How does the offset line change? Back in Feb. mine listed the debt, then of course they offset it and I sent in the IS form as soon as I found out. I just called and it says there are no debts. What does it update to?

Thanks for responding! I wonder if the message is different in my case, where they already applied the $$ to the debt before my IS form was completed. Honestly though, it seems like there’s no rhyme or reason for anything this year! People suddenly getting checks in the mail after being told it would be 45+ more days, WMR never updating,…[Read more]

Anyone else file injured spouse AFTER finding out about an offset? Don’t have access to online transcripts, so I feel completely lost. Ordered them by mail & rcvd today. Filed/accepted 2/18. They took most of the refund on 2/27, partial refund issued. IS form received 3/4. Refund applied to debt 3/11. Cycle 0505 Tax advocate said there was…[Read more]

    • Others have been saying the offset line message changes when it is due to return to you.
AS OF date I would assume is when they printed your transcript, so everything showing is as of that date.

    • Not sure on the message part. To be honest mine hasnt given any dates other than there was an offset for such and such amount applied to such and such a date…Well all of a sudden it is saying there is no offset or debts found.
I knew there would be an offset because of last year, but I sent the form in by snail mail the day after I Efiled my…[Read more]

Question: Our federal refund was offset for my student loans. Since my husband had 100% of the income last yr, we filed IS AFTER they took it. We mailed in the IS form, via certified mail. It was received by the IRS almost 2 weeks ago. What can I expect now? Am I waiting on a letter, or a WMR update? Can a tax advocate speed up the process?…[Read more]

    • Just called tax advocate, they can help you if you have an eviction notice, foreclosure, shut off notice, or repossession notice. Took almost three weeks for them to update they had received and assigned my IS notice. Watch transcripts or call to figure out when that is

I keep trying to make a post but my comment keeps getting moderated, saying it includes an “inappropriate word”. 😒

Also been stuck on stage 1 since the 22nd. Most of our federal was offset for a student loan, so we’re going through the “injured spouse” process to get that back, so wouldn’t surprise me to see something happen to state too.

I too was excited to see DDD 2/27, but for the first time ever, TAX TOPIC 203. Called and found out nothing for my husband, but it’s for my student loans from 2009. Student loans that were FORGIVIN because I never received the $$! Before the semester started, I was put in the hospital for pregnancy complications.. Fast forward to 2019, this is…[Read more]

Also, we have SECU and it seems like nothing ever goes through early. Payroll, bank transfers, federal refunds all have posted on the exact date, about 2:30 am the day of. If you call cust. service and get a nice rep, they’ll actually tell you if there’s anything pending.

FINALLY have movement today to “Stage 1”. Actually says, “Your return is in Stage 1. Your tax return is currently being processed. It may take up to 15 days for your return to move to the next stage of processing.”.

We usually don’t finish up until at least our anniversary, which is March 21st. We know NC is taking…[Read more]

It’s sad and comical at the same time that this thread gets ZERO attention until late Feb. – early March. North Carolinian’s already know it’s gonna be a while before there is any resemblance of movement.

With that being said, I hope everyone has a super SMOOTH tax season!
