UPDATE: I called IRS today, talked to someone immediately and she informed me I have a DD for tomorrow and the amount. WMR hasn’t updated from still processing. I filed 1/25 accepted 1/26 with EIC and CTC. I did claim both children on my half but more than half of the refund went to the back child support debt.. which was mainly all of the refund…[Read more]

    • I *think* by taking claiming both children the other party ends up owing more as they don’t get the deductions.

    • We are having the same problem. He is the injured spouse spouse made all the income so he claimed both kids but I was told they are taking almost 3/4 of our return for my back devt. I’m hoping they’re giving me the wrong 846 code amount but not counting on more than the 1/4 of the return.

    • That’s bullcrap! I’m hoping for the full refund still lol.

@Kimberly I live in Oklahoma too. I filed IS and claimed both of our children, yet more than half our refund is being offset to my husbands back child support.. its bs. I dont see how that was even possible. Our whole refund amount was pretty much the EIC and CTC with like 400 from federal.

This is a different Brittany lol.

Filed 1/25 accepted 1/26. WMR updated yesterday, from take action to we have received your taxes and it is processing. I called top and it has updated with an offset amount and a pay date. The offset amount is more than half of our refund. I claimed both kids, one is.mine and my husbands and the other is mine. Im…[Read more]

Refund amount is 8001 and back support amount 8000. The amount they applied to offset is 4304. With EIC for 2 kids and ctc. I claimed both children on my half.

Filed taxes 1/25 accepted 1/26. My husband owes for back child support. Called top today and they updated with an offset amount and date which.is more than half of our original refund amount. I claimed both children on my portion so Im guessing they applied one of the 2 children to his half to satisfy the amount. Kinda pissed about it lol.

    What is sbtpg?

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 8 months, 4 weeks ago

@tiffg yes it was. He made more than me so that why I was a bit worried wondering how they were going to split it up.

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 8 months, 4 weeks ago

Also there aren’t any other codes that signify an offset on the transcript.

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 8 months, 4 weeks ago

@tiffg I claimed both credits on my half. There was no code 766 next to the EIC just code 768. So.. will it be split? Or going all to me?

  • Brittany posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 8 months, 4 weeks ago

Received my transcript today, no code 846 just a date of April 15. Is that when I should expect my refund? It shows code 766 which means credited offset amount next to the CTC, but instead of saying CTC it says “credit to your account”. And code 768 which just means EIC and the amount. Does this mean I’m only getting back my portion of the CTC and…[Read more]

    • No. All transcripts have April 15 on them, as that’s the last day to file. From the sounds of it, your transcripts just haven’t updated with any new information

    • That’s a great sign your basically done processing just waiting for 846 probably within the next two weeks you’ll have your money. Code 766 means your offset has been reversed and the money went back to the Bureau of Fiscal Services to issue you a refund.

    • Doesn’t matter if the children are one parent or the others. If they are filled on a married filing joint return the credit is split. But when filing out the is form it asks who would have gotten the credits if filing separately. That’s where you would have allocated the credits to yourself.

    • Also there aren’t any other codes that signify an offset on the transcript.

    • The credits will go to you but any portion of the refund that was neither of those credits will be split between the two of you. I’m guessing the majority of your refund was probably those credits like mine was.

    • @tiffg yes it was. He made more than me so that why I was a bit worried wondering how they were going to split it up.

@Alecia by full refund ,do you mean what you were supposed to get back originally you and your spouse or just your portion?

  • Brittany posted an update in the group Injured Spouse 9 months ago

Filed 1/25 accepted 1/26. Has been on “there is a delay in processing” for 2 weeks. Called when I first got the notice and they had said it was because I filed injured spouse and the EIC. She did say my IS form had not been scanned in, I call today because it has been over 21 days, and I was told it has been assigned to someone and will take 11…[Read more]

    • Brittany you would only get the ISPortion. If you are the injured spouse then you get your whole refund. Your husband if he’s the one with the debt his will will be taken.

It ask for credit card or mortgage account number to verify. It doesn’t charge, but I have neither. Lol. Wish it were that easy for me though!

Thanks Stacey, I’ll wait my 5-10 business days lol.

Which transcript do you order? Account or refund? I ordered refund and received it but it was pretty much just an overview of my refund. No codes or dates. So this time I ordered account. I have to mail it because I don’t have a credit card or anything of the sort.

    • Your account transcipts

    • Didnt know you needed a credit card to order it. I can view mine online whenever I want from the irs site.

They aren’t processing returns with EICs until after the 15th of this month, Due to the path law and that they are trying to cut down on fraudulent people claiming eic. So possibly 21 days after that?

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 9 months, 2 weeks ago

    Hopefully they paid you interest!

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 9 months, 2 weeks ago

I know :( I read somewhere that if it takes longer than 14 weeks they start paying interest. Some people were getting as much as 506$ in interest. It’s a bunch of bull.. it’s our money!!

  • Brittany posted a new activity comment 9 months, 2 weeks ago

Or longer! Lol. Like 6 months and the irs will pay you interest. Idk why it takes so dang long!! This is my first year as well. In your situation I believe you get all your portion from the income you made. I have found EITC calculators online and put in just my income to see what I would get back. I didn’t make nearly enough to get back as much…[Read more]
