I mailed my injured spouse form on 2/19/19 after filing electronically the week before. I sent in the forms for 2018 and 2017 in separate envelopes. I just got off the phone with the irs and they said they showed no record. What! In addition I sen in one for 2016 a month ago after reading they could be submitted up to 3 years later. No record of that either! We agreed t hat they should be sent to the Austin address based on where I live in Texas. Is this possible they could loose 3 pieces of mail? Nothing shows up online in the transcript which is why I called, Please help! Anyone with a similar experience, Is it possible after 8 weeks they have no record of it?

Hello. I submitted my Injured spouse form by mail and it was received 4/20. My 8 weeks was up so called irs two days go. Got to a live person and they told me they would get me a tax payer advocate. Even though I’m qualified she then got me to the injured spouse line. He literally did my form while I was on the phone and got the refund put through manually for a return to be sent 7 to 10 days. Call the IRS and go through these prompts.
Ask for an injured spouse line

          1. Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM – 7 PM local time Monday-Friday. When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: “Refund”, or it will send you to an automated phone line.

          2. So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).

          3. Choose option 2 for “personal income tax” instead.

          4. Then press 1 for “form, tax history, or payment”.

          5. Then press 3 “for all other questions.

          6. “Then press 2 “for all other questions.”

          7. When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything. – After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

          8. Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.

          9. It should then transfer you to an agent. Or you can contact your local IRS office

This has been hell for a lot of people and trust me, this is my second year of going through it. First I had issues with proving I’m the father of my own kids, then my refund was taken due to my wife’s student loan debt obligation. Good luck everyone

I also filed a injured spouse form by mail on 2/24/2019 after filing electronically on 2/14/2019. I haven’t heard anything at all and after reading your post now I’m concerned!! But I cannot ever get a live agent on the phone to find out anything. Did you call a different number other than the 1040 number?

Mine was e filed and instead of them separating the income they coded it wrong but the received it just didn’t work it as IS (Injured Spouse)just normal return my deposit date was yesterday and the entire balance went to an offset now I’m told to wait until next Friday to call in because that’s when it’ll show the offset and they can rework it as IS but it’ll take up to 6 more weeks ( I’ve been waiting since 1-23-19) and they’ll have to mail my refund 🤦🏾‍♀️
