When can you file your taxes?
You can submit your tax return before the IRS begins processing as early as the first week of the year with many tax preparation providers. You don’t need to wait until the IRS begins accepting tax returns but you must have the proper forms and paperwork. Some forms are not available until mid January. Tax returns filed before the IRS officially opens sit in a “queue” and are held until the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Your tax return may be selected in a test batch. If you e-file early and it sits in queue, your return may be sent to the IRS early. This can result in early direct deposits depending on the payment provider you select. Our cycle chart will update with key dates including test batch dates.
When does the IRS accept tax returns?
The IRS usually opens around the third week of January each year. They announce the opening date early in January.
The IRS began accepting tax returns this year on January 29, 2024.
When is the IRS test batch?
If you file your tax return early, it may be sent to the IRS in a test batch before the IRS has officially opened for the year. It is usually a week before the date the IRS begins accepting tax returns. This has resulted in refunds in the past that can be posted by direct deposit as early as the day after tax season opens.
When will I get my tax refund?
Early filers whose returns are accepted in a test batch can anticipate a tax refund as early as the day after the IRS opens the January filing season if your return was in the test batch. The day that the IRS deposits refunds varies for regular returns but we notice trends based on the method you chose to file and select to direct deposit. Where is the IRS refund cycle chart?
The official tax refund cycle chart published by the IRS has been eliminated and replaced with IRS FAQ. Refund cycle charts are now published by independent websites and vary slightly.

Congrats to all who have gotten the 846. Hang in there for those who still has not received the 846. If the DDD says 02/23 is that the day it gets sent or could it hit credit union days earlier?

@Ineedmy$$now: no that’s just Something Turbo tax do after you file with them and your line goes all the way to the end with their estimated tax date they think you will get your refund.. same thing Happened to me a couple weeks ago and finally I got my Refund issue Date 2/23/23 at 6:49am this morning

Hi everyone I just checked at 6:00am this morning and got 846 code for DD for 2-23-2023, Just hold on to hope it’s coming much faster this year…..Yay!!!!!

I have no access to transcripts. But I did get a thank you email from turbox tax, anyone think that means anything? I’ll be up all night stalking WMR to get an update. Lol

@Thegirlsmom94: my cycle code is also 0705 by my date is 2/23. That’s weird. But if it says 846 hopefully it comes a lot earlier than 2/27

@Kate: as long as you don’t have any bad codes (anything other than the normal 150, 806, 766, 768)….then you’re probably still just processing. Transcripts can still update throughout the day, so it’s possible. They tend to update in waves, and the first big wave hit after 3am….but I’ve seen people update past 10am (and even later). My motto is: no codes are better than bad codes! Don’t get discouraged just yet 🥰

@I GOT MY REFFFUUND: I think you’re not understanding what I’m asking. Yes the money goes to republic first. Once it goes to republic then it hits your account. But JH has always advertised that serve card gets theirs faster than everyone else’s. So my question is for people who don’t have the serve card. I’m asking if they see federal showing in republic yet. Which is why my comment said ( NOT SERVE ). Do you know anyone who has gotten their refund with fees taken out (besides serve card holders ?

@Bk123: Do you mean you cannot access or transcript or you can and they either NA or blank? If you can’t access them and are a weekly, if they are filling out today, it will not update on WMR until tomorrow. WMR lags at least a day after transcripts update, sometimes longer.
