transcripts have been stuck on 570 code. Dated 2.23.15. I was worried and hopeless. I wasn’t looking for a large refund and didn’t have any healthcare issue so I wasn’t sure what it was. Today I got a 846 refund issue code o. My transcripts. So maybe that’ll make you guys still waiting feel better. I know the past few weeks that’s what I was hoping to see when I logged on. Hopefully, you get your money as soon as possible! Good luck!

@Kelly… I don’t have any experience with filing injured spouse since this is my first year filing it. I also did not know about the offset until after I e-filed on Jan.28th. I sent the injured spouse form in as soon as I found out. I checked my transcript every week and then last week on Saturday morning it updated to code 971 injured spouse form received on Feb. 2nd. I was glad that I now knew that they had at least received it. I called the number below and had a live person in less than 20 minutes…
Speak to a HUMAN! (M-F, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. local) (800) 829-0582 ext. 652
They seemed very knowledgeable and told me that they had indeed received my form on Feb. 2nd and had started processing it on Feb. 10th.. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you and me…I don’t know what the as of date means, but mine says March 2nd…..I’m really new at this but just wanted you to know what I know. Your transcript should list when they receive your injured spouse form….I would try to call the above number and just ask them…Good luck…. -

We e-filed this year and did not file injured spouse form with it. We decided to take our chances that the offset would not happen this year as we did not receive any letter forewarning us. To our disappointment there was an offset and they are going to attempt to take the entire refund. We live in Texas which is a community property state, I did earn income as well as my spouse and most of the tax credits are mine, child care, education credit, etc. I have now filed the form by mail (tracked it and know that it arrived last Friday). I have looked at the transcript and compared it to last years and I do not see a real difference. I am unable to get through to IRS as the call volume is too high. How do I know that they at least have the form in their system? Also, how is the fact that they are processing the form reflected on the transcript, if at all, is their a code that I should be looking for? Any help is appreciated. As someone already mentioned I would hate to wait the 8 weeks only to find out that they “lost”my form.

I have not received any codes and I can see my tax transcript that coincides with the return I filed. This is my second year filing the IS form. I am trying to contact IRS but I keep getting the automation and can’t seem to get to a live person. If anyone has an alternate number please let me know. Thanks and good luck to all.

I am in the same 505 cycle with some of you…. and my 570 code is dated 2/23 as well…. i efiled my IS with my taxes this year…. from what i see we are the early filers and so when they do start working them we should be the among the first sent out….. HOPEFULLY!!! fingers crossed for all of us!!

Just an FYI for any new to filing this way. I honestly see no pattern paper/electronic with/without the form. this is out 3rd year filing IS and first filing electronically BUT, even filing paper laat year it took right at 6 weeks for us to receive our refund. We requested direct deposit and that’s how we got it, so a paper return does not automatically mean a paper check. Income was split with me making about 29k and hubby working part time (we have quads so no way can we afford after school/sick care) making 7K. Its his debt, I claimed most of the allocations on my side and we got all of the refund. Hoping and praying for the same this year as we are planning to use it to pay off old debt and finally buy a house.

@Deveney… Our cycle code would have meant a DDD for yesterday if we weren’t frozen. The 2/23 date is our 21 day mark, from the date our returns were accepted.
I really have no clue what to expect at this point. I’ve filed IS twice before, the first time it took months, the second time it was less than 10 days before I had my refund. The agent I spoke to seemed just as confused as I am, he said it should be showing a 571 code as soon as IS was processed and approved or it should be tagged for further review with an additional 570 and it’s not. He couldn’t give me any idea about a time frame other than saying it could be up to 11 weeks but he did encourage me to start making noise after the 21 day mark if I still haven’t received anything.
-
Deveney
@Jinxd I’m in the same cycle code with a 570 date of 2-23 on my transcripts. I just wanted to ask you if you think they will wait until 2-23 to update? I’m confused over your statement of a refund “Someday” Do you have a gut feeling of when you might receive a refund?
-
Jinxd
E-filed with IS through Tax Act on 1/28, accepted within minutes but have a received date of 2/2. Transcripts became available 2/6 with the expected 570 code, cycle 20150505 and date 2/23.
WMR has stayed at one bar, the normal one liner (processing, blah, blah, 21 days) and shows full refund amount. I got concerned after realizing that my IS form doesn’t show on my transcripts and called yesterday… Talked to a very nice gentleman who informed me that it won’t (and then I did what I should have done to begin with and checked my transcripts from the last time I filled IS, it doesn’t show on those either). He said it has already been processed, it’s my husbands debt but I’m the only one with income from last year so it was pushed through and my account is not currently showing an offset so the entire amount should be coming back to me. Someday.
My refund is still on hold and will not be released yet despite my return and the IS being cleared =(
I’m not flagged for review, no calculation errors or other offsets, etc. Apparently they’re just holding on to it because they can. He was very apologetic but not any help after that point. I’m impatient and irritated as hell, especially knowing it’s all done and ready to go but probably won’t be released for at least another month for no reason at all. -

So I filed on 1/29 electronically with my IS form and checked my transcript today and have a cycle of 20150505 with 2/23/2015 and an amount next to it….is this my refund date and amount? The total is less than the original refund amount which is to be expected this is my first time filing IS. So I am wondering if anyone has seen this before.
-
Does anyone know if they usually start processing the IS return upon receiving? They received mine a week ago and have not started processing it. I talked to an IRS person on the phone that told me my form was received. That is how I know that much, but by looking at my transcripts they do not appear to be processing yet. If they were processing my Injured Spouse, it would appear on the transcript I assume?
-
The IRS received my mailed IS form on 2/2/2015. But have not even begun to process it, WTF? When they are taking your money, they seem to be able to process crap pretty damn fast.

Update: eFiled w IS on 1/29, checked my transcript this morning, rec’d my 570 code with a date of 2/23. At least things are progressing….
Now…. to wait…. -

@Ant , Last year was my 1st year filing IS, and I’m not exactly sure my first experience was typical, not that I had a lot of issues, but there was a gov’t shutdown which put everything in a crazy weird place. But to answer your question, I got a paper check last year.

Hey everyone. I’m back again this year. Last year I was in the batch that got held up. I filed 1/30 got them back 4/12. This year I filed on 1/29. Waiting game begins…

Filed my IS for the 3rd year. I e-filed this year right along with my return. I expect to get everything back as i’m a SAHM and my husband was the only one with an income. Accepted on 1/27 still shows processing but I can access my transcripts.
Will update later. Here’s hoping it will be fast this year.

First year I had to file an iS form. Really needed that money asap… now from what I’m reading it will be many long weeks of waiting and hoping I get some of my refund back… so the question I have that searches don’t seem to answer… once processed and approved, do they send the money the way I first chose, which was direct deposit or will I be watching for a paper check in that little white box outside by the road that never has anything in it but flyers and junk?

Ok injured spouse question.. Doing my brothers taxes- he owes back support but now has full custody of his child, he is married and she has a child also (not together). When filling out the injured spouse form for her, can she use both children as exemptions and claim the child credit for both? Or is she only allowed to claim her child as a. Exemption? Thank yiu

I am new to injured spouse. I knew it was going to happen at some point and this was the year. I just files today and it was approved. I efiled every thing. I made about 700 bucks, he made 29000 (estimate) we have two kids. We get eic and other credits. Idk how they figure out what to take and how much we get back. I guess I will see in 11 weeks. Good luck guys. Oh, they were my student loans.

E-filed IS with return on 1/29 got email that it was accepted on 1/29, Last year (which was my 1st year filing IS) I didn’t realize there was an offset until after I filed which prolonged it.
I’m hoping things will go smoother this year.
Truth be told, I would have NEVER made it though my first year of Injured Spouse WITHOUT the great people here on the Forum. My hat is off to every single one of you guys/gals
With no Gov’t Shutdown this year, and I’m no longer a deer in headlights when it comes to Injured Spouse. I’m hoping it will be less stressful this year. Thanks again to all you wonderful people!

@Keri
The past couple of years, we’ve gotten back ~2/3 of it, and our situation is the same.
I’m going to try and efile it all this year — but I’m still waiting on an issue with last year’s taxes to resolve before I can file.
@bltyler1
You’re going to have to mail it in, now. Expect ~11 weeks of delay.
-
Bltyler1
So I filed a joint return early via efile through Turbo Tax. This morning 1/28/15, “Where’s My Refund” shows my refund has been approved, but indicated there may be an offset. I called the offset number, and there’s an offset under my husbands SSN for back due child support, for the TOTAL amount of my refund. I am the only one who worked this year. How can I file the Injured Spouse form, since my refund has already been approved & shows will be sent on 1/30? I assume this means they are ready to send to the state on 1/30. Can I file the injured spouse claim via TurboTax even though I’ve already submitted my return?? The form also states that a copy of W2 & 1099 must be included with the form…does this mean I can only mail it in?
-
Deveney
I thought I would let my fine friends know I was at the Library today to get my Injured Spouse form & was told it would not be available until 1/29/2015. So I thought I would share.

I’m curious as to how everyone is doing it this year. E-filing both together? E-file then send in form, or e-file, wait for them to take it and then send in form
-
Keri
Ive read other places that if Im the one that made all the money, all the credits and refund goes to me considering I made all the money, and he made none. Not sure how true that is though. Looking foward to the full amount, which Im hoping I still get considering he made no money :/
-
Tom
@Keri
I’ve been in the same situation the past couple of years. Generally, your entire refund will initially be offset, then the injured spouse is processed, then they refund a part of it. Any straight income tax refund is yours, and a portion of any credits goes to you (EITC, Child Tax Credit). The other part of the credits goes towards the old loans.
Aaaand, on my end, still nothing from /last/ year’s taxes. Advocate didn’t return my call last week, so time for an angry call to her supervisor.
-
Keri
This will be my first year filing injured spouse and Im confused about it. My husband owes student loans(which they didnt contact us about… they were suppose to be refunded) and he is unemployed, so I make all the money last year.. How much will they still take out with him being unemployed?

Here’s hoping my 2nd year of filing Injured Spouse goes more smoothly….
