IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2018 with Direct Deposit dates

UPDATED AUGUST 2017:  IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2018 with Direct Deposit dates provided below are based on filing and transmitting as early as January 2, 2018. This has not been and will not be published by the IRS.  The IRS now says most refunds will be issued within 21 days of your return being accepted.  This general estimate doesn’t satisfy everyone and now many independent sites try to estimate dates when refunds will be sent.

The IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2018 with Direct Deposit and Check dates are only estimates by various website owners.  It might give you a good idea, but never bank on it because many issues arise and delay tax refunds. When will tax season open? Once we know the date tax season open, the estimated tax refund direct deposit dates will likely be updated.

Here are dates we expect to see tax refunds:

As each year comes to a close and the next tax filing season approaches, early tax filers start to think and ask the big question. When will I get my tax refund? The estimated 2018 IRS Refund Cycle Chart can now be found at countless websites for the 2018 tax season. Be cautious though, the charts you find are not “official” and the dates when you should expect to receive your refund will not all be the same. Why? The official IRS Refund Cycle Chart published by the IRS is no more. Since they stopped publishing an official refund cycle chart, various independent versions are now created each year based on estimates and prior year trends.

There are slightly different versions of the tax refund schedules scattered across countless websites to help tax refund hunters track down that magic date. These refund cycle charts will crop up more and more as the year comes to a close. Most are just guesstimates, some even educated guesses. Many times the refund charts you find are just duplicates of the prior year with slightly adjusted dates.

There are various tax situations for every taxpayer and this is why prediction as to when you will get your tax refund can be difficult; and, every year there will be glitches with one process or another at the IRS which could delay your refund. Since an official IRS refund calendar is a thing of the past, when taxpayers can expect to receive their tax refund in 2018 remains a mystic idea. This is likely why the IRS now firmly sticks to a general statement to everyone that “your tax refund should arrive within 21 days”.

We stress to you that pre-spending those beloved refunds is playing with fire, wait for that direct deposit to hit in 2018! IGMR will post any estimated tax refund charts here that we find credible or to have plausible timeframes.

2014 IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart

We have said goodbye to the former refund cycle chart in replacement of a standard “21 days” response from the IRS.

Remember this?  The IRS Refund Cycle Chart was eliminated in 2012 and replaced with an IRS Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community publication.  We likely will not see a 2014 IRS e-file refund cycle chart and be forced to depend upon the data that the Where’s My Refund (WMR) tool decides to spit out. There are several sites that seem to have generated their own refund cycle chart based on assumption of processing schedules; but as we have learned, it’s hard to predict. Below are links to some of those sites and their predictions.  Please remember, these are predictions and you should never rely upon such as definite availability of your tax refund. IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2014 with Direct Deposit and Check dates provided below are based on filing and transmitting as early as January 10, 2014 with some tax preparers, but with respect to IRS opening delay and it’s announcement here that it could begin ACCEPTING returns on January 28, 2014, but as late as February 4, 2014.

My tax refund shows that it has been transmitted to my bank on March 28, 2018. I checked my bank and the check was there yet. How long will it take for my direct deposit will reflect on my account?

Mine was accepted 2/11/18 went from processing to “still processing “ on 2/13/18 and no further update. I don’t even have a transcript available yet.😭 I read on another website that this message means a delay(maybe verify id, income or nothing at all)…so just waiting, not exactly sure when to actually call the irs for status or update

People who got a dd of the 22nd should see their deposit today, tomorrow, or the next day. But if you used H&R Block and took their fee out of your refund, the IRS will deposit the money into H&R Block’s bank account, not yours. Then H&R Block will take their fee out and then deposit into your account. So that will delay your refund by a couple of days too. Try to pay for your taxes yourself instead of having the tax company take it out of your refund. Remember that for next year. Because they are collecting interest on everyone’s refunds when the refund gets deposited to them instead of to you. Even if the tax company holds it for a couple of days, that is millions of dollars in interest when everyone’s refunds are added together and deposited into their bank.

@Nicole27: No, you don’t need to wait for the last bar. You already got a dd date, so you’re fine. The last bar just means they deposited it. But sometimes you see the money before you even see the last bar. That’s what happened to me last year.

According to the IRS, which I checked multiple times, it states on their website that all EIC (earned income credit) filers will not receive their refunds until after Feb. 27th regardless of when you filed and was accepted. I filled Feb. 11, and my bars have not progressed past the 1st stage.

@Tax Queen: I am hoping to be in the this Thursday/Friday batch, turbo tax said it would go in this morning but didn’t. I filed 1/25 but had issues with my AGI but I fixed it but did not get my return accepted by the IRS until 1/29. I guess since it didn’t show up today that it will be there tomorrow. I have the EIC and a Dependent, also small business as well but that’s never made it take that long. I want it before the first of March.
