Hello everyone so hopefully I can help someone who has the IRS code 9001. I talked with a nice lady on yesterday and she said that 9001 can be because of ID verify, review, or a system glitch. Mine was ID verify so she asked me a lot of questions and then after she did, she gave me a number to call and be verified. After I called the verification number, I was verified again, I was told that I would have to wait 9 additional weeks before I could receive my return. I don’t know why this is. Today, I called and spoke with the taxpayer advocate service and qualified for a hardship, but as I get updates, I will try to update the people with IRS code 9001

@Mr.x I was told 9 weeks after I was verified but I honestly think that they are just supposed to tell us that. When I talked to the advocate on Friday she said that my taxes were still in another department and hadn’t been put back into processing yet, but hopefully she said by next Friday she and I are hoping for movement and a REFUND date!!! I am so broke right now that I can’t see straight. LOL… Thanks for your encouraging words as well friend…

9 weeks? Were they unable to verify your ID over the phone, so will be mailing you a letter?

My Daughter got the Code 9001 last year for the same reason and verified with IRS over the phone, tax refund wasn’t more than 2 weeks late. In fact I think it was about a week late if I remember correctly.

Glad to hear you got the Hardship deal!
I been home with a broken foot for two months waiting for L&I to ok an MRI so I can get surgery and get back to work!
Wishing I had lied and told them it happened at home so my insurance would have taken care of it! Aint easy, stay strong friend!

I have been off of work sick for 2 months and I just had to borrow money to pay my rent for this month because I thought my taxes would be coming sooner than what the IRS said. I had already borrowed the money before I found out I was ID verify and it would take up to 9 weeks to get my refund.
