My situation and if anyone has any KNOWLEDGE please let me know!
I filed on 15th and was accepted 16th. I had 1 bar on wheres my refund until 2nd of Feb.
I received no letters in the mail. My transcripts the whole time were just 0’s. My transcript date read 16th until this morning went to 23rd and now back to 16th.
I called today regular IRS number they ask me questions and tell me to call a different 800 number which turns out to be ” ID Verify” number. I answer all their questions the guy says he is satisfied that I am who I say I am. He tells me that I will now be back to regular processing but could take up to 6 weeks now from today’s date.
MY QUESTIONS ARE:
Has anyone gone through this?
How long does it really take to get a refund after verifying my identity?
Is it really close to 6 weeks or much faster?

Filed in late JAN 2017….got my letter March …verified my ID …9 weeks passed …nothing….so I called the 1040 phonenumber…got a cranky IRS rep…by the way, I was on hold foreverrrrrrr…..i explained my situation….was put on hold again…TICK-TOCK…. TICK-TOCK ( i grew a beard, kids left for college)….but then suddenly…they got back on the line….said they had to file an additional request to release my REFUND…Here’s the kicker …it will take up too an additional 60 days…Honestly everyone, I dont think anything is coming any time soon…i also asked them if filing the request would hold up the current 9 week process…they seemed confused…even bewildered that i might actually be right…and then mustered up the strength to say “we requested them to send your refund or a letter” I personally think they did nothing while I was on hold….I mean there’s no proof they submitted anything…
Oh well…we’ll see…February 27, 2017 at 5:14 pm #4187524
I just verified my identity. Today marks 21 days. When should I expect my refund?February 19, 2017 at 11:41 pm #4179677
I am currently the same situation. My only question is it really a nine week wait for your refund?? I just want to know what I am expecting. If it is really that long of a wait I want to know for sure and be ready for what I have to foward too. This is my first time this is happening to me. I am concerned any help is appreciated.February 10, 2017 at 2:25 pm #4166715
I did my taxes on 1/23/17
Accepted on 1/24/17
Refund Date 2/13/17
Received Verify ID Letter 2/6/17
Called and passed my ID check now they are telling 9 weeks!!!!!!
The state of Connecticut did a Verify ID, it was released the next day.
WTH I did my taxes early on purpose, my dad is dying and I need to get to Florida.
I’m so scared my dad is going to pass away before I get the money to get there.
IRS has no right, why the hell is it going to take 9 weeks.
Not to mention how screwed i’m going to be once the flood gates open on 2/15/17 when they start processing Earned Income Credit tax papers.
This isn’t right, I need my money to see my dad before he passes away and that honestly can be any day. SMH no need for 9 weeks once verified it should move to approved, not back to processing. Even the DMV doesn’t make you wait hours again, they say come back to my window.
Can’t win!!!February 9, 2017 at 10:50 am #4149336
Mad Ass Hell
I am so sick of the IRS thinking they can hold people taxes up. I have been going through this shit since 2012 every year they come up with the bullshit stating that this is completely random(but they always pull my shit) when all the fucking thieves and the people who have done the identity theft has gotten there fucking refund. i have shit to do.I have house payment i needed made- they had me sign for all this personal ID pin and all type of bullshit and when i use these different pins on my return i would not be held up or anything which was a fucking lie. I hate fucking hate the IRS-Feds AND THIS FUCKING GOVERNMENT .
i am extremely pissed the fuck off- i filed my taxes with Turbo Tax on Feb 12th-2016 and they accepted this with in mins- my refund date was march 5th and these bitches still haven’t given me my fucking taxes. Then i been finding that people who have people that work with the IRS get all their fucking family members returns pushed through and then IRS been running out of money and everyone else has to wait. i fucking hate AMERICA- Fucking money hungry bitches- sneaky fuck bag ass USA- dirty bastardsJuly 21, 2016 at 12:35 pm #4150457
I verified my ID from the IRS local office on 04/20. It has been 13 weeks still no refund. I called IRS on 8th week, they said everything is okay, I should just wait. But it is frustrating. It’s almost August and still no refund. Has anyone got their refund 9 week or more after the verification? I just want to see a person in same situation and actually got the refund.June 18, 2016 at 2:28 pm #4150415
I went into office and verify in person how long do I wait I only had I’d social n tax returnMay 26, 2016 at 2:51 pm #4150364
Did taxes on 2-26-2016 and accepted by IRS. Recieved ID verification letter 4-3-2016 verified via the phone on 4-3-2016 told it would take up to 9 weeks but should only take 3 weeks but I should see a change on the website in a couple of days. Called ID verification # about 4 weeks later because I had no refund and no change on the website from being processed refund date given when available. Informed that it was accepted and to wait till after 9 weeks from the April 3rd date to call back. 5-26-2016 still no refund and no change on the website. Its been 8 weeks since I verified and I don’t think its coming anytime soon. IRS should not make statements that are not true and should be penalized if they are wrong or late.May 16, 2016 at 10:19 am #4150333
I filed 1/19/16. The first filing day. After 2 months passed and no update on the Where’s My Refund site, I called and was told to WAIT for a letter to come in the mail. That was already stupid. If I waited an hour, why not tell me what’s wrong now? Another week and I got a letter telling me that I needed to verify my ID. It instructed me to go to the IDVERIFY website. I successfully passed the verification 10 weeks ago and still no update. So 4 months in total and still no update. They put my family through this crap and we all verified ourselves on the same day. They got their refunds the following week and mine is still stuck in limbo somewhere. They want me to keep verifying and verifying as if they’re looking for me to answer 1 question out of 40 wrong or something. This entire ID verification system is flawed beyond comprehension. They need to yank it and seriously revamp it. I needed my month 4 months ago.May 15, 2016 at 10:43 pm #4150331
This is such BS. Two years in a row. Same address, same direct deposit account for the refund, same maried couple filing, same employers… NOTHING at all has changed since last year but they need to make sure we are who we say we are AGAIN.
I think this is just a bullshit scam to keep our money in their pockets a little while longer.April 19, 2016 at 7:59 am #4150182

How long after identity verified did it take for the website where’s my refund to update to received/accepted again?February 29, 2016 at 10:41 am #4144655
Try to stay positive good things come to those who are positive! This tax season is crazy this is my second year dealing with this and this year is way worse then last but it will all work it’s self out! Just know that no matter what ur going thru others could be going thru worse!February 29, 2016 at 3:34 am #4144613
I believe in Murphy’s Law I don’t have any tattoos even though I’ve been to prison come I am a very negative person but I will say when things go wrong and they fall apart I am not surprised but I do have a little story about the identification form. I’m really not gonna get in too deep but I will say I filled the form out online and I got a tax question wrong. So the IRS looked at it as I was being a victim of identity theft when in reality I made a simple mistake online because I am so desperate to get my return. Like I said I’ve had a lot of problems with things going wrong to the point where I’m considering getting that tattoo Murphy’s Law, but this just makes me wanna commit suicide it’s better then moving in a life that constantly makes you cringeFebruary 28, 2016 at 3:23 pm #4144569
questions from last years return and questions about loans you have or payments you make on a car or a house the amounts and who they are thru. old addresses stuff like that! Things they would ask to get a credit report!February 28, 2016 at 3:19 pm #4144568
What sort of questions does the verify department ask you?February 19, 2016 at 2:55 pm #4142290

Jeff— There is no alternate number to verify your id. I also was having a hard time getting through to them. I finally took other peoples advice and just called back to back for about 20 mins and I finally got through. Hang up call right back, hang up call right back until you get through. Hope this helps you.February 17, 2016 at 5:24 pm #4141333
Feb 17th, 2016/// Verified Identity and now it says 6 more weeks to process…
What’s funny is that the IRS says it processes 9/10 returns in 21 days or less. Now that mine has been accepted by the system, looked at and flagged and now “ID Verified”…it now takes an additional 42 days?? Shouldn’t this get faster movement now that it’s already “accepted”?? I call bullshit!
Hope IRS gets abolished….February 17, 2016 at 12:21 pm #4141178
I have tried calling the ID Verify number and all I get is ” High volume of called, try again later”
Does anyone else have an alternate number other than 800-830-5084February 16, 2016 at 12:21 pm #4140604
ChiTown-Please go to topics & go to for anyone who had to ID verify please read.Read my comment. Nicolas.Good luck !!February 16, 2016 at 11:40 am #4140577
I was told by a tax advocate that I had to verify my ID today so I did now they are saying 9 weeks has anyone got theirs in less than 9 weeks??February 14, 2016 at 9:39 pm #4139889
i just verified my ID on 2/9/16 and after reading through this trend i’m saying to everyone who verified their ID to change plans don’t rely on this money it is bad luck you not gonna get it on time, just forget about it. I’m not even gonna try calling this is pathetic, they could take money for 12 months but can’t give it back ? we had to go through the stress of having to verify our identity and then it takes forever to get it back ? like we criminals? and they dont even explain to you why you need to verify they say for your own safety, well if i did pass the verification why not give it to me ? and why does it have to take 21 days before they send a letter for ID verification ? they heartless fools, if you suspect something wrong with an application let a person know early, they know people depend on this money yet they dont give. glad i have a back up plan even though i need this money badly. i have been cheated by the American government and God will surely deal with you people.February 11, 2016 at 11:46 pm #4138206
I did my tax’s on Jan 19. So I should have gotten my return on Feb 9. When I didn’t I called. I never got a letter or even a notice on the website all it ever said is your return is still being processed. A return date will be update when avaible.
when I finally got someone on the phone after saying I wanted to make a payment I was told a security hold had been placed and I need to call 800-830-5084 to verify my identity. I did and I was given the same it could be up to 9 weeks. Anyone in 2016 get their returns back after doing id verify? How long was it?
Today My WMR Status has changed from ” Your refund is still being processed” to “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”
I need this return, so I am trying to be hopeful I will post if I get it soon.February 11, 2016 at 8:45 am #4137687
i had to go in a irs office to verify and the man said he was pushing it through but it will take up to 9 wks to either get a refund or get a letter requesting more info. But that he was satisfied that I am me.July 31, 2015 at 6:08 am #4112667

Well, I filed our taxes on 2/14/15. First refund date was 3/7. Got the “Letter” on 3/5-verified and got the Congratulations message and waited and waited and waited. Finally called the magic number and spoke to a very nice agent who informed me that on April 26, our case was officially closed in the Income Verification Dept and our refund should have been released. SHOULD HAVE BEEN..means they didn’t hit the “Send” button. He said he would send them an email and it should be released in 4 or 5 days since the mistake was clearly the Income Verification Dept. He advised I call back the following Monday if no change on the WMR site. So, on the following Monday I called the number and waited 1:45 minutes only to have a snarky agent tell me that although he was very nice and thorough- 4 or 5 days meant 45 days so don’t expect anything until 8/7. REALLY? YOUR MISTAKE and I have to suffer and wait for them to verify the case was closed on April 26??!! I had no words for the snarky, rude and otherwise mean spirited agent who had no problem throwing a colleague under the bus. Contradiction and just plain rudeness was all I got but once again I am playing the waiting game for our money. We shall see on 8/7 if there is any change in the status.June 13, 2015 at 3:34 am #4112401
I just wanted to let everyone know I filed on 1.23.15 and wmr just updated to refund sent 6.13.15. It has been a long and painful wait, but it’s coming to an end! This happened after I verified my identity on May 27th, I didn’t receive a 5071c letter until late May. It was the first correspondence we received from the IRS regarding our 2014 tax return.May 21, 2015 at 10:55 am #4111923
Filed my return on 1/27/2015 ….Accepted on 1/28/2015… IDverified on 3/3/2015….. Was told I had to wait 6 weeks…NOTHING…… Got a letter 4/10 stating that because of the idverify process it would take an additional 60 days from the date of the letter(4/3/2015) to either get our refund or will hear from them within that time frame. No changes on the where’s my refund and no letters.May 15, 2015 at 6:15 am #4111867
On week 10 now after I did my id verify and still nothing!May 9, 2015 at 8:44 pm #4111798
For the identity verification they asked how long I been living at my residence how much is the mortgage if I have one do I have a loans what was my previous jobs they will give u a option to choose any of the answers they give you or you can say none of the above n they only asked one question about my return n yes I did have to have it in front of me to answer the question but that was almost 10 weeks ago they told me I only had to wait 6 weeks now I have to wait until the end of June to the first week of July because they are still backed up smhMay 9, 2015 at 6:27 pm #4111795
I just received that letter today and I don’t have a copy of my taxes…rrrrr…Can you tell me what kind of questions to they ask about the transcript…I need that money and it will take longer until I can get another copy…thanks…May 5, 2015 at 8:49 pm #4111740
Well I am mad as a tornado in a trailer park! and I am not kidding. I filled my taxes on April 15th thinking I would be paying in because my son is 19. Found out I was getting a refund because he is still in school. That being said I am a teacher in a title one district and immediatly as soon as I hear that I am getting a refund hot tears rolled down my face because I was very troubled about something. In my class I keep breakfast items because all to often the kids come in on Monday crying because their tummys hurt because they are hungy. It is an every Monday ordeal. I am so worried about these kids not having school to go to on Monday during the summer, or Tuesday through Friday. I am scared they won’t be eating right. I asked if I could start a summer reading club so they could come to school and that way we can feed them. The school said if I could fund it they would provide the food and I provide the books. Well I was at my wits ends trying to figure all this out in such a short time. I find out I am getting a refund and there it is and I will get it just in time to make the deadline to file all the necessary papers for my ability to keep staff in the school over summer, and guess what ID VERIFY, did I not verify myself at the tax office. Now I could see this if I had done a filling on the computer at home but I walked into an office of a licensed tax professional and this is not fair that they can hold your funds hostage and they have absolutly no answers I would feel better if they would play a recording that says hey we F***d your tax refund up and thats our bad but honestly we screwed up so bad with this that there are papers in the floor and in the sink were working short staffed so we brought the kids up from the company daycare and they are wading through the tax mess as quickly as a 2 year old can. We appologize but please quit calling cause the 2 year olds can’t get to the phone right now. I would rather hear that than 6 weeks and were doing this to protect you…I don’t need your protection, I got me and you should take care of you, I got my end and I don’t need you worrying about my personal info, and giving me that excuse about someone could have hacked my doctor info online cause I don’t do that on line either. GOSHHHHHH told you tornado in a trailer park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!May 5, 2015 at 1:50 pm #4111731
Filed via TurboTax 2/6/15 -accepted
Called to verify identity on 3/27/15 was told 4-6 week.
Called on 4/24 (4 weeks) and was told up to 9 weeks.

I filed in Janurary, received my identify verification letter March 3rd. Called and verified immediately. Was told the same spill, in 6 weeks I would either get my refund or another letter….still haven’t gotten ANYTHING! No change in my status online either.May 4, 2015 at 7:58 am #4111705
After my 6weeks i have to wait an additional 3weeks now. Saying my return was just reviewed has anyone gotten their returns after 9weeksMay 1, 2015 at 2:39 am #4111662
I was accepted March 12th, never had bars, had to go thru id verification. It’s been SEVEN WEEKS SINCE I DID ID VERIFICATION AND STILL NOTHING!!! NO BARS NOT JACK. IM NOT UNDER REVIEW EITHER. IM GIVING UP HOPE.April 25, 2015 at 10:10 pm #4111573
I filed on feb3rd. It said accepted then processing and then I got the reference number 9001. I called they said I was all set. Then I got the letter. Went online verified my identity there. I’ve called twice since because wmr doesn’t change. They told me 9 weeks. So the date they gave me was May 20th. When I called the last time they said on April 15th the irs had just accepted my earned income credit and that it said still being processed. wmr hasn’t changed at all. Still no info on my tax refund and something about wait 4-6 weeks after my refund has been mailed in. I e-filed! So I really don’t think there’s anything to do but wait. At least the gentleman I got ahold of told me what they were processing and where it was. Still waiting though.April 21, 2015 at 9:45 am #4111471
Ugh! I verified my identity 7 weeks ago now! and still nothing. could it be because I called about 3 times to get to verify. the first time my call got disconnected then the second time the lady who answered was lazy and rude and said to me I’m having a hard time walk in to a office and clicked on me i didnt even get to say thank you to her for her time. the third time it was finally success! but I need my money and I need it now!April 19, 2015 at 5:00 pm #4111450
I verify my identity on April 15 and I haven’t heard anything more from or having move my bar please someone tell me after verifying your identity how long do your bars appear back on the WNr ro websiteApril 19, 2015 at 3:30 pm #4111448
I Filed my taxes thru turbo Tax March 28, 2015 got accepted the same day. My bars on wheres my refund never moved from “RETURN RECEIVED” so the 21 day grace period was over April 14, 2015 . I verify my identity online after I received the letter April 15, 2015 it said congratulations after I was done! The bars on where’s my refund tool haven’t reappeared yet. I’m assuming because it’s only been 3 days since I verified my identity! This my first year filing so I really hope I get my refund. Is anybody still waiting??April 14, 2015 at 10:22 am #4111343
So today my 6 weeks are up and still no money I called IRS after 1 hour someone answered they told my that they are backed up and can not give me a date on when i should be getting my money then she gives me a number to speak to a IRS advocate to see if the can help me waited only 3 minutes I was told the only way I can get my refund quick was if i have a eviction notice a medicical emergency or a shut off notice from a bill since i have none of those yet and have no proof i just have to wait how long i have to wait they dont know then she wanted to transfer me back to the main IRS # to see if they can help me mind you they are the ones who gave me their number smh I have bills stacking up but i guess thats not good enough to get my money sooner i hoe i get it by the end of this week i dont want to wait 2 more weeksApril 11, 2015 at 1:38 pm #4111264
Tanisha, if your call got disconnected before they were completely done, I would start the process over completely. During my total 2 hour call I was put on hold 3 times and each time was told it will be 10 minutes or less. That is part of their script, after 10 minutes it rings back to them and they talk to you and say I’m still working may I place you back on hold again it will be 10 minutes or less. One of those times I asked if something should go wrong and I get disconnected can you please call me back so I don’t lose the work you’ve done? She said we are not allowed to call out at all. Should that happen you have to call back and work with whoever you get, which means start the process over. Luckily my call did not disconnect and although it took 2 hours (mostly on hold) was told the process was complete, she had completed working on my account, and within 6 weeks I would either have a refund or another letter.
It is clear they don’t want me calling over and over which is why they say 6 weeks. I’m presuming it should take much less than 6 weeks for normal processing.
I checked transcript today again and there was no movement or entry there to indicate anything happened. I will continue to watch every day, and probably if no movement in another 10 days will call again.April 9, 2015 at 10:03 pm #4111224
Len I have been dealing with this for 3 months and as today I still dont know anything. I to have verified my id twice and have recieved the letter. I also have a tax advocate as well they have not been able to help either as far as I can tell.I hope this process doesnt take this long for you as it has me. whats even worse when you call they cant tell you anything either but I still call once a week just for some hope.April 9, 2015 at 7:51 pm #4111222
I received my letter today to verify my identity. I held for 50 minutes and the rep. identified my identity. Than my phone disconnected after she put me on hold. Now What?April 9, 2015 at 7:15 pm #4111221
e-filed with TurboTax 3/10/15. Refund approved, to be mailed 3/20. On 3/21 reference code 1121, processing delayed. Called IRS 3/23, 30 min wait, letter would be coming, no further information. 3/30 got Letter 5071C id-verify. Immediately went online as instructed, got message “Congratulations you have successfully verified id. Processing will resume, be advised this normally takes up to 6 weeks.”
Every day checked WMR, also downloaded transcript. No change. Waited 10 days 4/9 (today) called, 60 min wait, was told no record that I ever completed verification. Do again. Went online, says cannot verify your id online must call. (Maybe because I did already?) Called the idverify number, 60 min wait, woman said no record I had done it before so did verbally on phone with her, took 60 mins more to complete, including put me on hold 3 times 10 mins each time.
Told id verified, now allow 6 weeks before calling again, within 6 weeks should either get refund or another letter with more instructions. If no refund and no letter after 6 weeks, call main # again.
Told her I check WMR daily, also download transcript daily, and asked would I see it appear on the transcript that id had been verified? No, it will not appear there. (But note the person on the prior call at WMR said yes it should have shown there.) Told me nothing to do now but wait.April 3, 2015 at 9:44 am #4111062
STILL WAITING DID THE ID VERIFY ON MARCH 3RD CALLED IRS ON THE 20TH THEY SAID THEY STILL HAVEN’T RECIEVED MY TAXES THAT IT STILL SHOWS THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON IT TO CALL BACK 6 WEEKS FROM THE 3RD WMR STILL SAYING We have received your tax return and it is being processed WHEN I TOLD THE IRS GUY THAT IT’S BEEN SAYING THIS SINCE FEB.3RD HE SEEMED SURPRISED BUT HE REALLY DIDNT TELL ME NOTHING BUT WAIT FOR THE FULL 6 WEEKS THIS SUCKS I NEED MY MONEY NOW ITS GOING ON 5 WEEKS SINCE I CALLED TO VERIFY N GOING ON 9 WEEKS SINCE I FILED MY TAXESApril 2, 2015 at 8:02 am #4110971
Same as me, my taxes were filed on 2/18 and were accepted the same day. Only to find out two weeks later I had to verify my identity. I called the IRS number verified who I was and passed. Told me it would take 4 to 6 weeks processing time… Its now 4/2/2015 and I have yet to hear anything about my refund!!! Its frustrating but what other choice do I have have.? If I’m not mistaken, this marks week number 3 going to the 4 the week. Maybe I will hear something next week about my refund. I’m hoping it won’t take 6 weeks or 8 weeks for them to deposit my refund. I wish the IRS would stop bullshittn and let go of my money. It seems like the people they pull to verify are the ones that actually work and put in man hours to provide for this country, while it takes no time for a person that’s illegally filing to get their refund in no time!!March 31, 2015 at 12:43 am #4110904
So..I filed Feb 22nd, refund has been processing now till the end of march. I have not gotten the letter, but was told there was identity theft issues that were delaying my approval. Not sure what you all mean by bars..I see no bars when I go to WMR. Should I go do the id identify thing proactively even though I have not gotten a letter yet?March 27, 2015 at 12:03 pm #4110830
Filed taxes electronically on Feb 10th. Got the 5071c letter in the mail Mar 6th and I verified online on the 6th of Mar. Said it was successful and I had to wait 6 weeks. Called the IRS Mar 25th and they said it was verified on the 12th of Mar (not the 6th) and I had to allow 8 weeks to process. Frustrated that the date keeps getting pushed back.March 24, 2015 at 5:18 pm #4110705
i filed feb 5 , 2015 bars disappeared a few days after then my 21 days passed and still nothing now its 3/24/15 and a few days ago i decided to call irs and was told to id verify did that today i was told 6 to 8 weeks to process . its just the waiting game and we have no choice but to wait thats itMarch 21, 2015 at 8:03 am #4110544
Filed February 2. Accepted Feb 2..
Bars went missing and status said that my refund was still being processed and a date would be provided.
Called IRS on Feb 27. Had to go through verifying my identity. Was told that it would take 6-8 weeks to process and be received.
Called IRS on the 16th of March. Was told that refund was reviewed on March 11 and would take an additional 9 weeks.
Checked WMR On March 19, status says that refund has been accepted and is now being reviewed.
Checked WMR on March 21.. Refund is going to be direct deposited on March 25..March 18, 2015 at 10:29 pm #4110450
In the same boat people filed 02/19 but they didn’t actually get it until the 23rd bars went missing 7 days later ..found out I had to id verify..did that 03/15 was told I completed the verification, told back in processing wait 6 wks now like everybody else just waiting on my damb moolah, Ive heard some got theirs within 1 to 2 wks after verifying I hope i get lucky as well!!!!March 18, 2015 at 6:11 pm #4110437
Filed on 2/5.. Verified my Id on 3/11.. they told me on 3/11 to wait 4-6 weeks.. it’s now 3/18 and nothing yet.. no bars back on wmr… just waiting at this point.
I’ve never had to do this before, nor have I ever had my identity stolen, so to have my taxes held up for some precautionary bureaucratic bullshit is aggravating.March 18, 2015 at 1:19 am #4110408

–Just this week got 5071C IRS letter in the mail 3/15 to verify identity although letter said was mailed 3/04
–Went online to verify identity – got a “congratulations” and a “could take up to 6 weeks”
Now … just … waiting … to … get … my … money … back … in … my … pocket … !
Someone tell us some good news !!!!!!!!!March 14, 2015 at 6:41 am #4110208
I’m in the same boat. I filed with TT on 2/10/15. It Was accepted by the IRS by 2/12/15 with a DD date of 3/5/15. I received the 5071c letter on 3/1/15 and verified my identity online via the identify IRS site listed in the letter. The website told me to allow up to 6 weeks for my refund. WMR still says processing and it’ll be 2 weeks on Sunday. I called the IRS today and was advised that my identity was verified and I’ve done everything I need to do. The agent I spoke to told me it could take up to 8 weeks from 3/2/15. I’ve read from a few people that it took anywhere from 3-16 weeks to get their refunds after the identity verification. I sure hope it’s no longer than 6 weeks . Has anyone received their refund in less than 6 weeks after verifying their identity?March 12, 2015 at 12:37 pm #4110125

Are there any success storie? , Please!!! This is the first time I have experienced this. Just verified my ID online yesterday, of course I still do not have any bars; only still processing.
Don’t want to except that it could be another 6 weeks when is usually only takes me 6 days with turbo tax. I filed Jan 31, 2015.March 10, 2015 at 8:32 pm #4110013
I got the 5071C letter today. I’m not surprised, as I’d heard that people eligible for Education Credit tend to get pulled. Still, it’s a pain. For those who need the phone number, it’s 800-830-5084, the web site is idverify.irs.gov. I didn’t call the number, just did the web form. The message I got online is that I was successful and to expect my refund to take another 6 weeks.March 7, 2015 at 10:57 am #4109848
What kind of questions does the IRS ask when you call in to verify your identity?March 3, 2015 at 8:53 pm #4109575
IRS rep I called told me I had to call this number to verify …. 1-800-830-5084 and/or website identity verification service (idverify.irs.gov)February 27, 2015 at 6:37 pm #4109190
DO NOT WORRY! You will all get your refund. I filed Jan 14. Bars disappeared Jan 28. Called Irs Feb 15, was told I needed to verify my identity. Called the number I was given, verified myself on Feb 19 and was told I would receive my return between 2-6 weeks. As of this morning on WMR, my bars have reappeared, just waiting on refund to be approved!February 27, 2015 at 9:16 am #4109138
ID verified and they said should have an update in 6 days. That was weird. She said it was due to my moving to a different state.February 27, 2015 at 8:19 am #4109131
I tried to ID verify online (due to n/a on my transcripts and unable to verify) and it said that they could not process my return until I CALLED IN and ID verified. Why have verify online if they won’t process it? It says I have to call the 1-800 number to ID verify. Anyone else going through this? I called the 1-800 number and of course it says call back another day all lines are busy. I guess at this point I just keep trying. I didn’t get my return until June in 2014. No explanation just 1121 and wait. Now this year it feels like a repeat delay, delay, delay.February 25, 2015 at 11:51 am #4108900
THis sucks so freakin bad im glad its just a simple verification process instead of an actual identity theft where they bullshit you around all year and you dont get anything at all until the end of the year from what i hear…. what a disappointment when we wait all year for this to catch up and pay things off for broke people lol but oh well seems like it may only take a few more weeks so keep our heads up lolFebruary 25, 2015 at 9:13 am #4108879
I efiled through turbotax 2/1/2015 got accepted the same day was processing untill 2/19 then bars left tax topic 152 appeared and come to find out needed to Verify myself so i did that 2/23/15 was told i would see approved today the the 24th so i didnt and i called now they say 6-8wks …HELPPPPPP TA wont helpFebruary 24, 2015 at 5:52 pm #4108819
I am dealing with this right now. i keep getting the error 9001 on my wheres my refund i spoke with someone and verified my identity 3 weeks ago and i am still getting the 9001 error, and i also just recieve a 5071c letter in the mail from the IRS talking about the same thing… i really hope i dont have to wait 6 weeks, its only been half the time and i cant wait anymore…February 23, 2015 at 10:47 am #4108630

I have been through this 2 years ago and it only took me a week to get my refund after ID verify ! My cousin also took about 6 days after verifying. The 6 weeks in a window frame to keep us from calling so much in between the wait. I am going through it again. I’m sure it will only take up to 7 days. I’m not worried done it and been there.February 13, 2015 at 2:31 am #4106575
I still haven’t got my refund n I don’t have any codes on my wmr. Does that mean I’m okay n that it’s still processing. It is my first time filing and I’m scared that something wrong. It jus says still processing on my wmr :) someone please help meFebruary 12, 2015 at 9:36 pm #4106493
I called in today if your status on WMR is saying ” We cannot provide any information about your return then you have to call the ID theft number @ 1-800-830-5084, the wait was long though about 1 hour long. But they ask you a series of questions like refund amount, ssn, address, name, dob, fathers name, prior years return of income w-2,1099-misc., and the sort. she said i wsput back into the processing files and will take 6 weeks but WMR still has not changed though.February 12, 2015 at 2:47 pm #4106368

what number are you calling to verify your id?February 12, 2015 at 2:38 am #4106163
I am also going through this….. It’s been a week since I had to do the ID verify thing and still nothing everytime I try to check the statue online all I get is it is still processing and will get a refund date when available….February 10, 2015 at 11:56 am #4105240
My taxes were also review for ID theft last year and waited until April to get my refund (TA helped alot). I was never given a PIN to file my taxes this year so I filed via TurboTax and was accepted 1/23. I called today and was told that my return is still being processed as my “information is being verified”. I was told this means it will take 6-8 weeks from 2/2/15 before I could get an update or refund. Since my 21 days will be on 2/13, I will call my TA on Monday for assistance as all my info (dependent, address, etc) is the same from 2013. It seems that once you have ID theft, it will haunt you forever….February 9, 2015 at 11:30 pm #4104934
I just went through this today. I filed on 1/20 and had the same issue with one bar, disappearing, all 0s…all that jazz. I spoke with an IRS rep and was told I had to verify my identity. After doing so, I was told anywhere from 2-8 weeks to process. I am hoping to see and update tomorrow, but have no idea exactly what happened or is happening. Just know, you are not alone and God bless.February 9, 2015 at 10:35 am #4104588
