Where’s My Refund?

Where’s My Refund?

When does IRS accept tax returns in 2018?

The IRS has not announced the day it will open yet for 2018.  They began accepting and processing tax returns on January 23, 2017 for the prior year.

When Can You File Taxes in 2018?

Most tax preparers will allow you to enter and submit your tax return beginning the first week of January 2018.  You don’t need to wait for the IRS to start accepting tax returns to start, but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January and some even later.  When you submit your return before the IRS begins processing, it will sit in a “queue” and be held until the date that the IRS will officially accept tax returns.  If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early in a test batch. This has resulted in early direct deposits in the past, but also major glitches because they are tests after all.

Where is the IRS Refund Cycle Chart?

2018 Refund Cycle Chart

The most recent tax refund cycle charts have already been published. The official IRS tax refund cycle chart has been eliminated and replaced with an IRS Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community publication. However, various websites with refund calendars for the 2018 tax season (2017 tax year) have been updated with 2018 direct deposit and check mailing dates.

When to Expect My Refund?

IRS Refund Schedule Charts typically show that early filers whose returns are accepted before the end of January can anticipate a tax refund direct deposit as early as the first week of February.  The day that IRS deposits refunds varies but we notice trends that help you determine the time and days WMR updates and when your tax return is processed.

I personally don’t think that Taxact is having any issues with the IRS , it may just be that the IRS is behind. However I did have issues filling with taxacts software this year because I kept getting hung up and booted off and had to keep logging in but I had no problems once I submitted it, but I must admit I was nervous because it is my first year filing with an ID pin. I filed on Jan 7th was accepted in the first test batch on the 12th and received the path message in the first weekly update, as I am a weekly. I didn’t didn’t try to order transcripts but did order them this week by mail, fortunately so far no issues. Waiting on the 15th, until then I check once a week to make sure my tax topic doesn’t change.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if those of us that lost bars and cant get return transcripts wake up to money in the bank? Maybe our stuff just didnt update for us to see..is it possible?

@Stuckinflorida: yes but they all have a debt with IRS. That I have been seen.I’m assuming they might not get the balance back till after the 15th.They might but I doubt it.IRS is trying to collection there money.Only way to see is if they get remaining balance on the 8th.There might not any codes but the code to cellect there money.

If you can order both transcripts and WMR updated to path act, I’m quite sure you are approved if not WMR would have updated to some evil codes

He filed and was accepted on the 21st of January, I filed and was accepted on the 26th, I updated this am with a refund approved and dd for Feb 8th, AND I DID HAVE EIC! He also did not have any update on his, no bars with the path message…here is the kicker, I have a debt to IRS and they did take the money owed, soooo…they are getting the funds owed to them and processing even with the child credits, I am not complaining, I did owe the IRS for the year previous, and this year I just happened to have enough to cover my debt for the return….Any thoughts on this???
