I received a letter in the mail on Feb 22. Stated that my form 8962 was missing from my return. So I faxed everything back to them 2/24. Has anyone else received this letter about healthcare. And has anyone received their refund yet. I’m beginning to think that when the system crashed that they lost any and all returns they may have been working on at that time. Also stated that I had to send 2nd page of form 1040 to them as well.

I’m seeing a lot of people that have been “selected”. I almost want to call BS. I know the IRS is under staffed and they’ve had their share of problems this year.

As previously posted, I was flagged for having 3 W2’s. Even though the guy I was talking to was nice to talk to, I’m wondering if we’re getting excuses while they play catch-up… It doesn’t make sense that he would have mentioned a program to help if not getting my refund when expected is available for financial hardship…

I would much rather hear that they fell behind than I’m being reviewed for keeping a job (2 of the W2’s were for the same job, the original employer got bought out in February and began bombing in July and I got out in November).

I guess getting pissed won’t help matters, so I’ll wait as I’m not completely broke.

Filed and accepted jan. 25th. Lost bar’s last Friday but I still have the topic 152. Today is the 21st say. So I called and asked if I needed to do an id verification and I did. I did my verification online due to it being a holiday. She told me it can take up to 6weeks. Yet other people have been getting them within 2 weeks. Hoping for the best. Did anyone else do a online id verification?

Here it is, day 21. According to the IRS website, they’ll be open from 7-7 today. I’ll definitely be calling to see what’s up. My bars are still missing but I do still have the tax topic 152 and I was able to order transcripts.

Here we go I filed 1/24 around 9am via tax preparer. I was officially accepted 1/25. I have been stuck on 1 bar ever since. I contacted irs and the tax advocate last week. Each person gave the a new meaning to stone wall. This may be someone else problem this is why I’m sharing. I somehow over the past couple years ended up with identity theft on my account. Basically anytime I need transcripts I have to go into the irs to get them. Mind you I have a daughter in college who needs them. I always have to take the day off to get transcripts. Today I have been reading about the id verify and the light bulb lit up. I moved last year so there is no way I would have received a letter. I never had to verify before. My 21 days will be up Monday so I said what heck lets call in and see if I need to. Low and behold I verified my identity today. The lady was nice, she verified my identity and then said she release my refund. The next statement was I will recieve either the refund or a letter within 9 weeks. I said letter, what kind of letter???? She then stated don’t worry about the letter you will get your money in 1 to 2 weeks. Will keep you posted hope this may help someone in a similar boat.

I feel that they’re quick to take money out of each paycheck, they should make our refunds just as slick as well.

because of the extra security steps taken this year…you would imagine that someone who has been use to just pressing buttons to get a return process and have a hard time this year getting it through the system…old habit can be hard to break…i thing what we are seeing to how its suppose to be….you can ready a few article online saying how the days of fast returns are going due to the tax fraud and identity theft that has been happening…the longer wait is protecting us…good thing IRS is sticking by their 21 day rule….I think we have just been spoiled over the last few years….I ordered account transcripts after I filed and receved it in the mail yesterday… if there was a problem you would know it…..you’ll be hearing something soon if you haven’t yet

The IRS announced it resumed processing individual and business tax returns at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday following resolution of its system outage. Many of the tools and applications came up earlier on Thursday morning, including “Where’s My Refund” on IRS.gov.
“IRS teams worked throughout the night and around the clock on this system outage,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said. “Our processing systems are back in business. Taxpayers should see little, if any, impact on their tax returns or refunds. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused, and we appreciate the support and patience from taxpayers as well as our partners in the tax community and state revenue departments.”
The IRS emphasized that taxpayers do not need to take any additional steps or action due to the outage, including people who filed just before or during the outage. Throughout this period, taxpayers were able to continue to send their tax returns to their e-file provider; these companies have already started sending these tax returns into the IRS.
Taxpayers who have received a specific refund date from the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov should not be affected by the outage. The IRS reminds taxpayers that many variables factor into processing of tax refunds, including fraud prevention efforts, but we continue to anticipate that nine out of 10 taxpayers will receive their refunds within 21 days after being accepted by the IRS. In addition, the IRS reminds taxpayers that IRS.gov remains the best place to check for information on refunds. The IRS experienced a hardware failure this afternoon affecting a number of tax processing systems, which are currently unavailable. Several of our systems are not currently operating, including our modernized e-file system and a number of other related systems. The IRS is currently in the process of making repairs and working to restore normal operations as soon as possible. We anticipate some of the systems will remain unavailable until tomorrow.

The IRS remains in close contact with e-file software transmitters and the tax community during this period.
A number of taxpayer and tax practitioner tools are unavailable. IRS.gov remains available, although a number of the services on the site are not, including Where’s My Refund.

Taxpayers can continue to prepare and file their tax returns as they normally would. Taxpayers can continue to send their tax returns to their e-file provider; these companies will hold the tax returns until the IRS resumes accepting electronic tax returns. Taxpayers who have already filed their tax returns do not need to take any additional action.

The IRS is still assessing the scope of the outage. At this time, the IRS does not anticipate major refund disruptions; we continue to expect that 9 out of 10 taxpayers will receive their refunds within 21 days.

A “hardware failure” forced the shutdown of several tax processing systems, including the e-file system, the IRS said in a statement. The IRS.gov website remains available, but “where’s my refund” and other services are not working.

Some systems will be out of service at least until Thursday, the agency said. “The IRS is currently in the process of making repairs and working to restore normal operations as soon as possible,” the IRS said.

Taxpayers can continue to send electronic returns to companies that serve as middlemen between taxpayers and the IRS. But those companies have to hold on to the tax returns until the IRS systems are up and running again, the IRS said.

While the IRS said it is still assessing the scope of the outage, it expects 90% of taxpayers will receive refunds within three weeks.

People who have already filed returns don’t need to do anything more, the IRS said.

I filed on the 25th, and from reading on here heard some grumblings about re-sequencing and the American Opportunity Credit causing delays, I called yesterday and was told I was re-cycled. I didn’t get any extra information from that agent and just left the conversation knowing j was going to be delayed. Decided to call this morning and find out more information. I first asked her when I was accepted and if that was the same day as them receiving it and she said yes it is. I asked about the AOC and she did say that some people who filed the credit were being reviewed since people would claim the credit and not have the 1098T. Then I asked how long does that usually delay the process and she said for me it would only be another week, as long as nothing else popped up. At the end of the conversation after I mentioned the delay of a week again she said “so from the 27th, is that the day you filed?” And I said no I filed on the 25th, which confirmed the 24-48 delay in accept and receiving that I asked her about earlier.

TL;DR: Even though we filed on 1/25, they probably didn’t actual accept it until the 27th. If you filed the American Oppprtunith Credit, you may be being reviewed.

Now it is not accepting either address so I cannot check for return tranny. Wondering if that’s a good sign or no, since they could be updating address information possibly. Checked for things under my ssn but ofcourse he is primary so I have to use his. Starting to get frustrated. Was hoping for a DDD of 2/5 but who knows now.

I filed the the 25th everything was accepted the 26th I only have one bar online. I tried to get my transcripts and it wasn’t available so I called and they had to update my address but said they should be available to everyone by the 9th of February because they didn’t start processing til the 19th. I asked if anything else was wrong he said no I just got off the phone at 730 est 2/1/16

Alright, so I called the IRS today because I received a letter from Indiana DOR to verify my identity further. I completed the quiz and now it seems my state is actually doing something. Last year o hadnto do the same thing but I already had my federal refund before I got the letter from Indiana. So I decided this year to call because I have not received any updates. Unable to order transcripts with new address , still have 1 bar and same tax topic as always. So long story short I called the IRS, the nice guy I talked to said that I had been resequenced by a week. He said it could be sooner but the resequence could be because of my refund over 5k or change of address etc, so maybe next week I will see some movement.

Seem like if you filed early they are not approving and getting Dds only people who filed after 1-20-16… I filed on 1-14-2016 my 21 days are up. But still only one bar.

Yes @Tamika but from what I’ve been told you need to be able to order Return transcripts as well. Everyone is saying when you can order both you will receive a DD date the next day.

I’ve been checking wmr on and off every day and no updates still
no bars after having one for a day or say, the “your tax return is still being processed and a date will be given when available” message is still there.
no refund amount.

but it seems like every day it changes a couple times throughout the day the ability to order transcripts from prior years keeps coming and going.

haven’t been able to order anything using my current address, but every now and then when I check, I can use my previous address and get access to the transcripts menu, unable to order anything for this year.

Filed the 25th, and was accepted within 5 minutes, on both State and Federal. However the bar has not moved to give a date, and state is still in “processing” mode.
Turbrotax though states between Jan 26th and Feb 15th.

Last year I had received my federal really fast, on Feb 4th, can’t remember exactly my filing date, but it was on day 6 that I got it at 2 am. State did not come till March 11th.
I don’t mind the wait on state, but wish federal bar changed and gave a date lol.

NYS refund site says my refund is in the final stages of proccessing. Checked WMR and no update, although the past 2 years I have gotten my return in exactly 10 days.

in previous years we could read our transcripts online and get our ddd before wmr would update.

This year they only allow mailing of them. The theory behind it is, if you can get your account transcript that means they are actually in the process of processing them or have processed them so your info is available. If you can also get your return transcript it should mean your done processing and have been approved for a ddd. So long story short, if you can order both you should have a ddd at the next wmr update, if not you won’t. But the ability to order one lets you know stuff is moving :)

I filed with TurboTax on the 1/25 and was accepted both state and federal the same day. No changes yet. I cannot order a return transcript so I know it hasn’t been approved yet. Will update when I have an update.

As of this morning WMR is still at one bar. I truly believe they only update once a week (this could be inaccurate, just my opinion) but last year I got my refund and bars never updated. Mine always takes about 2-3 weeks, I’ve never got a super fast return, lol. Good luck all!

WMR hasn’t updated past the first bar for me ever until days after I had already received my refund. I also have always received my DD within 7 days of being accepted.

Spoke with an agent this morning. Hour and ten minutes on hold another half hour talking to the agent. I filed on the 25th “accepted” the same day. Bars disappeared and wmr says refund date will be provided when avail. Agent said I was chosen for an additional review and to give until March 1st. She said there are more identity issues being addressed than ever before. I asked if she sees anything I need to do and she said she cannot know that until March 1st. But I could see the refund anytime and keep checking daily. Anyone else have any luck today?

I hope this goes like last year. I filed on 1/26/2015 and had it in my bank on 2/3/2015 and that was after a 24 hour stay with the SBBT bc I had TurboTax deduct my tax fee from my refund.
