UPDATED AUGUST 2017:  IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2018 with Direct Deposit dates provided below are based on filing and transmitting as early as January 2, 2018. This has not been and will not be published by the IRS.  The IRS now says most refunds will be issued within 21 days of your return being accepted.  This general estimate doesn’t satisfy everyone and now many independent sites try to estimate dates when refunds will be sent.

As each year comes to a close and the next tax filing season approaches, early tax filers start to think and ask the big question. When will I get my tax refund? The estimated 2018 IRS Refund Cycle Chart can now be found at countless websites for the 2018 tax season. Be cautious though, the charts you find are not “official” and the dates when you should expect to receive your refund will not all be the same. Why? The official IRS Refund Cycle Chart published by the IRS is no more. Since they stopped publishing an official refund cycle chart, various independent versions are now created each year based on estimates and prior year trends.

There are slightly different versions of the tax refund schedules scattered across countless websites to help tax refund hunters track down that magic date. These refund cycle charts will crop up more and more as the year comes to a close. Most are just guesstimates, some even educated guesses. Many times the refund charts you find are just duplicates of the prior year with slightly adjusted dates.

There are various tax situations for every taxpayer and this is why prediction as to when you will get your tax refund can be difficult; and, every year there will be glitches with one process or another at the IRS which could delay your refund. Since an official IRS refund calendar is a thing of the past, when taxpayers can expect to receive their tax refund in 2018 remains a mystic idea. This is likely why the IRS now firmly sticks to a general statement to everyone that “your tax refund should arrive within 21 days”.

We stress to you that pre-spending those beloved refunds is playing with fire, wait for that direct deposit to hit in 2018! IGMR will post any estimated tax refund charts here that we find credible or to have plausible timeframes.

2014 IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart

We have said goodbye to the former refund cycle chart in replacement of a standard “21 days” response from the IRS.

Remember this?  The IRS Refund Cycle Chart was eliminated in 2012 and replaced with an IRS Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community publication.  We likely will not see a 2014 IRS e-file refund cycle chart and be forced to depend upon the data that the Where’s My Refund (WMR) tool decides to spit out. There are several sites that seem to have generated their own refund cycle chart based on assumption of processing schedules; but as we have learned, it’s hard to predict. Below are links to some of those sites and their predictions.  Please remember, these are predictions and you should never rely upon such as definite availability of your tax refund. IRS e-file Refund Cycle Chart for 2014 with Direct Deposit and Check dates provided below are based on filing and transmitting as early as January 10, 2014 with some tax preparers, but with respect to IRS opening delay and it’s announcement here that it could begin ACCEPTING returns on January 28, 2014, but as late as February 4, 2014.

  1. gotta luv the government

I filed my taxes on april 15th. the reason I had waited till the last minute was because 1 I was waiting for a 1099 from ssa and then my husband passed away unexspectedly on march 16th so I had to take care of of his arragements. and I filed through h&r block online. Well I filed married joint and like we always did and from what I understood was that because he was alive all of 2016 I wasnt to report his death until I filed next years taxes. well needless to say I still have yet to receive my refund because I guess ssa reported his death to the irs and my tax return was booted out of there system. so the irs tax advocates had to step in to get the irs to fix all there mistakes.

@Bookie: yes I filed on the first day they opened for e-file and I was getting the same thing. I finally called the IRS they said they had an issue of identify theft under my account which they couldn’t notify me until the end of the season just Incase. I have them all my info they needed and my refund finally will be released in 2 days. Took them 3 weeks to complete the process from when I gave them my info but finally getting it released too my bank is better then still waiting. Call in and ask they might have gotten your old address mixed up with your new and sent a letter to a wrong address instead. Keep at them you’ll get it done and completed.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and
was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very

It’s been 16 days since I e-filed and the WMR irs site says they’ve received my tax returns and it’s being processed but I don’t see a status bar this year and it seems like it’s stuck on the same thing since say one. Should I worry about it ?

Wasn’t until I got it I saw they took money for a debt I owed DMV and sent me the rest. Before they sent me the state I saw they were mail in it and was confused as to why when I put FED. Now I know.

I filed by h and block online on the 15th where’s my refund app said processing until the feb 24th then it said refund approved. Said I will get my refund to my bank by March 1st. I had it loaded on to a walmart money card. I got my state refund before federal. That was suppose to go on my card to but they said they Mailed it. Reason being was the offset it for 78.00 and sent me a check for the rest. So…Im waiting now…for federal to hit my card. This is the longest it has ever taken me to get a tax refund!! I claimed my two kids. So had the EIC credit. I was stressing cause it took so look long.
