Just wanted to make a topic for people to go to when they have been put under review and share their experiences.
Filed 1/12 HRB online. Accepted 1/30. I was processing 1/30,1/31, and 2/1 and finally updated to this:
We have received your tax return and it is being reviewed. You will receive a notice from us requesting additional information within 30 calendar days. You may not receive all or part of your refund until we receive and review the information we requested. If you need more information after you receive our notice, call the number on the notice.
Please do not contact us until you have received the notice as we are unable to take any action until then.

impatientlywaiting: That coincides with what the agents where telling me. Two different agents stated I should still receive my refund in the 21 day time frame from the date it started processing on the 28th. We shall see as the 28th day if they include weekends will be the 2/17 as I know 2/18 is a holiday.February 8, 2013 at 4:38 pm #6049
I’m under review…filed the 30th, accepted the 30th as per the IRS. I just called, and was told that I’m under review, and it should only last approx. 7 more days. Same return as the past 10 years. Self Employed, 2 dep, HOH, EIC. In fact, My return is about the same as last year, and the past few years.February 8, 2013 at 3:59 pm #6047
Okay here’s my two cents not that it really means anything on the 1st of Feb I ordered a account transcript for 2012 could not order the return transcript cause I have the education credit which as we all found out does not process until Feb 14 so How can I get a transcript on a year that hasn’t happen yet… for me anyways… what I am thinking is I received the letter because of the delay of the 8863… there is no code on the letter or the hotline or WMR….I am still and have been since the 23rd processing… I AM NOT calling cause all they do is give me the run around… My patiences is way to then right now for that… now I could be totally wrong about this theory but… I wont know for sure till next week…. I will keep you posted on what happens…February 8, 2013 at 2:50 pm #6043
i don’t even wanna try and call. i know i’m gonna lose my temper and they’re just doing their job. wmr still says processing and when i call refund hotline it’s the same message. still no error code or irs ref code on wmr or hotline.February 7, 2013 at 9:58 pm #5987
Ok, here’s my story:
Used Turbotax. Filed 1/24, accepted 1/26. 1 W-2, EIC with 3 kids, same as last 3 years.
WMR and hot line have been processing ever since. No codes or review messages.
I called yesterday and the rep wasn’t helpful, said they didn’t get my return on 1/26, that they got it 1/31. Said everything looked ok, just give it 3 weeks (21 days).
Called again this morning since I still didn’t get an update on WMR, rep looked and said I had a hold on my return but she didn’t know why. She didn’t see any codes or anything and said they haven’t mailed out a letter. If they need anything they will mail one out but just figure 45 days before its released!
So I called this afternoon to see if another rep seen something different. Nope, it’s under review, she doesn’t know why. I may get a letter, maybe, if they need info. I asked her why WMR doesn’t say I’m under review and she said its not accurate.
I am soooo annoyed with this whole thing!February 7, 2013 at 6:38 pm #5973
I received this letter today it was very general and nothing specific as to why I am under review… I’m glad to know I am not the only one… Now for some reason my State (MI) has been pending acceptance since the 30th but today for some reason it was approved. As for my info
WMR Still processing no error codes at all
I have Ed Credit (Delayed till Mid Feb) CTC and profit and loss from self employment W2’s and a over 7k refund amount… I hope there is some info soon…. I was reading on the TT site last year this happen to ALOT of people… i filed though TA will post back when I get more InfoFebruary 7, 2013 at 4:17 pm #5969
filed 24th accepted 26th…there are a lot of 26ers being reviewedFebruary 7, 2013 at 3:23 pm #5963
Ok thanks for all the help. I’m gonna call tomorrow morning and post what info I find out. Hopefully it’s good newsFebruary 7, 2013 at 3:14 pm #5962
Also like someone else mentioned I have had far greater success with the men looking up my file. I usually try to ask them how their day is going and engage in some conversation while they are looking up my info (ie. weather, where they are located, sports, etc).February 7, 2013 at 3:11 pm #5961
hackney2009: 1st objective is to try to get them to open your file and look at it. Ask them that you just wanted to check to see if you have any errors or any debt indicators/offsets, flags, or under manual review on your file. They have to look at your return to find that information out. Once they have your file open then you can ask what you really want to know. If your refund was reduced then at that point ask them about the reduction and if they can tell you why the reduction.
Sometimes it takes multiple calls to get someone that is willing to help as many of them are trained to be rude and not open your file.February 7, 2013 at 3:03 pm #5960
Deuce1911 what questions did you ask? I want to call and try to get some answers for myself but I don’t want to get railroaded
Just because I don’t know what I’m talking about. Also I posted on the IGMR Facebook page and a lady told me the problem is
That I filed my niece and they just want to verify that she lives with me. I’m a first time filer so all of this is new to me.February 7, 2013 at 1:26 pm #5949
2013taxpayer : my refund was higher.. it was funny though I called yesterday when I received the letter monday evening and they could not find anything wrong with my return. I just played dumb and asked questions. Then when I told them about the letter they put me on hold and finally found the code.
When I was with my CPA today on the conference call today on the line he called they answered the call in less than 2 minutes… asked for his ID information and mine and looked at everything we asked them to. The person we spoke with said the code is nothing to be alarmed and basically just holds the funds in case someone wants to look at the return. He was searching for a reason why the return would of been held and then he asked how much it was for and when I told him over $7000 he then said that was the reason due to the high dollar amount. Said I should still receive it within the 21 day time frame like WMR is stating from the 28th which for me would be 2/18.February 7, 2013 at 1:18 pm #5948
also not to confuse anyone lol….i’m the sister of this username. my sis got her refund already.February 7, 2013 at 1:17 pm #5947
“I called my CPA and we conference called with the IRS Practioner Priority Services group in which they look up your return. I was flagged because of the size of the refund. He said nothing looks out of order just a code that slows up the return if someone wants to take a look at it hence the letter issued by the system.
He says I started processing on the 28th even though the 25th was the acceptance date I received. He said the refund is still scheduled to be disbursed within the 21 day time frame and nothing to be alarmed about. He said this letter is just the systems way to slow up the process to allow additional time IF someone wants to take a look at it. If it goes beyond the 21 days then there will be another letter but NO manual review right now and no flags outside of this code. Hope that gives everyone a little hope.”
@duece1911 Thank you so much for this helpful information!!! My refund is $3405, I’m wondering if I was flagged because that amount. Is your refund close to my amount?February 7, 2013 at 11:07 am #5926
WMR is showing processing, should receive refund within 21 days still today. No error codes or anything. Still haven’t received any mail from the irs. I am starting to think the hold on my refund was caused by a system error. My hold is scheduled to be released 2/18.February 7, 2013 at 8:41 am #5907
Ok thanks for the help deuce1911. Its really appreciated.February 7, 2013 at 8:31 am #5906
hackney2009 – Not sure but you would receive a letter stating you are being Audited if that was the case.
Remember that if anyone is experiencing a financial hardship due to the delay of their refund they can call the Tax Advocate group which is a free service to represent you and expedite or if not expedite at least research your situation more as they will act as your liason with the IRS during the process of the review.
The number is listed on the letter 4464c 1-877-777-4778February 7, 2013 at 8:27 am #5905
i checked my papers and the deposit that i received came out to be the exact amount of my Federal
Withholdings minus the fees HRB was supposed to take out. Does this mean im one of the lucky ones
that is getting a real audit instead of it being a computer error?February 7, 2013 at 8:19 am #5902

Have you seen anybody get the partial return?February 7, 2013 at 7:46 am #5899
I have been under review since the 1st also but I am only able to order a account transcript and not the return transcript. I still get the processing and refund expected in 21 days. No error codes or anything and when I call I had to actually tell them I received the letter as the IRS agents told me everything looked fine with the return. The agent yesterday actually had to go look up the letter 4464c before he gave me the 6 to 8 week spill. Another agent told me he is supposed to say 6 to 8 weeks but it usually is alot faster than that time frame.February 7, 2013 at 7:17 am #5896
I’ve been under review since the 1st but I was able to order my transcripts and I received a deposit from HRB for 200 bucks
Yesterday, which is wayyy less than what my return is supposed to be, but now when I check their systems they don’t have any
info about my return at all. It’s like I never even filed with
Them. I’m still waiting for my letter but I really can’t imagine what would be wrong since I didn’t prepare them myself. I also can’t
Find anyone in the same situation as me so it’s an even shittier situationFebruary 7, 2013 at 6:07 am #5890
i filed & got accepted on 1/28th. since 1/30th as of now, i am showing as returned received & processing on wmr & the same on refund hotline. i have just received a 4464 c letter yesterday. i was told on here to not to worry if i got the letter and on wmr still shows as processing and not a specific error/irs ref code on the wmr. also was told along with my sis (the original owner of this username) earlier today on here to not to worry about it because they got their refund the same day they got their under review letter. she called irs about it and they told her that they have been getting quite a few calls about it but need not to worry because it was a glitch in the system that has been sending out letters. hopefully, that is the case.
i also can’t order my return transcript but i can order my acct transcript.February 6, 2013 at 11:32 am #5799
WMR gives the generic 21 day message
BUT after reading the different forums and having friends that filed after me already get their taxes I decided to call. Took me 3 reps til I found out we were placed under review they didn’t state why other than it was for my protection. Like other people I claimed the Childcare Tax Credit and this is the only year that our return is different. My husband is still in the military but I worked 2 jobs and we moved so my kids went to 2 daycares. Was expecting a large amount upward of 15k. No offsets reported for either one of us and the rep I spoke to said they were mailing a letter but I don’t need to do anything and it can take up to 60 days…bleh! This has never ever happened and I’m a little nervous, scared and concerned. I will keep everyone posted.February 6, 2013 at 9:42 am #5781
I had to call the irs before i knew there was an issue. neither rep i spoke with said i was under review. they just say there’s an issue and my refund is on hold til 2/18.February 6, 2013 at 9:31 am #5776
I havent received a letter yet either but now wmr cant find my infoFebruary 6, 2013 at 9:27 am #5773
I have been proccessing since 1/31/12 but I haven’t received a letter yetFebruary 6, 2013 at 9:21 am #5770
Im not sure exactly, it shouldnt take more than 1 day of processingFebruary 6, 2013 at 9:21 am #5768
My message on WMR is processing and waiting 21 days… I just received letter from IRS that I am under review yesterday. I submitted via Tax Act on 1/20 and accepted on 1/25.February 6, 2013 at 9:19 am #5767
How long does it take to find out your under review? When your under review the WMR site is stating that?February 6, 2013 at 9:19 am #5765
I’m seeing a lot of people having problems with HRB. I dont know if its solely their problem but i
wanna know how it went from a 4 Grand refund to only 200 bucksFebruary 6, 2013 at 9:17 am #5763
I going to assume this email I got this morning from TurboTax is from the funds I received yesterday. It says funds are on their way and I should have them by the next bussinss day. I’m not holding my breathe but the rest of my refund would be appreciative.February 6, 2013 at 9:14 am #5762
Looks like mosr ppl are getting a review message of some sort besides me? I am confused.February 6, 2013 at 9:12 am #5761
Filed with HRB and accepted on 1/30. Expecting a return of 4 grand
Went into review a couple days later and was able to order transcripts yesterday.
Before today HRB website could’nt find my return but now their website is saying i never even filed with them!
WMR hotline still says I am under review.
HRB hotline says my funds have been sent to my bank.
Checked my bank account and it shows a deposit of 200 bucks from HRB..
Idk what boat im in but its looking like the titanic.. A lot of big ass holesFebruary 6, 2013 at 9:00 am #5756
i filed 1/27 with taxact. was done processing on 1/31 and ordered the transcript. 2/4 wmr still showed 21 day processing message.
called irs on 1/4. he said my refund is on hold til 1/18 but cant see why. he said that it isnt for debt. he said no letter has been sent out. he said if everything is ok by 2/18 my refund will deposit.
called irs back on 2/6. lady says i an still on refund hold, give it til 1/18. she says no letter has been sent as of this date either.
wmr still shows return processing.
i assume its not an eic review because i havent got any refund of the taxes paid in, and irs says my entire refund is on hold.
did anyone here see any other message besides “your return is being processed. you should get your refund within 21 days”?February 6, 2013 at 8:46 am #5755
Well I got what I paid in federal back but not the EIC so I’m guessing I have to provide documentation on it.February 6, 2013 at 7:15 am #5737
Just received the Letter LTR4464C also today and may take up to 60 days to process. No special forms or anything though added.February 6, 2013 at 4:37 am #5725
well I guess the review is for EIC and child tax credit at least for me, just noticed a deposit on my greendot card for only my federal taxes no EIC or CTC. load of BS, exact same filing as last year, I am the court ordered legal guardian of my nephew with a different last name. Filed with him last year with no issues [email protected]@K all of those who file fraudulently with other peoples kids, you caused this BS with the IRS looking at legit filers and holding up my $$$$February 6, 2013 at 1:54 am #5718
I’ve gotten a LTR 4464C letter that says my return is under review, and it might take up to 60 days to process. It said they may require additional information, but I don’t need to do anything yet. I used TT and filed on the 10th so my return was accepted quickly. The only problem is my return is delayed because of the Education Tax Credit delay until Feb 15th… From what I’ve read my return shouldn’t of been processed yet, and why I don’t understand why I even got a letter.February 5, 2013 at 5:02 pm #5686
Ok here is my situation. Got accepted on the 29, on the 1st got the dreadful msg Take action and I should receive a letter in the mail. On Sunday I had a deposit in my net spend card minus the EIC. So i called yesterday and talked to a very helpful rep. He said I should receive a letter in the mail stating that I have to prove that I have a right to claim for Eic. He didnt say when I will get the letter or how long it will take. Checked the mail and no letter yet. Really hoping it comes soon!February 5, 2013 at 4:53 pm #5680
I got a little bit of good news. I got what I paid in federal about an hr ago. Unfortunately they are still holding my EITC.February 5, 2013 at 3:49 pm #5672
Nothing in the mail again today! :(February 4, 2013 at 6:41 pm #5569
So I called HRB Emerald card to see if I had any pending deposits and they didn’t see anything however they did say that I should receive something on the 8th and no later than the 15th sooo that’s good news if it’s true. A little is better than nothing!February 4, 2013 at 4:50 pm #5540
I am getting all kinds of conflicting messages and dates from different and websites. WMR gives me this under review message, Irs2go says sent/deposited with no date or reference number, hotline gives me the WMR message, TurboTax says accepted, TurboTax mobile says it has been successfully acknowledged and you will receive your refund before 2/17 and mytaxrefund app says something else different. What a nightmare!February 4, 2013 at 3:53 pm #5518
Anyone get a refund that has been in review. Last year it delayed my refund one week. Hoping for the same this year.February 4, 2013 at 1:38 pm #5499
i filed on 1/28 accepted 1/29 processing for 4 days then went to review. Called IRS today and after talking the rep into looking up my return she said still processing. Not sure if this is accurate or not. I do have a schedule C, Filed HOH, and claim my nephew same as I did last year because I am his legal guardian with a court order. i have filed with a schedule C and W2 for the last 8 years never an issue.
Personally I have seen so many people comment on this review process I have no idea who is right, some say the review is generated by computer and may only cause a delay of a couple of days. Others say it can hold your refund for weeks or months.
Who knows????February 4, 2013 at 12:07 pm #5489
Nothing in the mail today. :( If anyone else gets anything make sure to let us know! :)February 4, 2013 at 10:18 am #5478
Well I tried calling this morning and had absolutely no luck in finding out why I am under review. She just told me it’s too early to find out anything about my return. She wouldn’t even look up my info. Just told me to wait 3 weeks to see if my status updates. What the heck is the call center there for then if they can’t answer questions that are actually deemed important other than people calling trying to get a friggin’ DD date after filing hours ago! SMH. Hopefully something comes in the mail today. I don’t want this getting dragged out too long.February 4, 2013 at 8:13 am #5473
TestFebruary 4, 2013 at 8:10 am #5472
I’m currently waiting on hold to find out what’s going on with it..
