That FB group is terribly hateful about sharing their info outside of their group.. But if you search “Injured Spouse Tax Filer Group”, it’s the one w/ 5,778 members. Yes, everyone was highly skeptical of this person & was immediately asked to post a SS of their transcript, which they did. I don’t think they had EITC or ACTC as I don’t remember…[Read more]

Same, “We have received your return and it is being processed” after having the PATH message last week.
Also, eric529 did you see the IS filer in the other FB group that got an 846 for 2/20?! Lots of 570’s & 971’s!! I think our good mojo & optimism is doing good so far! 😁🤞

I’m very happy to see all the normies getting their 846’s and I expect to see even more over the next week. While most of us won’t see that for a while, at least we are seeing progress overall. I think we won’t see any movement in this group until the week of the 24th, or the first week of March. Has anyone had any luck getting theirs processed…[Read more]

I used a tax advocate 2 years in a row related to ID theft but that was before I started filing injured spouse. I don’t know if they helped me at all because both years I didn’t get my refund until April!

Last year I filed IS my mail after filing online.. Ours was 971-03/05/19. It just means they have received your IS form.. which is good.. They say to expect 8 wks processing time, but I’ve seen it take less and I’ve seen it take longer. Best of luck!

Trying to stay positive.. I remember this time last year & so many people having the random hold codes, all the letters going out, a lot of chaos & anxiety but I haven’t seen that yet this year. Of course we’re still a little early, but at least PATH’s lifting in just a couple days. The few ppl I know personally who file IS say they generally…[Read more]

State taxes & federal taxes have nothing to do with each other, so your processing time isn’t impacted by the lack of a state return.

We’re told to expect 11 weeks if you filed electronically with your federal return. Last year, those estimates seemed to be spot on, BUT the IRS faced a lot of issues last year too. Hopefully they have corrected those issues & can be more efficient this yr. I have seen people get their return in as little as 6 weeks w/ IS. So far, I’ve heard…[Read more]

Thought I would come back and add my own info.. Hopefully one day all of this volunteered data will actually be useful and we can identify trends. Until then…
    Filed: 1/24
    Accepted: 1/27
As of today 2/11 I’m getting the PATH Act message, TT152 & no amount. Haven’t tried to gain access to my transcripts, bc my acct numbers never match theirs,…[Read more]

If you’ve been waiting months without any answers: especially if you’ve been made to feel that the long wait is somehow your fault, go read my *mega long* suggestion on the main forum!

    • Noob question, how do I get there…
I would love as many answers a possible…Called to get a TA yesterday…

    • Mike L I was just informed by the injured spouse Advocate that when you get assigned an Advocate, it suspends the issuance of your refund and can take an additional 4 to 6 weeks. I call 1-800-829-0582 ex652 ask for injured spouse Department and I called 1-877-777-4778 Advocate Hotline to cancel the assigned Advocate. This way the injured spouse…[Read more]

    • That’s the thing, they wont even update my transcript….and they told me not to call again or it would restart the 30 referral….The woman wasn’t very pleasant for sure.

Do you have access to online transcripts? Did they explain why you need to send in a new form? I’ve seen too many people given incorrect information this year to take a seasonal employee at face value 😕

  • Terri posted a new activity comment 8 months, 3 weeks ago

Have you updated to the last 290 code yet?

  • Terri posted a new activity comment 8 months, 3 weeks ago

It doesn’t necessarily **have** to be released by then, but it usually does. They want to issue a refund before that date, so they don’t have to reassess your taxes. When did you update? Do you know? I bet you’ll update to the magical 846 this week!

My IS was rcvd 3/4, after the offset occurred. Case closed 5/5 or 5/6. On 5/17 I finally updated to an 846-5/24. Hopefully this means you both update this week!!! 🤞

  • Terri posted a new activity comment 8 months, 4 weeks ago

Did it show IS on your transcript before?

  • Terri posted a new activity comment 8 months, 4 weeks ago

If you filed IS after, then it does take 3-4 weeks before you actually receive your check. It only takes 1-2 weeks to update to an 846-date though. You could update tonight, but the system will be down for maintenance for a few days so you’ll just have to call Tuesday.

I thought about that. Our return is usually larger than the debt, so I may just file the IS form after. That way we get a little in March & the rest May/June-ish. But, my husband literally just started a new position today and his pay is much, much more so our refund is likely to be much lower. 🤔

  • Terri posted a new activity comment 9 months ago

It could have just been updating. Have you tried again?

  • Terri posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 9 months ago

So what’s the final verdict on when to file IS? Does it appear to be quicker/easier to file your return WITH the IS form? Or better to file return electronically and mail the IS form the same day? Opinions on what you’ll do next year (in a few months 😒🤦‍♀️😂)?

    • I might file single then file amended return with is form

    • Last year I filed electronically and it took so much less time than this year, when I filed my IS separately, so I was thinking I’m never doing that again, but I’ve seen so many people who filed IS electronically a month before I did my taxes and are still waiting. I think this is just a crap year

Mine updated to this the week before I got my refund date. My IS was also received 3/4. I bet you’ll both update this Friday for a refund date of next Friday! 🤞
