Where’s My Refund?

Where’s My Refund?

When does IRS accept tax returns in 2018?

The IRS began accepting and processing tax returns on January 29, 2018.

When Can You File Taxes in 2018?

Most tax preparers will allow you to enter and submit your tax return beginning the first week of January 2018.  You don’t need to wait for the IRS to start accepting tax returns to start, but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January and some even later.  When you submit your return before the IRS begins processing, it will sit in a “queue” and be held until the date that the IRS will officially accept tax returns.  If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early in a test batch. This has resulted in early direct deposits in the past, but also major glitches because they are tests after all.

Where is the IRS Refund Cycle Chart?

2018 Refund Cycle Chart

The most recent tax refund cycle charts have already been published. The official IRS tax refund cycle chart has been eliminated and replaced with an IRS Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community publication. However, various websites with refund calendars for the 2018 tax season (2017 tax year) have been updated with 2018 direct deposit and check mailing dates.

When to Expect My Refund?

IRS Refund Schedule Charts typically show that early filers whose returns are accepted before the end of January can anticipate a tax refund direct deposit as early as the first week of February.  The day that IRS deposits refunds varies but we notice trends that help you determine the time and days WMR updates and when your tax return is processed.

The refund calendar by the College Investor is a good reference which has been updated for 2018 here:  When To Expect My Tax Refund.

@VeeArizona: I will call them and keep you posted as to what info they give me. I will be pissed too. You know what will be hitting the fan lol! I’m not sure why they got rid of the net spend card. I still have mine from last year kinda wish I would have used that again instead of this new one. Hate the uncertainty. Makes us worry and who knows probably for nothin.

@Jolina: try giving them a call and see if they tell you the same thing. I’ll be pissed if my refund gets rejected because of the amount limit. And they say we can only withdraw so much a month. Someone said that Walmart will allow you to get several money orders…I just have a headache with the card I wonder why they didn’t have NetSpend this year..

@VeeArizona: Thanks for the response! I have never used this green dot card either that I know of. I have used the Netspend card the past few years and have never had a problem. Thank you for easing my mind a little. Although I am still nervous about it as well. From what I read on the card site you could not have more than 5,xxx on the card in a 30 day period. Thanks for you input it is appreciated!

@Patiently Waiting: we do have direct deposit but h&r block has to take their fees first. My ddd isn’t until the 7th so I’m sure it won’t be any earlier then that

@Jolina: I called the number in back of the card and told her my amount i would be expecting and she said I’ll be fine and it will post. It’s linked with green dot and several people stated they received large amounts on their cards. I’m only nervous because it’s my first time ever using this card, I never used green dot either.
