Filed an IS form 2/28/14 due to (soon to be ex-) wife’s students loans. I filed the IS form by paper AFTER our refund didn’t come in from the original filing. Checked the IRS transcript and it says that the Refund was issued on 4/26/14. I have been reading many different scenarios in this forum, but none are exactly like mine. From what I have read here, though, it appears that 1) My refund check should be cut and sent to me 14-21 days after the refund is issued. Correct? 2) The check will be made out to both of us since we filed jointly and were not separated or divorced when the IS was filed. Correct?
Side note: this also happened 3 years ago with my loans. She hasn’t worked in 5 years but still filed an IS form to get some cash. The IRS gave her a couple thousand dollars which I just found out about last month. She hid the letter and must have forged my signature on the check or declared us divorced/separated which we weren’t. Attorney says nothing can be done. SMH.

On this Mother’s Day I wanted to stop by and check in on all the GREAT people that encouraged and supported me during my first tax season of Injured Spouse! I hope that all is going well and you all have refunds in sight!

@msj.o Hello I guess we’re in the same boat, I efiled 2/24 with an injured spouse and got accepted the same day, 3/12 I received a letter saying that my refund has been applied to a past due obligation, because of my husband’s school loan, and they ask me to send them an Injured spouse form again, so I did, they received it 4/02.. and I been checking my transcript for 3 weeks and it never updates.
I check WMR and it say: YOUR REFUND HAS BEEN APPLIED TO A PAST BLAH BLAH BLAH…
This is what my codes in my transcript and still the same:
    150___2/24___$0.0
    806___4/15___$111111111
    766___4/15___$111
    768___4/15___$111111111
    570___2/24___$0.0
    571___2/28___$0.0
    846___3/24___$11111111
    898___3/24___$0.0
    971___4/02___$0.0
I called the IRS last week and they said it takes up to 8 weeks from the day they received my IS for me to receive my refund.

I am so tired of waiting…

We received our DD in our account on Wed morning. FYI. We filed Feb.6th. E-filed with injured spouse. accepted the same day. Did not hear anything for months. Transcripts updated to release code and the next week our DD was there. WMR never updated. We live in Texas but they gave us a little more than half our expected refund. Also, my name is not on his account but wells fargo let it go through. Good luck to everyone still patiently waiting.

Ok so I called today and finally spoke with a nice lady that put in a referral for me. She said it’s just sitting and has not been touched. Awesome…… they said they have 2-4 weeks to either refund or at least provide an answer. She said to give it a week and I can call back in for an update. Hope this helps.

I electronically filed taxes & injured spouse form and was accepted on 2/14… I had an as of date on transcript of 3/10 and then that changed to 3/31. I have a code of 570 with a date of 3/10. I have had no change in transcript or any further information since then. WMR says the same ol’ “return still being processed, we’ll notify you of a refund date when it’s available” blah blah blah. I’ve called weekly, no further information can be provided. No work has been done on it. Told me to call back. It’s been almost 12 weeks… you would think they could provide SOME type of an update. Quick to take our money, but sure as he** can’t return it in a timely fashion. It’s never taken this long.

Ok. That’s also what mine says still. I was told by the IRS last week that they could deposit throughout the day. I just figured it’d be there by now.

Yes, last Friday it changed to …..Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by May 7, 2014.
If your refund is not credited to your account by May 12, 2014, check with your bank to see if it has been received.
I just checked it again, and am still getting that same message.

I called 800-829-1040 and just went on gut with the prompts, aiming for the one that would not lead me to an automated response. I sat on hold for a good 30 minutes, and finally someone helped. I was also accepted on 2/6 and my forms were just sitting on someones desk. No action at all, just sitting there waiting. She pushed through a referral, so now I am back on the waiting game.
Really furstrating that mine landed on a poor performer. Hopefully this shows up on his/her performance review.

I can give you what I do, I’m sure there’s a lot of these ways but I know this works.
Call 18008290922 then press 1 for English, 1 for next option, and then when it asks for social hit 0 then when it asks again hit 9. Then it will transfer you.
Good luck, I just found out yesterday that my case was done Friday and we were accepted 1/30. They were definitely in no kind of rush this year.

    Hi,

I filed electronically on February 6th with my injured spouse form and I am still waiting for my refund. I have tried all the numbers and just get rerouted back to the automated system where I get NO help. Any ideas? I have been waiting patiently and have not called or looked but now that I am already in May I would like some information. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

@chaddox your transcript should update this week and your check should mail next Friday the 16th or if dd it should be next wednesday the 14th. At least when mine closed that is how it went and most everyone else I have read about have been similar.

Quick question for whoever is still around. Found out today that my case closed on 5/2. Typically how long do you think before I see my refund?

    Tiff

Hey everyone I’ve been watching this forum for awhile now and I got a lot of good advice from here but i’m curious finally my transcripts all changed yesterday and today I have a DD but the refund amount on both is the full refund anyone know if that will change? On the refund page it says “Your refund may be reduced even further if you owe any past due obligations such as child support, another federal agency debt, or state income tax.” but shouldn’t I be able to see if they were going to take more with the injured spouse?

You are welcome @Christina. For those still waiting their is a closed injured spouse group on Facebook with the most accurate information I have seen, I just ask to join and was accepted last night. After all the diff answers I kept getting about DD dates and etc, I finally got some real answers on their. Thought this might be helpful to someone. :)

Christina, can I ask what your as of date is, or the date next to your 846 if you have one? My date is 5/19, but I figured probably DD next week with a 2 week safety built in for them, hence why it is dated for so far away.

Thanks @chasity. I was told something similar this morning. I called in and only spent 26 minutes total from dial to hang up on the phone. A really nice man told me that after he forced a refresh on the system, it showed we’d get a DD on Wednesday. I was so excited to hear an actual date. He said WMR would update tonight or tomorrow night.

If you have 846 code for 5/19/2014 and you opted for DD it will be next WED the 7th but some banks release it on Tue, or if you get paper check it will be mailed next Friday the 9th. I got locked out of my transcripts so cannot view them until tomorrow. Boo :(

@AMHT i think it will be next if you have DD, mine updated with the same code and date finally. I called last week on the 23rd and they said i would see the deposit 2 weeks from that day which would make it next week. :-) Finally its happening!!

Transcripts finally giving me a 846 with a 5/19 date. WMR still hasn’t changed from the still processing screen. Hoping that the DD will be sooner than the 19th since I know others have gotten it sooner. 12 weeks by my figuring, but 11 weeks according to the IRS. I call BS that they were still working on it. I think they are finished, but are instructed to hold them to the last possible day they can. Most likely the handful of people that got them faster than 11 weeks had either a new processor or a sympathetic one.

I now have an isuue date on my transcripts of 5/19. Do i really have to wait an extra 17 days before I can get anything? It will have been a total of 15+ weeks for this crap.
Also there is a 290 code above the 846 code and when I looked it up this is what the description was: Denied either claim made on Form 843 or request for removal of penalty. Now 843 is this: Refund issued. It also says this : Reversal of erroneous TC 841. Date and amount must match those of the TC 841 being reversed.. And to help with that last code 841 well, this is what it says: Refund cancelled. Now, from all that and going backwards… did they try to take our refund and hold it longer? is that really what I gathered from all that?
I’m excited that there is an 846 code, BUT when will I really get it? I’ve heard from so many that it’s not the correct date.

We filed 2/12 but IS department didn’t receive it until 2/20 so the man told me on the phone yesterday my 11 weeks was not up until next Thursday and he said they finished ours on 4/22 and it could take 2-3 weeks to get refund, but he could not find an amount so I do not know what to believe. He said their system updated over the weekend and to call back Monday if WMR did not update. I cannot access my transcripts today and WMR has not updated. I think those IRS people do not know what they are doing.

I filed 2/4, and have received nothing. I filed through Tax Act, and was accepted immediately. I check the transcripts, and finally shows our wages for 2013, but that is about it. It still has no record of our return. I check the WMR periodically, and still has no record of our tax return. This is the first year I filed a IS form. My husband is a self-employed truck driver, and so thought maybe that is why it’s taking so long. I have no idea. I called a few weeks ago, and the woman said she could find no record, but yet our return was accepted on 2/5. Very strange…

hi. Did you ever get it? Was anything updated?

I am still here waiting. I’ve been watching this forum for a few weeks now hoping to get some incite on what’s going on with my IS form. NOTHING! We are 12 weeks in and no changes have been made to WMR or the transcripts since it was accepted on Feb 5. I spoke to a manager who informed me that the 11 weeks they say it takes is for processing only. They are allotted 2-3 weeks after the initial 11 weeks to provide you with a return date. So, I’ve been told if I see nothing to call back Monday. She said the system updates over the weekend. I’m tired of having to call to see if they are doing their job. It really doesn’t take 2-3 weeks to generate a refund, its the slow people behind the system.

APPARENTLY THE PERSON DOING MINE HAS JUST LEFT IT SITTING THIS WHOLE TIME. I AM SO UPSET. BEYOND UPSET. I AM HOPING ONCE THE TZX ADVOCATE CALLS IT GETS RUSH. WE ARE BEHIND ONEVERY BILL. I FEEL SO HELPLESS. THIS WEEK MAKES 12 WEEKS. NO MOVEMENT ON MY TRANSCRIPTS.

Just got off the phone. IRS has a funny way of rewriting the dates.
E-filed and accepted on Thursday Feb 6th. So to me, my 11 weeks was up last Thursday April 24th.
According to the IRS rep I spoke to last Friday, they received it Monday Feb. 10th, so my 11 weeks was up today. and they advised me to call back today.
According to the IRS rep I spoke to today, IS unit received it on Thursday Feb 13th, so my 11 weeks isn’t up until Thursday May 1st.
BUT….they tell you 3 weeks for your taxes and an ADDITIONAL 8 weeks for the IS portion for a total of 11 weeks. Then why wasn’t my time up 8 weeks after the IS unit received it, which should be Thursday April 10th.
The problem is, they know nobody is going to make waves, because they assume most people are ashamed of the fact that they had to file IS form to begin with.
We adjusted our withholdings, to try and avoid the whole tax refund process, so we wouldn’t have to play the waiting game. But my child started college, so we now have the Education credit that gives us money back that we weren’t expecting. I hate to readjust our withholdings, because that would be the year that they end the Ed Credit, and I’d end up owing them thousands. Do ou think they’d let me take 11 extra weeks to pay???

Roll call! How many people are past their 11 week time frame? I am, the only thing they told me was give it 30 more days! Why give a time frame at all? All last week I expected it. Really bummed and tired if waiting.

I had offset for student loan for 1335.89 this year…I am not currently working and haven’t for 18 months so I did not need to file, now this is the 3rd year they have taken out the same 1335.89 which is TOTAL what I owed….also 3rd year to file injured spouse….. have NEVER got anything back, and get run around through 10 telephone transferred …after waiting on hold for over a hour….the IRS has stolen over 2600 from me by taking the 1335,89 out for the past 3 years….but I will NEVER see that money….consider yourself lucky if you get it back in 11 weeks…try waiting 3years for it….GOOD LUCK and be cautions when next year rolls around…they will keep stealing money form you …they will take out same amount ever year after year…they {IRS workers) have NO CLUE what they are doing…
