@WillBeas, I don’t see why either, but apparently they decided they are not going to update any wmr info with DDDs for path ACT people until after the 15th. It’s on wmr and it was part of the main path act message, unfortunately.

Give him a break @Ellie, its his first yr and then to have this mess on his hands. Fooling with someones money can make or break a business, big league!! Haha..

He just wants a understanding im assuming so he can explain it better to clients. I personally would be calling the IRS if I was a preparer.

LOL. Am I the only one who thought it was funny that a tax preparer was coming here to ask what to do?

I now have visions of ER doctors furiously googling symptoms 😊

It’s good to laugh in this frustrating tax season!

                Hi @Carrie101

Does WMR update overnight tonight?? I dont see why the IRS can’t provide DDD before the 15th. Its not like they are releasing before the 15th.

Here’s what I can tell you, I did my friend’s parent’s taxes on the 25th, they have no EIC not ACTC and their return was accepted immediately Nd they got an approved and ddd of 2/15 on Friday 2/10.

@Thomas Tafel, that sounds very frustrating. I think you might want to call on behalf of your clients. Hopefully you will receive some viable information to stave off the village with their pitchforks and flaming torches. ::smiles and elbows your ribs::: Ya gotta laugh sometimes.

Here is a link that may be helpful (albeit from 2015):

While the first part of the article does not apply to you, there is some useful info in here that may help, especially the sections entitled “Don’t count on talking to a person” and “Use the Practitioner Hotline”.

Please keep me posted. I’m thinking good thoughts for you and your clients.

You’re Welcome @Carrie101 I always give credit when due. I’ve been absorbing info for 3yrs now on IGMR and there is only a small number that is reliable.

@WillBeas Yeah, I just caught that. Should have double checked before I reposted. Sorry about that.

However, the IRS has made it clear, they are really giving those with deductions the once over. On the IRS website, there is an article dated 2/10/17 about falsely padded deductions.

                                https://www.irs.gov/uac/newsroom/irs-annual-dirty-dozen-list-of-tax-scams-to-avoid-includes-falsely-padding-deductions

That doesn’t mean everyone with deductions is padding them, but it does mean they are definitely scrutinizing those returns.

I thought I posted the link everywhere she placed it so folks can see its from 2011…guess I missed a few threads because she is spreading it everywhere

That letter that everyone keeps posting is from 2011. It says, as posted below “Beginning Feb. 14, the IRS will start processing both paper and e-filed returns claiming itemized deductions on Schedule A, the higher education tuition and fees deduction on Form 8917 and the educator expenses deduction.”

If you recall, these were delayed in 2011. This is not for this year.

@Cass, you’re welcome. That sucks you couldn’t get someone to look into it. From the looks of it, you are not alone with the phenomenon. It might be that they are having a human lay eyes on the 1099. That shouldn’t take too long, as long as nothing is amiss. There’s a chance it could just be a glitch that occurs for some people as a part of the processing phase. Maybe it means there is some positive progress being made with your refund. Let’s hope for the best.

Thank you! It’s so strange I called this week and they can’t look me up until the 20th. Maybe it’ll post Monday! Fingers crossed! Nothing out of the norm for us had a 1099 misc that was new but that’s it. Hoping it changes soon! I thought finally getting transcripts might be a positive thing. :-/

@Cass, another weird situation. It could be a fluke but in my mind, it’s a good reason to call the IRS on Monday. You may have to go through a few IRS agents before you get a plausible response but it may be worth the time, if only to ease your mind. Sorry you are dealing with this.

Today my TT152 is gone, it still says processing and now shows the refund amount again but nothing further.

                                                @carrie101

@Thomas Tafel, to clarify, none of them got any type of update on WMR this morning? Were any of them able to order both account and return transcripts as of yesterday?

I have heard some speculation on this site that if you happened to file close to the day that the weeklies are processed, it can put you on a weekly status. With that said, there should have been some kind of update for at least some of your 1/26 clients Friday into Saturday.

One issue to consider is that the IRS is really cracking down on those filing any type of deductions. If none of your clients were determined to be affected by PATH Act in the automated IRS system, and they truly have no updates whatsoever, my thought is that the IRS is going over those deductions with a fine tooth comb, which could be the cause of this delay.

In this case, I really think they should call the IRS, just in case. Most likely they will get the run-around about it not being 21 days. Some people were told that the IRS plans to take full advantage of the 21 days in more cases than just the PATH Act, and it appears they were not joking around.

Why it would just be the 1/26 clients, I cannot say. That is just too weird.
