This has not been and will not be published by the IRS.  The IRS now says most refunds will be issued within 21 days of your return being accepted.  This general estimate doesn’t satisfy everyone and now many independent sites try to estimate dates when refunds will be sent.  The IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2016 with Direct Deposit and Check dates are only estimates by various website owners.  It might give you a good idea, but never bank on it because many issues arise and delay tax refunds.

When will tax season open? Once we know the date tax season open, the estimated tax refund direct deposit dates will likely be updated.

As each year comes to a close and the next tax filing season approaches, early tax filers start to think and ask the big question.  When will I get my tax refund?  The estimated 2016 IRS Refund Cycle Chart can now be found at countless websites for the 2016 tax season.  Be cautious though, the charts you find are not “official” and the dates when you should expect to receive your refund will not all be the same.   Why? The official IRS Refund Cycle Chart published by the IRS is no more. Since they stopped publishing an official refund cycle chart, various independent versions are now created each year based on estimates and prior year trends.

There are slightly different versions of the tax refund schedules scattered across countless websites to help tax refund hunters track down that magic date.  These refund cycle charts will crop up more and more as the year comes to a close. Most are just guesstimates, some even educated guesses. Many times the refund charts you find are just duplicates of the prior year with slightly adjusted dates.

There are various tax situations for every taxpayer and this is why prediction as to when you will get your tax refund can be difficult; and, every year there will be glitches with one process or another at the IRS which could delay your refund.  Since an official IRS refund calendar is a thing of the past, when taxpayers can expect to receive their tax refund in 2016 remains a mystic idea. This is likely why the IRS now firmly sticks to a general statement to everyone that “your tax refund should arrive within 21 days”.

We stress to you that pre-spending those beloved refunds is playing with fire, wait for that direct deposit to hit in 2016! IGMR will post any estimated tax refund charts here that we find credible or to have plausible timeframes.

Here are some of estimated charts to help you gauge how the tax season might play out.

Happy Refunding!

2014 IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart

We have said goodbye to the former refund cycle chart in replacement of a standard “21 days” response from the IRS.

Remember this?  The IRS Refund Cycle Chart was eliminated in 2012 and replaced with an IRS Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community publication.  We likely will not see a 2014 IRS e-file refund cycle chart and be forced to depend upon the data that the Where’s My Refund (WMR) tool decides to spit out. There are several sites that seem to have generated their own refund cycle chart based on assumption of processing schedules; but as we have learned, it’s hard to predict. Below are links to some of those sites and their predictions.  Please remember, these are predictions and you should never rely upon such as definite availability of your tax refund. IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2014 with Direct Deposit and Check dates provided below are based on filing and transmitting as early as January 10, 2014 with some tax preparers, but with respect to IRS opening delay and it’s announcement here that it could begin ACCEPTING returns on January 28, 2014, but as late as February 4, 2014.

I filed on January 23rd, my return was accepted the same day, now 23 business days later, still no refund or update to my status. Cannot get a live person on the phone, so no chance for an explanation from the IRS. This is getting rediculous.

I’m completely screwed. I just got an call from Healthcare.gov telling me that the form the sent me hand and error and now I will have to wait till I receive in new on in march and then I will have to amend my tax return. This means I won’t be receiving my tax return tomorrow. This is devastating to me. It could be up to 6 more weeks after I amend my return that I could see my money. I hate obamacare. I should have just paid the penalty inside of signing up for it.

I’m so scared. I filed my returned on Feb 3rd it said I would be paid on feb 24th. WMR has always said that my refund has been accepted but stayed on accepted and never went to approved. I called the IRS on thursdays of last week and they told me there wasn’t any problem since my turned had already been accepted and that it I was on the honor and that I should get paid Wednesday or Thursday this week. I was really relieved. However when I logged into wheres my refund just now it has changed.

It now says “Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.”

I’m fear now that I will not be getting my refund this week. Has this happen to anyone else before and if so did you still get paid on the correct date?

Does the word accepted mean the day you went to the tax office and your claim was filled, or is this another date when the irs actually “accepts” your refund info?

@Happy: Must be nice! I filed my taxes on 2/6, was accepted on 2/7, and STILL nothing. I work for H & R Block, and I am so tired of getting calls about people not getting their refunds after just one week of waiting. It’s been over two weeks for me, and to top it all off, someone who filed one day after me got her taxes back five days later! For anyone who is blaming H & R Block, better put the blame on the IRS because the IRS is the one who controls who gets a refund and when.

What number do I call if it’s been over 21 days? I’ve tried the refund hotline and it’s all automated with no option to speak to someone. I tried the regular IRS hotline and none of the options lead me to a person.

    ACK!

The chart is wrong. I files with H&R block on 2/12/15, was able to order transcripts on 2/17/15, and this morning got a DDD for 2/23/15. According to chart above I would not get a DD until 2/28/15.

I submitted my return through TT on 1/30/2015. It was the end of the day, if I had known I’d have it done a week earlier I would have done it Thursday night and filed for a 2/6/15 schedule. long story short, I waited and waited saw the bar then it disappeared, no codes just sat in a turmoil since this sunday. on 2/15 I checked the irs2go app and it showed miraculously approved with a DDD date of 2/19. I also needed an IP Pin this year supplied by them. Thank goodness I saved it in a safe place, I’ve heard the nightmares. Anyway, I am yet to see the deposit sent yet, I’m assuming it will be at midnight tonight. I have B of A so we shall see. My return is very 5 figures so I hope it will not be too much that they revert to a check. fingers crossed.

@Tom2025: the 150 is the anount of federal invome tax you pay, which is nothing. The 766 is government (TAXPAYER) funded credit of $1000 you claimed. The 570 is a hold on the acct. They will occaisonally hold refunds made up of credits to make sure the person who filed the return is truly eligible and not making up their income. You would be amazed at the amount of phony BS returns that are sent in, not id theft, just people trying to get free money! The hold will usually expire within a couple days if IRS doesn’t want verification of income. This is reasonable as you are not paying any income tax and getting a taxpayer funded refund!@blanki06:

Ive been waiting a total of 27 days after they received, approved & send for them to tell me that i enetered the wrong bank info so they are gonna mail me a check on 2/23 and if i dnt receive it by 3/23 to call them STRAIGHT BULL. I personally feel that if their gonna mail checks worth thousands of dollars that they should FEDEX OR UPS our checks to use but thats just my opinion.

Took another 2 weeks for them to tell me that the bank sent them the money back to them
now my scheduled date for them to mail me a check is 2/23/15 and if i dnt recieve it by 3/23/15 to call them.

I am wondering if those of us with the same “issue” have any similar filing data. For me, I filed head of household with 2 dependents, both my children and one of them has a different last name than me. My return was “accepted” on Feb 2 and my status bar disappeared a couple days later and ever since it has said “still being processed”. I tried to order a “transcript” to view online because I had seen others mention this as a way to see the process but it denied me access and gave me an 800 number to call which is to the fraud unit. That has me freaked out. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that one of my kids has a different last name than I do? However, I can’t talk to anyone until it has been 21 days. Anyone else experiencing this situation or something similar?
